Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, SBINFocus, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to take the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit The Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! Edit-a-thon account creation

[edit]

Howdy, SBINFocus. If you don't get the temporary ACC flag, send an email to the Account Creation Team at accounts-enwiki-l@lists.wikimedia.org today to alert us about your edit-a-thon. As long as attendees have access to their email accounts, they can use the Request an account page to make requests for accounts. I and hopefully other volunteers will stand by and handle requests for accounts as they arrive via HelpmeBot for an hour or so before your event starts until it's well under way.

Please ask attendees to put South Bend Edit-a-thon in the comments. Once the location IP is checked, it will only take a minute to handle each request. Most will be created and a random password sent within that minute. A few usernames may be too similar or taken by another user and an attendee may have to choose a different username by email.

The account creation queue currently has a backlog of about 30 hours because of a large volume of requests. We usually handle them in the order received but if the Team is notified in advance, we can pluck the requests out via HelpmeBot as they arrive and handle them out of order.

If you have questions, ask right here. I'll be watching your talk page until after the event and will reply within a day. Take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·ʇuoɔ) WER 19:18, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Swarm: Hi, Swarm. Thank you very much for offering to take care of this. I do agree to the terms you have posted on the account request page. Again, the event runs this Tuesday, September 29 from 5-7 pm ET (we are in South Bend, IN). If you need me to do anything else, please let me know. 74.94.121.59 (talk) 14:23, 26 September 2015 (UTC) SBINFocus (talk) 14:24, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Swarm: Sorry for the two pings, but if possible, we would like the account creation exemption to start by 4 pm ET (20:00 UTC) through 7pm ET (23:00 UTC). Thank you for all your help! SBINFocus (talk) 15:16, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
