Basheer

[edit]

Dear Sahodaran,

Thank you very much for calling my attention to the state of the article on Basheer; it seems it was once deleted for the wrong reasons (the entire article could not have been a copyright infringement, maybe some later edits were...), and that I can't even look up my past edits.

I want to write a comprehensive article on Basheer, but since I was not satisfied with my draft, I had not been paying attention to what was happening here.

Very nice to see your work (on Basheer, and also on others, such as M. Mukundan). You have added several valuable points.

Maybe the first thing we should do is to include Ronald Asher's article from the web. I shall try to prepare a draft and show it to you, so that we can have a discussion on it before we actually put it on the wikipaedia.

Dear Italo,Thanks for replying.Sure,we can have such a discussion.I am quite new to wiki, and now I want to focus on Basheer and his works,my most favorite author.See you:)--Sahodaran 16:02, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Category on Anti globalization journalists

[edit]

Hi Sahodaran. Thanks for starting "Category:Anti globalization journalists". But at the category talk page, I've suggested changing the name of the category to "Anti-globalization writers", since not all the people listed are journalists. Does this sound OK to you? Regards -- JimR 05:16, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure.That sounds much better.In fact I too was thinking along the same lines.Please go ahead.--Sahodaran 11:59, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    K.R. Narayanan FAC

    [edit]

    Hi Sahodaran,

Great work on the article, however I, like Sundar, feel that it needs to be peer reviewed to increase its chances at becoming FA. The Career section needs to be in summary format - its current length makes it unreadable. Apart from Education, Orgins and Career, not much else is covered in the article, that needs to be addressed. Also, questions may be raised on the Usha_narayanan.gif image, which is currently using a deprecated Image tag. The same with KRN.jpg. There is also an excessive number of external links pointing to journalistic commentary and speeches by Narayanan, most of which, if not otherwise expressly used in your research, should not be listed in the article. These are just some of the many objections that are likely to crop up during the FAC process. Please consider withdrawing the article from FAC for the time being and moving it to peer review, so that the article can draw upon the suggestions of other people, thereby allowing it a better chance at becoming FA. Thanks AreJay 06:15, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear RJ,Thank you very much for the suggestions. It seems you are suggestiong that a peer review is a must for becoming an FA.I think I've seen FACs without a PR.AndI Don't see why the career section is too long.Anyway,I'll try to deal with it. Don't see what more could be written about a professional diplomat, other than his career and education...and politics. The image problem has been resolved. Also,I personally believe the exhaustive external links the article has got is something that would help those using this encyclopedia.I see the FAC is still going on,so I'll wait some more time before withdrawing.Thank You very much once again.--Sahodaran 03:22, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Sahodaran, no I was not suggesting that a PR is a must before FAC. I was merely saying that there were a number of points that I noticed with respect to that article that could be improved through the input of other contributors. For obvious reasons, I didn't want to discuss the issues on the FAC forum, since that may have led to other voters objecting to the article based on the points that I would have raised. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great article and very well written, but can still use some "fine-tuning". Anyway, as nominator of the article, the choice is yours. If you decide at a later date to conduct a PR, please let me know - I would like to help. Also, if you are planning to conduct PR at a later date, list the article on Wikipedia:Notice board for India-related topics/Peer review so that other contributors can share their input with you on the article. Thanks and good luck with the FAC! AreJay 03:38, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks!Yeah, perhaps a peer review will do a lot more to improve it.Let me observe the FAC for some more time before putting it for a PR.--Sahodaran 03:51, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:NITC adminblock.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 14:46, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Premalekhanam.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

I want your opinion on this particular person Pradip Somasundaran. He claims to be a famous singer in Kerala. Now being a Malayalee, I have not heard of this person before, so I wonder whether or not you have heard of him before and set this issue straight. If so, then please let your opinion be counted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pradip Somasundaran. Speedy deletion of Murugeshpalya

    [edit]

A tag has been placed on Murugeshpalya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File permission problem with File:VaikomMuhammadBasheer.jpg

    [edit]

Thanks for uploading File:VaikomMuhammadBasheer.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

    • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
    • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for File:KRNwithKofiAnnan.jpg

    [edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:KRNwithKofiAnnan.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 22:40, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
