Image source problem with Image:Daniel Magder.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Daniel Magder.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:27, 7 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sdrtirs (talk) 18:27, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source/license for Image:John Ralston.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:John Ralston.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like PD-self (to release all rights), CC-by-sa-3.0 (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 19:10, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Debby Ryan, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you.

[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Debby ryan.png, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.imdb.com/media/rm454661888/nm2913275. As a copyright violation, Image:Debby ryan.png appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Debby ryan.png has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

 • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Image:Debby ryan.png and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Debby ryan.png with a link to where we can find that note.
 • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Image:Debby ryan.png.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. AussieLegend (talk) 05:30, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:BaileyPickett.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BaileyPickett.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AussieLegend (talk) 05:46, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Bailey's Pig Porkers.png

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Bailey's Pig Porkers.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? AussieLegend (talk) 05:54, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that this image is a duplicate of an existing image, meaning that there was no need to upload this one. That image is also nominated for deletion, for the same reason as this image. --AussieLegend (talk) 06:09, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image problems - please read and take note

[edit]

Hi Sagittarius95, From the above and the fact that almost all of your image uploads have now been deleted, you clearly have not fully understood Wikipedia's attitude to image copyright. Please note that you cannot claim an image as yours, nor upload it under a free licence if:

 • It is a logo belonging to an organization (regardless of whether you have redrawn it)
 • It is an image taken from another website (regardless of whether you have edited it)
 • It is a scan or photograph you took of a map, book, magazine or anything else created by another.
 • It is a screenshot from a TV episode.

If the image is any of these, or any other image originally created by another person, you can only upload it if either:

 • The original creator has released the image under a free licence or
 • The image meets the Wikipedia non-free criteria and specifically the 10 requirements of us hosting copyrighted images.

Can you please do not upload any further images until you have read and understood this - Peripitus (Talk) 09:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
