Re:Because a regular barnstar just doesn't cut it...[edit]

Aw, thanks Ryu, I'm really happy you like it. :) Anyway, it's no problem — you deserved pretty layouts for your pages! —Mirlen 03:22, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank ye![edit]

Thanks for the barnstar. Sorry, I've been out of town for the past few days without internet access. I need my wiki-fix! ~ Hibana 21:14, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another Ryu Kaze ?[edit]

I just saw a post bt Ryushikaze at Eyes on Final Fantasy. I almost thought it was you, but the birth date is different [1]. And he doesn't seem to know FF canon as you do! Renmiri 18:19, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cool! Like I said, the name ws very similar but somehow I knew it wasn't you... He doesn't know THAT much about FF! Renmiri 21:30, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • BTW, how goes the FA ? Do we have to knock down every objecion ? Renmiri 21:33, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • You are very welcome! BTW, I might need your help in the Talk:Blitzball page Renmiri 15:23, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
N/M we got it straightened out Renmiri 17:36, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Did you see the talk page Talk:Blitzball ? Flooch is being so insulting and ornery! Maybe a dose of good commom sense from you would help. Renmiri 22:15, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I knew your commom sense would help! Thanks! Renmiri 01:31, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Awww.. I will miss you and the rest of the FF gang here will too! But it is for a great cause - family - so we will manage ;-)
Don't worry about the FFP invitation. We would have loved to have you there as mod but not at the price of your peace of mind. Heh, I know the feeling all to well: Committing too much time to online stuff and dropping the ball at home is no fun, and not fair to our #1 priority, which to me is real life, job and family. Hopefully you will still have the time to chime in our canon disputes every once in a while, but if not, it's perfectly understandable.
Bottom line: Have fun, take care and don't worry: you are still the best IMHO and your brief but excellent stint here at the FF task force will be remembered for a long time File:Grin.gif Renmiri 13:28, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Aww shucks... I was pretty moved by your words, thanks! Sorry I didn't answer sooner, my laptop was on the fritz... You have been a very bright spot on my experience at Wikipedia too and I will miss you a lot. It is nice to know another parent who enjoys Video Games, I thought I was the only one who did. And your translations, so cool and informative! I even enjoyed having you as tie breaker in my canon disputes, even though you always sided w/ "the enemy" File:Grin.gif. My own fault for not knowing FFX mythology as you and AG do! Thanks for reading and appreciating my humble tales too. The "FFX vault" will always be open for you, e-mail me if you need anything that isn't there an I will look for it. Evenif you don't need anything, please do keep in touch, even if just to tell me about your classes and your little one. Maybe we can trade secrets, besides my deskunking a dog "potion" I also have same killer recipes for cleaning crayon form walls, permanent markers from wood floors, potty training woes, etc... Thanks again for the nice kind words and take care! Renmiri 03:53, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, you may like this [2] series of Fayth movies and wallpapers that AG just did for the FFP site Renmiri 04:36, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Review" of the Uematsu concert here [3] check your e-mail for more goodies later ;-) Renmiri 18:30, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nice to see you back for a spell! If you have a bit of time, we need yor help with the Mythology / Spira merge. Flooch has been the only one working on it so far. I tried to help but you know how he and I get along < rolls eyes > Renmiri 20:30, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now we're cooking! Good to go, I think! Want to do the honors ? Renmiri 14:58, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
WOW! Txs, only you could do it right Ryu!!! Renmiri 16:56, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yipee![edit]

Final Fantasy X is now a featured article, Ryu! Great work! ~ Hibana 05:10, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations! It couldn't have been done without your research and editing tenacity. What's next? ~ Flooch 07:11, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the recognition Ryu, go team! Let me know when you come back from your wikivacation, I'll gladly help on the next project. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying a blitzball match with Renmiri. :) ~ Flooch 03:45, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • WOW!!!!! Another star for you! You worked very hard for it and it payed off! Congratulations for you and Deck! Renmiri 12:20, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there! Do we still need some critique of battle system and modeling ? This one is in french and it is very good (I read french a bit), but we probably need to get a better translator than moi (me in french ;-) ) Oh, and it has great screen caps too! Renmiri 15:41, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Probably the best CVG article I've read yet. Kil (talk) 02:48, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have been LLLUUUCCCCCCAAA'd!!![edit]

I, Crazyswordsman present you with the LLLUUUCCCCCCAAA!!! Award, a picture of Lucca from Chrono Trigger, for making Final Fantasy X a featured article! Congratulations!

