Hey, Baegis, did you notice that that time I actually explained myself? Saimdusan Talk|Contribs 02:11, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How about you explain yourself on the talk page and not in the edit summary. You can't just go about deleting things under auspicious circumstances whenever you wish. It doesn't work like that. Btw, new messages to an editor go at the bottom of their talk page (like this message), not the top (like your message to me). And I never said that I would ban you, I was merely using the WP templates for vandalism and content removal. Baegis (talk) 02:53, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah ok. I just did explain myself on the talk page. You did actually say to do it in the edit summary though. Saimdusan Talk|Contribs 03:19, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Religion in China

[edit]

I wonder that you was still deleted ten of citation given in Religion in China without any reasons. You can see that I haven't delete any your citation given [1] because I respect everyone's right entries but you was not respect my contributions...why? You must open-minded, listen if you want everyone respect you! Wikipedia is not a battlefield of knowledge! Thank you!

I can not stand when you delete the newest survey of Zuckerman in 2005 has wrote: 8% - 14% of China population are Atheists from your last estimate given as 59% are Atheists(from the same author in 1993 or another survey in 1998). And deleted all 7 sources thatshow mostly Chinese people are nominal Buddhist/Taoist although I still keep the sources (Chinese government) that show only 8% (or 100 million) of population have taken the Refuge!

You should read Wikipedia:Three-revert rule!

Angelo De La Paz (talk) 10:24, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Angelo, Vipassana Foundation is not a scholarly source, and other sources contradict it. For example, the SBS statistics guide (or whatever its called) puts Buddhism at as low as 2% I think. Not sure. But I don't believe that number either, but its still far more likely than 1 billion. I didn't respect your contributions because they where Original Research, and because you deleted mine earlier even though we came to an earlier compromise, and because the most liberal of scholarly estimates are at about 500-600 million, you cannot fit 660 million or 1 billion into that number. I might listen to people but that was, original research, since your sources did not say that.
You have to understand that Atheist and Agnostic =/= non-religious. The first number was for non-religious, while the second one was for atheists and agnostics. You still kept those sources, but again, they where OR.
Finally, with the three revert rule, I didn't do three reverts within a 24 hour period. Saimdusan Talk|Contribs 22:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tag requesting Ethnic Group Infobox for Australian Aborigines

[edit]

G'day .. I see you've tagged Australian Aborigines as needing an Ethnic Group Infobox!

I note I generally find infoboxes useful .. and I would be glad to try to oblige/assist .. HOWEVER .. I previously investigated and seen that Ethnic Group's Infobox requests population numbers plus distributions of siad ethnic groups (in this case, Australian Aborigines!)

Unfortunately .. the expected, otherwise reliable source for this kind of information within Australia .. ie the Australian Bureau of Statistics does NOT report specifically on numbers of Australian Aborigines (instead lumping them and their population numbers together with Torres Strait Islanders!!) .. nor does it seem that they actually collect census data specifically on whether or not people are Australian Aborigines (again asking are you an Australian Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander?)

I wonder if, perhaps, the infobox might give the combined Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander figures for mainland towns and simply have a > (less than) figure in front .. or, alternatively, we search for a reliable source for estimating percentages of ABS figures .. or, maybe, their is an alternative reliable source of these sorts of numbers/ population figures?

