Article deletion[edit]

Hey, I thought I'd explain a little as to why I deleted the page. There were multiple problems. The first was that the page was a WP:COPYVIO of your facebook page. Even if you say that you wrote the page, that's still considered to be a copyright violation per Wikipedia's rules. You can submit an WP:OTRS ticket giving up the content as fair use, but that would only solve one of the problems.

The next problem was that the entire article had been written in a tone that was neither neutral or encyclopedic. It came across as promotional in tone, which is acceptable on a Facebook page but not on Wikipedia. That's part of the problem about creating a page for something that you have a conflict of interest with- you can sometimes tend to write something in a promotional manner without actually intending it to be as such. Even if you submit a ticket to OTRS giving up the original content as fair use, the page as a whole could still be deleted as a promotional page.

The final problem was that you didn't really have any sources that could be considered a reliable source per Wikipedia. (WP:RS) SugarBuzz isn't really usable as a reliable source, as it looks to be more akin to what we'd consider to be a blog source. Verbicide is somewhat questionable, but the bigger problem is that The Thing isn't the focus of those articles. Notability isn't inherited by the band being mentioned in relation to an article that focuses on someone or somebody else, even if they/you participated in the band in the past. (WP:NOTINHERITED) Best way I can describe it is that you can have Halle Berry star in a Z grade movie, but that doesn't guarantee that anyone will write about or review the film. At most they'd be seen as more of a brief or trivial source. As far as Discog goes, that's considered to be a routine database type listing, which cannot show notability. I understand that it's hard to show sources for niche bands, but they would still have to have sources to show that they pass WP:BAND.

You're welcome to try to create a new article, but you would need to be able to back up everything with reliable sources. I would honestly recommend that since you have a conflict of interest, that you seek assistance through WP:MUSIC, our WikiProject for everything music related. Not only can they help you with sourcing and neutrality, but they would also be able to help dissuade a lot of concerns over potential COI. Tokyogirl79 (｡◕‿◕｡) 08:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