Thanks for your comment.[edit]

I honestly don't know what to say about the Maranda thing, but we DO know that 1. Maranda was conquered by the Empire, 2. Marandan boys were drafted into the Imperial army. When I refer to a town, I usually refer to a town and its surrounding area, in other words, a nation. That is the case for all FF games except Final Fantasy X, which has no world map. It is difficult for non-FF players to think this way, but I don't really know how else to put it. Crazyswordsman 19:08, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. And done. Crazyswordsman 20:53, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uh oh...[edit]

You aren't the guy from AC.net, are you? - CieloVagrant

Ah. It's Vagrant. I kinda temporarily quit ACF and I joined Wikipedia the other day while adding to the FFXII character page. Saw your name on the FFVII pages (those pages make me want to explode...) - CieloVagrant
Sorry it took me so long to reply to ya there. Eh, Wikipedia's okay, the speed vandalism is removed does make me put a lot more faith in the site and such. And my problem with the FFVII pages is that it doesn't keep the Compilation and the real game seperate enough, like the Sephiroth page has the Last Order and Before Crisis takes on his past and such. -CieloVagrant

Final Fantasy FAQ[edit]

Yo Ryu I got to say, nice job on your FF project. Your work will help fans of the genre get into depth info regarding the Final Fantasy Series, however I was thinking with your help and other FF fans to open a FF Faq page, were we can help give hints and tips along with a complete walkthrough of the FF series. Please get back to me *Jay2o (talk) 09:08, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fan of your works[edit]

My name is Makora and I read all your links. There is a spelling mistake in some references. Shella in flaregamer.com is a Sheila. Makora 03:36, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: New Spira page[edit]

Well done on fixing all those broken links, and thanks for executing the page moves for me. ~ Flooch 00:47, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats[edit]

It's been a long time since we last talked/argued, but today I logged on (after a long absence) and I saw that the FFX article was promoted to FA. I just wanted to congratulate you for all the work I know you did on the article. You really did great! Nnfolz 02:32, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Article status[edit]

Hi. I recently expanded Dead or Alive (video game series). Its curently up for review for GA status. You've attained featured status on Fnal Fantasy X, recently so I thought it best to ask for an outside opinion on the article. Comments...? -ZeroTalk 13:23, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images in your namespace[edit]

Hello! Fair use images should be used only in article namespace, not in templates, user or talk pages per 9th Fair use criteria policy. I advice replacing the images of the Lucca award you got with a free alternative (in example, Image:Wikipe-tan full length.png). I know it is not the same, but they will otherwise be deleted manually. Thanks for understanding. -- ReyBrujo 18:07, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFX Main paged on July 19 ? Wohooo!!![edit]

Saw it on the talk page of Final Fantasy X Weee! Thanks to you and Deck, mostly Renmiri 01:49, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yay! ^_^ — Deckiller 02:46, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Back to editing[edit]

I'm making a FAC push for Final Fantasy VIII. However, I see only two major issues:

  • I think the character section needs to be reduced by 2-3 paragraphs
  • We should add an intro paragraph in the lead section describing development, cost, etc. I am having difficulty finding this information.

If we can get these two things done, I'd say the article is FA worthy. — Deckiller 16:24, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I did a fairly large overhaul of the reception and gameplay sections in the last day or so. — Deckiller 16:32, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it looks pretty satisfying now, although I still think we should compress the character section by a few paragraphs. Perhaps a peer review will get a greater range of opinions. — Deckiller 20:05, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think a lot of this information is good, but a lot of it can be sent to the various character articles. If we can compress each character to 1 sentence description (or two-three in the case of, say, squall) with the rest of the info included in the list or character articles, we might be in good shape. — Deckiller 20:25, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a quick runthrough and look for any other wording/extra stuff I see. — Deckiller 00:53, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's pretty good information, but I'll try to compress it in lieu of removing it entirely. — Deckiller 00:56, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • We may need to remove the comments section of the reception and criticism section, since it really makes the text block look narrow, and it is info that can be (and basically already is) developed in the prose. — Deckiller 01:22, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Honestly, I think the table should remain, since almost every video game FA I've seen includes one. We may want to stick in one or two of the poor ones in there to round things out. Also, I just finished plugging in some quotes to keep the story section afloat (that way, nobody claims it to be OR). — Deckiller 01:49, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I went ahead and nominated it for peer review, although at this point I have a strong feeling that we can skip right to FAC if we really wanted to. — Deckiller 02:00, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • I just added an image of the triple triad board to try and even out the visuals for the gameplay section (too bad we can't find a battle image in replacement of, say, Rinoa's angel attack). Oh, and nice way to put that whole "Laguna versus Squall" description. — Deckiller 02:07, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Battle images[edit]

