New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:19, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Borges

Hi SPat, thanks for your enquiry about Borges and Maths. I think there could be a great article in there, though I don't know much about it myself. The novels project page gives some good pointers about article structure. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Novels and Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/ArticleTemplate also give some ideas. I'm happy to give some feedback on the page development if you need hand. Hope that helps. Best wishes Span (talk) 20:17, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

It looks like a finely developing article. I'd suggest adding some context to the maths - some background to his life and education. Also, something on the specific mathematicians or schools that were inspired by him. I have no idea how Borges became so involved with maths, though he was self educated and interested in pretty much everything, it seems. That connection would be good to explore. These are just some ideas that same on perusing the draft. Best of luck. Span (talk) 01:25, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I came to your sandbox from Span's Talk page, and I'm glad I did. Looks like it's turning into a great subarticle, imo. Wikipedia at its most finely tuned. —MistyMorn (talk) 16:16, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it is turning into a rich and useful article. From a biographical point of view (mostly what I do here) it would be useful to have more about the writing/conjuring of his ideas - where he was, what inspired him, who his collaborators, 'teachers' and publishers were; that is to say, something of a chronological/developmental setting. I'm not suggesting you add these things, just that this fleshing out will, I think, help the article stand on its own and help readers navigate the mathematical ideas. Thanks for giving your time to creating this. All best wishes Span (talk) 01:00, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your kind words! I'm trying to get more biographical sources - I'll probably work on it a bit more before taking it live (can't spare too much time during the week, unfortunately). The main issue is that the single most useful source, (Martinez's book) is in Spanish, which I don't read. I'm sure that that book will have a lot of useful stuff, if someone can help with translation. Cheers, SPat talk 05:13, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
Congrats on getting the Borges page live. Span (talk) 12:27, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! Lets see if we can get a DYK out of this SPat talk 19:38, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.
