August 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "S1Artspace", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website. Please note that Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or appear to be shared by multiple people. Please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Lone boatman (talk) 13:17, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

S1 Artspace is a not for profit organisation and a registered charity (charity number: 1089266) therefore under wiki's conflict of interest guidelines I believe we are acceptable

Under COI guidelines maybe, if it is declared in your user page which you have not, but the notice above and the issue is a clear violation of the username policy about names that imply shared use by more than one person. The rule is simple, one account, one person. Please request a change of username as this account name will be blocked for said issue. Also please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 13:26, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. I see what you mean now, I have requested a change of user name. Apologies but as a first time user of wiki, much of the etiquette is foreign to me and I am still getting my head around it as I go.S1Artspace (talk) 13:36, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to be of help. A clarification: The new name you have chosen "Chloe@S1Artspace" is not acceptable as due to technical limitations the software cannot accept "@" in usernames. Please choose another one. As per your comments, let's clarify when you say "wiki" you mean Wikipedia, an encyclopedia, and not all or a generic wiki which is a type of software. Let's call it as it is and give thanks to the thousands of volunteers that make Wikipedia what it is, and to Ward the inventor of the wiki, of which Wikipedia is but one of the thousands of wikis out there. -- Alexf(talk) 14:04, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again. I have requested another name change. I hope ChloeS1Artspace is acceptable.S1Artspace (talk) 14:15, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's for the Crat to decide. As per conflicts of interest, please note that COI editing is strongly discouraged. We would like to have lots of good editors to improve the encyclopedia. We do not need people to add ads and marketing material for their companies. read that page carefully. Note the notice at the end that says: "Editing in the interests of public relations is particularly frowned upon." and its explanation. If you still want to do this, please remember to declare your COI or else you might get nothing but trouble, embarrass the organization and maybe get your account blocked. Remember this is not Facebook or Social Media. -- Alexf(talk) 14:28, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