this one looks cool, eh? It's basic, and it shows one person summoning. — Deckiller 02:46, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed :-) — Deckiller 02:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What's wrong with Elovoret? In hindsight, even though FF8 is the greatest RPG in the history of the world (xenosaga, xenogears, and FFX come close), it IS quite easy...— Deckiller 03:02, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FF8[edit]

Yeah, I'm pretty satisfied; it looks pretty good. — Deckiller 17:42, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In my experience, a lot of people object when we use words like "also" too much, so I tried to reduce that. It's pretty much unavoidable in most instances, though. — Deckiller 17:54, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I was just recommending that we reduce it just in case someone objects to it in the peer review or FAC. Didn't put the blame in either of us :) — Deckiller 18:05, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Love it :) — Deckiller 18:21, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks; I think we're getting very close to meeting FA criteria 2a. — Deckiller 03:36, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler discussions[edit]

I noticed the debates; please try to remain civil (even if people like you or me don't see it as necessarily being uncivil) — we can't afford to lose a great editor like yourself if you leave Wikipedia or are blocked :) — Deckiller 22:28, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not a praying man either. But let's work on final fantasy articles. It's been good warmup for me for when I tackle the big Star Wars reforms :). Squall Leonhart is almost done, Final Fantasy items has been prosified, and I may invest some time in prosifying the armor/weapon lists. — Deckiller 23:06, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes and punctuation[edit]

Regarding this edit, the Manual of Style says to use logical (British) quotes. Search for "scare quotes" in the Manual of Style to read about it. Pagrashtak 02:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a slight redesign on the uniform Template:General CVG character. I've stated reasoning on the WP:CVG talkpage. Any comments on the new design would be appreciated. -Randall Brackett 07:54, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Story of FF8[edit]

I have somewhat bad news: I was forced to expand the plot section to conform to the comprehensiveness standard, after User:Silence pointed out that both FFX and FFVIII failed to cover all major story arcs (which constitutes as NPOV and failure of the comprehensiveness FA standard). In this case, I had to add roughly two extra paragraphs, but it's much more comprehensive. — Deckiller 08:08, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say we just remove the limit break image anyway; it's not really necessary in the long run. — Deckiller 18:11, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The solution is to move the gameplay section further down. I'll toy with a bit and see what you think. — Deckiller 18:23, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ack :( that's about as close as I can get it without causing huge gaps or moving sections around. — Deckiller 18:25, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Let's pray that's all the major overhauls we need to do today :) — Deckiller 18:32, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt we'll have TOO many objections in FF8's FAC; if we do, they'll be over minor things like length, in which case, we can present a counterarguement. — Deckiller 18:39, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFX merchandise[edit]

I would've left 1-2 sentences explaining it in the lead section, but that's just me. — Deckiller 19:16, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA[edit]

I would really like to nominate you for adminship, epsecially since you have well-rounded policy discussion and article edits. Unfortunately, I'm also reluctant, becuase you did fail to assume good faith for a brief period over the spoiler discussion and it's on RfC. After RfC is completed and 3-4 weeks pass, it would probably be a successful RfA. — Deckiller 17:31, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFX issues[edit]

