Please clarify the intent[edit]

Is your intent to work on something to propose, or to just replace the live article when you are satisfied with your work here? Thanks NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 10:05, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm really not sure how this hasn't been clear. For weeks people have been complaining about a lack of objective criteria, and some of us have been talking about using academic sources. Then there was a long time that passed where people kept complaining and nobody was doing anything, so I did this and told everyone with a new indent, and told them they could edit the page. What do you expect me to do, start a third RfC? Campaign for votes? SamuelRiv (talk) 14:39, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't make sense of this reply, so I went back to try to find the indented comment you mentioned which I think is this one [1]. I apologize I did not read the ambiguous comment as you intended. Instead of just explicitly saying you had a draft here in userspace, you just wikilinked the text of a joke, and that obscured your intended FYI message. I didn't click on the joke text, expecting a GIF or pic of train wreck, instead of arriving here. I appreciate you trying to let everyone know, even if it wasn't a sufficient sledge hammer to bust through my thick skull.
On process, this is fine for demonstration purposes of what you want to try to do, but I'll reserve my comments until you are making proposals based on this work in the article and article talk space, which is where we should form the consensus for the foundational criteria and approach and structure. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 15:07, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you could also read my subsequent comments as to why I am not going to finish this draft until I can be reasonably sure it's all for nothing. Every single coup that intersects in the article space needs to compared to the codebook to see if it matches, then added to the table with the description text considerably trimmed, and that's on top of the hundred or so coups that are not in the article for which sources from the codebook also have to be copied over. Like I said, do you want some RfC? I've already proposed this, and it's been a proposal on the Talk page for weeks. Is there something that you are not understanding about what is proposed? Ask a question on the main article Talk page then. Do you want to complain about this? Post it on the main article Talk page. There's plenty of room. Well this thread was just intended to find out (A) if there was miscommunication and (B) to clear it up. I think that mission has been successfully completed. I agree with the observation no consensus exists at article talk to use this conceptual approach, so I will sign off here, and continue watching the article talk page, and will chime in there when I have a something to say.
