If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sabancı University, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. –Dream out loud (talk) 07:47, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Sabancı University

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from Sabancı University. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willing to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 08:52, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Sabancı University. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 08:56, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on A.Nihat Berker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Yasht101 09:12, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As reviewing administrator, I have declined the speedy deletion nomination on this page, though it needs independent references. JohnCD (talk) 10:31, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Before you create an individual account, please read:

You must understand that Wikipedia is not for advertising or promotion of any kind, and is very resistant to attempts to use it in that way.

Your article on the University was deleted as a copyright violation, taken from the University web-site; we cannot accept copied material unless a formal copyright release is made as described in WP:Donating copyrighted materials. Assertion of permission to use text is not enough.

But it would not be worth making a copyright release because, like most organizations' own websites, this is written in a promotional style quite unsuitable for an encyclopedia article which requires a neutral point of view. "Sabancı University will be sensitive to the needs of its students, their families, employees, administrators and the entire society... We will strive to define and make visible all issues that concern us at large... " etc. would be speedily deleted as an advertisement, even apart from the copyright issue.

If you set up a new, individual account, you will still have a conflict of interest in regard to the University. It would be best to wait until someone with no COI is interested enough to write an article, but if you wish to proceed you should make a draft in your user space, by going, from your new account, to Help:Userspace draft. First, read WP:Your first article. You will need to establish WP:Notability by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Do not write in the first person: you are not writing for the University, you are writing for Wikipedia about the University. Take great care not to write in a promotional style: if you try to "sell" the University, the article will not be accepted. What is required is not opinions or glowing adjectives, but plain facts, neutrally stated and backed by reliable sources.