Now, I'm not going to try and jump too far ahead, but there is a chance that FFX may be put up for a minor review based on improvements and whether or not they will offend people who dislike a slightly extended synopsis. In this case, it's likely that the main page feature will be canceled. While I think this is an incorrect approach (many articles get prose boosts and whatnot a few days before the article is featured), I've seen crazier things happen before. And if such a thing happens, it is only a testament to the "inclusionist versus deletionists using FAC to push their philosophies" debate. The actual editors are not at fault, since they (we in this case) are put between a rock and a hard place. — Deckiller 21:28, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would prefer having the review and a delay, just to make sure that this article is in its prime when it's featured. I think that may be priority one over the anniversary date. What do you think? — Deckiller 21:50, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortuantely, it was made an issue :( Silence requested the article be placed under minor review, and Sandy and myself tend to agree. It doesn't mean that the article's main page debut will be delayed, especially because of the extreme improvements. — Deckiller 22:02, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know, it's not about that — Silence (and to a lesser degree, myself) is worried that the article may need to be reviews by the community to see if the length is no longer an issue. As a matter of fact, he suggested to make sure that we as a group did the right thing. — Deckiller 22:07, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I only played 3/4 of FFX-2, so I can't really help out with the plot :( I'll try though. — Deckiller 22:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
FAR is basically a peer review for featured articles. Most FAs have one every now and then to "give the article a massage" as Tony1 puts it. If the concerns aren't addressed after 1-2 weeks, then the article is put onto FARC (removal candidates). — Deckiller 00:58, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We should be fine. I mean, we have a master copyeditor, a literature teacher, and a 18 year old wikipedian geek who loves to write and play RPGs. I'd say our party is more diverse than Tidus'. — Deckiller 01:03, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I assume you have long hair? Oh, by the way, I think I may disagree with the recent modifications to the audio section made by Flooch. — Deckiller 01:06, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I agree; it was a great way to split it up. Oh, by the way, my hair is probably about 3, maybe 4 inches longer than yours. Do you tie yours back when you teach? I tie mine back in public all the time :-D. I also plan on tying it back for college while wearing my preppy or otaku button down shirts :) And no, I'm not lying! — Deckiller 01:20, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find a way to edit it myself so I'd like to bring to your attention that the TFA entry contains a repetitive word(s). I recommend changing the following: "It is also the first" to "It is the first". Thanks for the hey. :) ~ Flooch 01:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RN's latest edits[edit]

What do you think about the way he's reworded the intro? I don't know...nobody had an issue with the way it was before, and it's gone through at least five copyedits already...— Deckiller 19:58, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFX-2[edit]

Nice job; I'll help tweak it if I have the chance. — Deckiller 02:33, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, speaking of that, Silence has been discussing some of his ideas at me. Many are a little too inclusionist for my sake, but others may work out. He'll probably post a message about them on the WPFF page in the near future. — Deckiller 02:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, you need AIM/AOL :) — Deckiller 02:40, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. You know, you must be the coolest teacher around. Are you still a sub? — Deckiller 02:43, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Very cool. I could really use your help with my fictional writing, but you don't have AIM and wikipedia can't be used as an extremely off topic network :( — Deckiller 02:48, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Off topic..[edit]

See User:Philwelch and look at the gallery. — Deckiller 03:18, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On the front lines[edit]

Tee hee. I know, I just signed on and I've had two reverts already. It's the give and take of being on the front page. How long have you been watching it today? ~ Hibana 00:37, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've got clinic again in the morning. (yawn) I wish I could help pick the flies out of our soup a little longer, but I think I'll leave it to you. Even if the urge to sleep overcomes your need to protect it, there's always tomorrow to kick the kinks out of it. If you get really worried, ask Crazyswordsman or somebody to keep a nightwatch. :) ~ Hibana 00:49, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Image.[edit]

I was stupid and forgot to add that I ripped it. Well, that problem's solved now. Crazyswordsman 03:03, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Magazines[edit]

I may have some old issues of Nintendo Power from around FFVI's time. NP generally rated it well, and it stayed on the "Power Charts" for a long time. Unfortunately, Square was stupid and didn't give us an Ultimania for this (they got lazy and didn't even catch up with them (and don't get me started on the way they treat the Chrono series now XD)). Deckiller says he'll work on the gameplay section (I have an internship which I have to long distance commute to because I can't afford close housing), but I'll see what I can do if there's time. Oh, and I'd like to submit both FFVI and VIII at the same time so we could have a double-whammy. Crazyswordsman 03:52, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FF8[edit]

We're not quite finished with FF8 yet — the story section needs a slight expansion for comprehensiveness, and a couple wording fixes. That's all, though. — Deckiller 07:27, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just meant gameplay, not characterization — that's the last thing we need, especially since it may be seen as unencyclopedic. I reverted it for now. — Deckiller 15:18, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FF8 picture[edit]

Hey, thanks. I thought actually navigating worked a bit better than playing the Chocobo whistle game as well. :P If you need any screenshots for FF8, just tell me what you want, since I have the PC version of FF8 and thus have access to screenshots with excellent resolution. As for the GF screenshot, I see what you mean, but neither do I think it represents GFs very well as it is. Of course, if forced to pick between representing characters battling and GFs battling, I'd choose characters. :) --Tristam 17:35, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Battle pic[edit]

I'd be more than happy to. Perhaps you could give me a specific boss? As it stands, I only have save files up to FH in Disc 2, about to battle the BGFH121 thing for a second time, so it's probably have to be anything before it. I was thinking Gerogero or Iguion. The only thing I don't like about Gerogero is the train background, and Iguion only has two characters (Squall and Irvine) battling, so perhaps it wouldn't be most representative. The spider (X-AM1902 or whatever) would be sweet, but it has that timer in the corner. Or I could go with the Sacred and Minotaur battle.

