Thanks for uploading File:WhatDoTheyKnow screenshot.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 14:15, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:WhatDoTheyKnow.com favicon.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SaffyMiso. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SaffyMiso. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=SaffyMiso|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 11:36, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theroadislong, I am an employee of mySociety but am not paid to edit Wikipedia nor have I been encouraged to by my employer. As stated, I have previously noted some changes required on the Talk page but they have not been acted upon. I am happy to mention my affiliation to mySociety on my Talk page and will do so now. SaffyMiso (talk) 15:42, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As an employee of mySociety, Wikipedia considers you to be a paid editor and you must make the declaration on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 15:50, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've put it on, but the wording is unfortunate: "discloses that they have been paid by mySociety for their contributions to Wikipedia" as it is untrue. SaffyMiso (talk) 15:54, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
