Re: All your base are belong to us

That's fine, but make sure you cite a source to prove that it is "notable". You and I might know it's notable, but we still need to cite a reliable source that says so. If you have any questions about how to do this (the best way is using a footnote), let me know and I will show you. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 13:38, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, sorry I was busy (too many open tabs) and did not read your commant until now. Does it measure up to Wikipedia standards in it`s current form or should I look for more info? Sas2009 (talk) 14:21, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed from here that it seems AYB was not popularized so much by "viral video" as by being talked about at the Something Awful forums. If this is the case, it probably shouldn't be included as an example at the viral video page. Do you have any thoughts? rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 14:22, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well the phrase was spread to me personally by the flash animation ;) But IMHO the animation can also count as a "viral video" in it`s own right seeing as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qItugh-fFgg (one of the video versions)has over 2 million views. My question isn't whether the animation counts as viral, but whether that's how it spread. The source I listed above seems to imply that it just spread through forum use rather than through video. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 14:33, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"A viral video is a video clip that gains widespread popularity through the process of Internet sharing, typically through email or Instant messaging, blogs and other media sharing websites." (first line of Viral Video) is the definition I went by. Why is a forum not a "media sharing website"? irc I came across the link to the animation in an early MMORPG, chat in there could be considered a form of Internet sharing not unlike Instant Messaging.
