My contribution to Nomani page has a reliable source. The letter to the editor that I have referenced appeared in Pakistan's most respected English newspaper. One can reasonably assume that editors of Dawn will not publish frivolous material. There is no general rule about using letters to the editor. There is ample conversation about this issue in the blogosphere and there is no response to the letter's claims. The letter itself provides a careful description of Shibli Nomani's descendants. Just as Nomani "states" that she is a descendent of Shibli Nomani, the letter's author "rejects" that claim. There is nothing controversial about the fact that Asra Nomani has made the claim, and similarly there is nothing controversial about the fact that people have rejected that claim. The reader can draw her own conclusion. saghias