No problem, and thanks! (By the way, can you check out my comments at the bottom of the FF8 discussion page?) --Tristam 19:41, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FA/FAC issues[edit]

I'm starting to grow upset with playing monkey in the middle between the inclusonists and deletionists. Editors are forced to uphold concensus, but when it forces us to go back and forth 5+ times, it puts stress on us and makes us lose interest and a sense of accomplishment in an article. — Deckiller 01:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and work on it; I don't really mind. I'm in extreme pain right now (just got off of a 10 hour retail shift. I am in very harsh pain, hence my current somewhat harsh attitude). — Deckiller 02:14, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FF8[edit]

FF8 is ready to be put on trial. — Deckiller 00:54, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination is up. I made it very clear that we will not accept an inclusionist/deletionist battlefield this time around. — Deckiller 01:10, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No offense, but I disagree with some of the recent Story wording changes. Tony felt that the section wasn't a problem, and I think they just make the prose too complicated. — Deckiller 15:27, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good now; I removed a couple of the added descriptions. The beginning seems kinda wierd now (to me; we probably just have different styles), but I suppose it won't be a problem. — Deckiller 15:36, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • We are in solid shape so far; I just added a few gameplay references, which should give us even more support (hopefully). — Deckiller 03:01, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Mwa ha ha :) Tagteaming this article is paying dividends :) — Deckiller 07:45, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the thanks! Final Fantasy VI deserves the FA ever since it failed about a year ago, before many of you were on the Final Fantasy corner of Wikipedia. I lack the ability to appropriately form prose like you do, but if you ever need technical repair, let me know. ~ Hibana 17:11, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha[edit]

See, I told you we didn't need the first sentence to have "its" in it :-P — Deckiller 18:08, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also tightened that norg sentence, since it seemed lengthy, and I felt that having less words (while making it less elegent) tightens it. I think it's a sacrifice for the good; I think that's what Tony meant. — Deckiller 18:15, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFX DVD[edit]

I got it on ebay. As for the material itself, it clearly has the ENTIRE set of game scenes, digitally enhanced and tagged "M" for manga so the oiginal source had to be a Square Enix product. I saw his contentions and his points may be valid. i.e.e I don't really know enough to say my particular copy is or isn't a bootleg. I was told it is legit and the 3 language deal is because it is a US Seller version of the main DVD launched in Japan. Sounded OK to me Renmiri 18:53, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS: Sorry for the delay in answering, I was on holiday at my mom's in Florida with my pups! Renmiri 18:53, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • See the talk page. Someone found proof my DVDs are bootlegged. The logo you see here on the upper right hand corner Image:Hypello.jpg is from a known distributor of bootleg DVDs [4]. Sorry Ryu, I thought they were legit! Renmiri 02:14, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've always wondered...[edit]

Does the closing Admin in an FAC debate check to see if concerns by those who object have been addressed at the time of closure? Also, good finds there. Crazyswordsman 01:58, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a little advice — don't go crazy restructuring the chrono trigger page. That's someone elses pride and work, so let them do the fixing. I've come to learn that about FAs; on other FAs, only provide a bit of help, an don't do the majority of the work. — Deckiller 02:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's ok; I just don't want that user getting upset if we come in and do his work for him :) Granted, we can probably work on it ourselves, but that may be seen as arrogant. It's why I stopped working on it :) — Deckiller 02:14, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you two have different writing styles, so I also don't want to see a huge edit war over wording. — Deckiller 02:18, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think he'll probably be happy if we just give him advice and perhaps give him a copyedit if tony still thinks it needs one. By the way, FF8 and FF6 (to a degree) are going quite well :) — Deckiller 02:25, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FF6 Nom[edit]