I look forward to any advice or suggestions?!! Bruceanthro (talk) 03:18, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not Indigenous as you can see from my user page, I'm 1/2 Punjabi, 1/4 Serb, 1/8 Slovene, 1/8 Russian. I simply noticed that the Australian Aboriginals article lacked an infobox, and I'm sure there are some notable Aborigines (there is one that I seem to remember at the back of my head, but I'm not sure of his name...). According to the Australian census 2006 ([2]) there are 115, 000, but that seems a bit too low. Perhaps just add the Indigenous Australians infobox to both the Australian Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders page? Although, even the Tasmanian Aboriginals have their own infobox.Saimdusan Talk|Contribs 05:34, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just added notable aborigines to the Indigenous Australian infobox, instead of the previous people. Saimdusan Talk|Contribs 05:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry .. wasn't actually asking if YOU were Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Austrlian!! Anyways .. I quite like and appreciate what you've done for the Indigenous Australian's infobox .. much more contemporary and accurate than the original 'bathurst island' photo!!
Don't know where the Tasmanian Aboriginals figures come from .. maybe there are no people identifying as Torres Strait Islanders living in that State. In Queensland, however, there are some large Torres Strait Islander populations .. I even recall (unreferenced!) mention that the world's largest single Torres Strait Islander population is in Towsville and not the Torres Strait. What on earth possessed you to redirect Swedish people, which is not an ambiguous term, to the dab page Swede? I'm about to fix Swedish people to redirect to Swedish ethnic group. (In addition, your move of Swedish people to Swedish ethnic group was unnecessary but not particularly harmful, unlike your redirect to the dab page.) I encourage you to consider the consequences of your actions before making a move like this in the future. --Tkynerd (talk) 17:54, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because "Swedish people" does not necessarily refer to an ethnic group, and the way the pages were layed out it seemed as if it was trying to say that it was. Saimdusan Talk|Contribs 20:34, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Assamese people and People of Assam

[edit]

Hi,

I appreciate your enthusiasm on editing these pages, but what you are trying to insert are simplistic caricatures of a complex situation, that began more than 100 years ago. Instead of clarifying the situation in NPOV fashion, you are inadvertently feeding into these caricatures. There are many mistakes you have made. The government at Delhi has not been able to clearly define the Assamese people (this is related to who the Assamese people are who will benefit from the provisions of the Assam Accord). So that definition is a legal definition, not necessarily a sociological one. The Assamese themselves are made up of many communities. This has been stated clearly in Saikia's book. Yet you choose to ignore it. The BJP is not against the Bengalis---and btw, the BJP is very strong in the Barak Valley. They are against the muslims. If you take the position of the AASU, the organisation that spearheaded the Assam movement, then the Assamese people are against the influx of bangladeshis (actually all foreigners), irrespective of religion or language. I have no choice but to delete most of what you have written because I cannot edit and correct then piecemeal. They are inherently wrong.

Thanks, Chaipau (talk) 01:20, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Buddhism and Evolution

[edit]

Hi! Sorry in advance for being such a newbie, but about a year ago you tagged Buddhism and evolution as non-neutral point of view. I just joined WP: Buddhism, and just did a lot of work on that article. I think it can lose that tag now, but I know the guidelines say the pov dispute should be officially resolved on the talk page first; does this mean you'd like to look it over first? If so, does it look okay to you now? (And am I doing this right? Sorry, still new, heh) --Dammit McFadden (talk) 00:34, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Although Buddhism does not directly contradict evolutionary theory, that article lacks references, and that's the crucial problem. Saimdusan Talk|Contribs 09:19, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

question...

[edit]

Disambiguation is tricky. If, for the sake of argument, renaming Inayatullah to Inayatullah (disambiguation) was a good idea there would have remained some additional work that a robot should not have been relied upon to do.

Note: a robot screwed up here.

I don't understand why you would have done that move. And, if a move was a good idea, why did yo choose to call him a "detainee"? It is a term that was very rately used, prior to the Bush administration's decision to abrogate the USA's obligations under the Geneva Conventions. In my opinion "detainee" was chosen by spin doctors to add a false appearance of legitimacy to these men's captivity.

The USA is not holding these men as POWs. There are conditions where captives can be stripped of the protections of the Geneva Conventions. The USA has a 150 page manual, AR 190-8, which lays out how the military can strip a POW of POW status. The USA convened 1300 of these AR 190-8 Tribunals during the 1991 Gulf War. Every single one of them either confirmed the captive was an innocent civilian, or was a POW after all.

If someone is stripped of POW status, because they are a war criminal, there is an obligation to lay criminal charges against them, or to turn them over to civilian (in this case Afghan) authorities, so they can lay charges.

Some of the captives held in Bagram have been there for seven years, held without charge, or even the trivial opportunity offered to the Guantanamo captives to learn and refute the allegations used to justify their captivity.

To pick the term used by the spin doctors from one side of a dispute is a violation of the policy of a neutral point of view. When the legal disputes are finally all resolved the captive could end up being regarded as kidnap victimes.

So, why did you move the article? Geo Swan (talk) 14:36, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pyrénées-Atlantiques, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Basque Country (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:02, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
