Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Saraalutz. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Debbie Matthews, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. The large number of images you have uploaded to Commons suggests you have personal access to photographs collated by Debbie Matthews. I would point out that even if she holds those photos, she will not own the copyright of many of them - especially those taken whilst she was racing on her bike and not holding the camera! Equally, you may cite news stories from newspapers in which she is mentioned, but you may not upload photos of them to Commons, as they remain copyright of the newspaper publisher. [edit]

Paid editing is only barely tolerated here, when it becomes a time sink through lack of understanding Wikipedia guidelines, it is NOT tolerated. Paid editors are expected to know how to edit, we usually recommend editing for a few months in order to gain experience before creating articles which is the most difficult task here. Theroadislong (talk) 06:43, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I must agree with @Theroadislong here. I would not expect to pay for a taxi driver to take me across town, only to discover that they have yet to learn how to drive a car, or have not invested the effort to learn the rules of the road. The same goes for Wikipedia. Please invest some effort in learning the basics of editing existing articles and in adding citations to them before a) taking money from other people, and b) expecting our volunteers to help teach you the basics when you get stuck on your first journey.