Hi again, Ryu. Haven't had time to give your article more than a quick glance since the second revision, but it looks better. I'm a little busy off-wiki at the moment -- someone has just dropped a manuscript off for me to look over in rl -- but I'll re-read the article thoroughly and respond on the FAC in the next 12-24 hours. Keep up the good work, -- (Lee)Bailey(talk) 21:49, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFVI - My objection...[edit]

...is now support. Great work on the article. ♠ SG →Talk 00:57, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CT 2[edit]

Yeah, might as well. I did a few minor touchups to the gameplay section just for the heck of it. — Deckiller 03:44, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Team?[edit]

It seems that we make a good team with articles. — Deckiller 02:29, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aye; if only you were into Star Wars :-) I could always use help when I respark the Cruft Crusade. — Deckiller 02:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think users with Oversight may be able to do that; not 100 percent sure though. And yeah, I designed the Star Wars WikiProject with the hopes of spreading the idea of using a more out of universe perspective and reducing cruft. — Deckiller 02:41, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's been improving, but I haven't implemdented my major plans yet. I've been taking baby steps to test the water. It's getting there. As a matter of fact, thse final fantasy pushes are serving as warmups to get me back into the swing of article editing. — Deckiller 02:45, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not likely, I'm going to try and pencil in 30 minutes to an hour of Wiki activity each day. I do have 15 credit hours, though... — Deckiller 02:48, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FA[edit]

Should we attempt to contact Tony? He stays pretty busy at the FA page, so I don't think he's gotten back to us yet. Even though they'll see if his objection has been addressed, I'd still feel a little safer having all Supports. But yeah, not sure what to do at this point. --Zeality 14:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, cool. I'm about to submit Chrono Cross for peer review. Right now, it might need some trimming around the character section or other stuff I'm not aware of. After I submit it, I'm going to go through CT and replace | year= with | date= where applicable. --Zeality 14:42, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll hold off a tad. Maybe Tony would like the nominator himself to reply on his talk page... --Zeality 19:01, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Teh ZOMG top ten musical soundtracks for RPGs in my opinion[edit]

  1. Final Fantasy VIII
  2. Xenosaga Episode I
  3. Xenogears
  4. Final Fantasy X
  5. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
  6. Final Fantasy IX
  7. Xenosaga Episode II
  8. Chrono Cross
  9. Star Ocean: The Second Story
  10. Chrono Trigger

Deckiller 17:37, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lol! I assume those are the five RPGs you've actually played? :) — Deckiller 18:59, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naming of the two FFX subarticles[edit]

This needs a wording change. By calling something a "list of locations in spira", we are suggesting that it is an indisccriminate collection of information, which will come back to haunt us in AfD in the future. It needs to be renamed to "Locations in Spira". — Deckiller 19:21, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah; this should really be done for all our lists. They aren't really "lists". — Deckiller 00:20, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But it would take so much effort to do each and every one of them. Perhaps communtiy dicussion? I'm tired and lazy right now, so I might be slow to start something up. — Deckiller 00:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit Episode I article[edit]

Hi, Deckiller recommended you for help in copyediting an FAC: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I was hoping that you could do a one-over on the article and perhaps show your support? :) The Filmaker 05:24, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind Ryu, we have managed to get it under control, I think ^_^ — Deckiller 05:29, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler warning[edit]

I removed the spoiler warning from your userpage that I think you forgot about ^_^ — Deckiller 18:36, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

E-mail[edit]

Hey; I don't have the message in my inbox; has it been sent yet? — Deckiller 21:07, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFX 1.0[edit]

Not sure, to be honest. 20 percent? — Deckiller 01:50, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think FF8 probably has a better chance, overall. Speaking of which, I hope Raul gets around to the next archive pretty soon :-) — Deckiller 02:07, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hehe[edit]

I just had a HUGE sudden impulse to play FF8 again. — Deckiller 02:35, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank ye[edit]

Thank you for the barnstar! Chrono Trigger still looks like it's on the edge of the Featured Article canyon. I'm glad you're keeping an eye on it (to say the least) as well. ~ Hibana 17:01, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brady bunch, etc.[edit]

Haha, we still have 4, 9, and 10-2 to get to FA status. 7 can stay as a mere good article for all I care — that game is eevvviiilll. — Deckiller 18:37, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it was just a little joke — then again, FF7 will be too hard to keep stable. You've seen the weapons list; most of the prose covers weapons from advent children. — Deckiller 18:41, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, 'tis a lost cause. Ooh, before I forget....I hope Raul gets around to archiving soon :-) — Deckiller 18:44, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • So you've noticed Phaedriel. Isn't she such a cool person? — Deckiller 18:50, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bulbasaur[edit]

