I know of no better ref to the magic square than your website and the website of Harvey Heinz . Thanks for letting us know of the web address change. Craig Knecht

Information icon Hello, I'm Praxidicae. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Inserting your own website into Wikipedia is highly inappropriate and can result in it being blacklisted. Praxidicae (talk) 15:15, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I'm S Harry White (talk) 21:23, 4 March 2019 (UTC) Sorry, I was not aware of the strict policy against referencing one's own website. I assure you that the references I added were not an attempt at self-promotion.[reply]

On the MagicSquares page:

Under "Bordering method for order 3", user Manoguru had recently borrowed freely from my website work that I did back in 2009 and which does not appear anywhere else on the web.

Under "Bordering method for order 5", I corrected the number of bordered magic squares and added 3 supporting references, (1 being to my website).

I received 4 emails that user Manoguru had thanked me for these edits.

When you reverted my edits, that removed the number correction that I had made as well as 2 subsequent edits by user Manoguru.

On the Most-perfect magic square page:

Under "Examples", I corrected the number of 2x2 blocks and clarified "ReversibleSquares", "Transform1 2All", and "ReversibleMost-Perfect" by adding refs. These refer to executables on my website. They do not exist anywhere else. Without the references, the paragraph makes no sense.

Your edit removed the correction for the 2x2 blocks It also added [[{{{first}}} {{{last}}}|{{{first}}} {{{last}}}]]. What is that?

The many other deletions you made were of references to my website, made by other users, when my site was at eastlink.ca. When my site moved to budshaw.ca, I was simply being helpful by updating those references. S Harry White (talk) 21:23, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Magic Square page[edit]

Hi Harry, I am very glad to see a well regarded Magic Square enthusiast to have joined the Wikipedia community. Over the last year, I have been trying to clean up the Magic Square page as best as I could. I would be extremely grateful if you could offer any suggestions on improving that article. I only caught the magic square fever on December 2017 when I was trying to pass my time in an airport while my flight was delayed by bad weather. I have learned a lot since then, but I also know that there is still a lot more to learn. I specifically wanted to ask you, since all the order 5 magic squares have been enumerated, if someone has investigated the Dudney patterns for order 5 squares. I do not remember seeing anything like that for order 5 magic squares, although I don't see why anyone would not have done it already. Also, since you are one of the few people to verify the number of bordered magic squares for order 5, I wonder if there is a deeper coherent theory that allows us to generate these magic borders on demand... something like the latin squares but for the borders.