So, do you think bulbasaur compromised our reputation? I don't; I think it helped enhance it to most mature people. — Deckiller 19:00, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. Granted, it would be better suited for Pikachu or Pokemon article in general, but we'll take what we can get for diversity. Besides, it's an experiment; if it causes bad reaction in the long run, we'll deviate from such articles in the future. — Deckiller 19:03, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Connections to Ico[edit]

A couple of items you removed from this section were actually properly sourced (one from an interview, the other from the official site). Normally I would have re-added them myself, but you're re-arranging the article a lot and I didn't want to just stick them randomly onto the end of what is now the new Connections to Ico section. Thanks. -- Steel 19:53, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"At the end of ''Shadow of the Colossus'', Wander is shown to have become a baby with horns. Ueda has confirmed this to indicate that Wander sires the line of horned boys, of which Ico is a descendant.<ref name="Behind the Shadow" />"
"The shadowy figures that surround Wander after he defeats a colossus are connected to the shadows that rise to challenge Ico.<ref>''Those shadows seem familliar...'' Retrieved from http://www.shadowofthecolossus.com/ on 24th July 2006</ref>"

I myself think it would be best off in its own sub section at the end of the story section. -- Steel 20:12, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Routine[edit]

I hate to be a pessimist, but the article still needs work if it is to be featured :-) — Deckiller 19:27, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still waiting for Raul to promote CT, FF6, and FF8 before I start new pushes :) I may help work on FF X-2 and see if we can get that to FAC soon. — Deckiller 19:30, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
CT, FF6, and FF8 are basically just waiting for Raul's archive, so it's really only two at once :-P — Deckiller 19:34, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, you are experiencing what Tony1 calls lack of strateigc distance; you've become attached to that article, so you can't put a tag on what needs to be done (it happens to everyone, regardlss of editing skill). That's where outside editors will come in :) I'll give you a hand if I get a chance — Deckiller 19:46, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: FF crew[edit]

Heh, of course it's not bad. Any help we can get is appreciated (as long as you realise we've all worked hard on that article too, which I know you do) -- Steel 19:50, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, we'd have been utterly destroyed by the peer review had you not made the changes you have. The article was in desperate need of copyediting from someone anyway, other people being able to see your mistakes better than you can and all that. You know, I've looked at the old revisions of the page from a month or so ago, and all we've really done is remove a shedload of GameFAQs type stuff and original research, and add a Gameplay and Reception section. Oh, and reference the entire thing. And sort out the introductory paragraphs. (Hmm, maybe we have done a lot after all)
It's a shame Deckiller is pessimistic about it, though, and you about the PAL cover. We'll just have to keep working on it and see what happens. -- Steel 20:18, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually..[edit]

I don't know if I want to work on that article — the users are very defensive and don't understand our style of copyediting. — Deckiller 20:24, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One user =/= all users. Most of us are grateful for the help. -- Steel 20:26, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that user was probably refering to my removal of "in order to". I've often seen it as a questionable inclusion; some consider it redundant, others don't mind. — Deckiller 20:36, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's understandable. I still think I'll avoid working on this article until it's nominated for FA; the issues came from the fact that I never even touched this game, so my edits were just for prose and not content. — Deckiller 21:02, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FF8[edit]

Spoiler tags are back ;). I think we're going to have to just forfeit here and allow their inclusion. After all, we can't WP:OWN the article and all. Then, if and when the RfC comes out removing spoiler tags, things will be fine again ^_^ — Deckiller 21:24, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, were you the first official objection to the policy? I must say, your arguements are very powerful. — Deckiller 22:07, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Any responses to the above comments I've left in the last hour? :-) — Deckiller 22:18, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What about the situations on the other article above? — Deckiller 22:32, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I meant the situation with Shadow of the Colossus XD — Deckiller 22:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good idea. By the way, I'm doing a massive revamp of the weapons page. It's phase one of a project to convert that to at least something along the lines of final fantasy magic (but both need lots of sources!). — Deckiller 02:37, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

I gave youa barnstar for all of your work on FF6 and FF8! Keep it up! --PresN 16:27, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FAs[edit]

Hopefully 4 and X-2 can make it through, as well. I hope people don't start seeing this as ridiculous :) — Deckiller 16:32, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
