User page strangeness

Thanks for that revert, friend! :-) ScarianTalk 22:40, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

No problem, always glad to help... Now why exactly is he requesting to be blocked? I do not understand these vandals sometimes. Gscshoyru 22:42, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps, it would be best, if someone were to grant his request? :-D ScarianTalk 22:45, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
It would, and someone has. Still... why would anyone ask that? Very, very odd. Gscshoyru 22:47, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Lotus Agenda

I believe the edit should not have been reverted. I just added an external link to a website which is already mentioned in that page, but clearing up it's not only for solving the USB problem (network printers are another issue for example, which is also addressed by that software). I didn't open an account because I don't regularly edit pages here. This is my first (and probably the last) one. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.42.116.103 (talk) 00:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I most likely reverted the edits because of spam links. It's not allowed on Wikipedia to add in links that seem like advertising. I'm sorry if I offended you. Perhaps you'll reconsider creating an account and helping here regularly? :-) ScarianTalk 00:14, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't think I'm expert enought to really help this project. I just found that page doing a search and wanted to give my small contribution. If I'll find something else to contribute in future, maybe I'll add some comments, even without helping regularly. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.42.116.103 (talk) 00:30, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

You don't need to be an expert! :-) Anyone who can write English can help and contribute in so many different ways. Is there any way I can persuade you? Because I sincerely would like to. ScarianTalk 13:06, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Please show me how you would have added that link, so that I can start building an expertise and see my mistake. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.42.228.236 (talk) 02:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the great comment about my sense of humor..! I really appreciate that...I'm still smiling... Saaay, you're not a Farscape fan are ya? Any relation?...;) Thanks for the support... Dreadstar 22:29, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, according to WP:ENGVAR, your English-English posts can be "humourous" and my American English can be "humorous"...but, then...if I'm posting on your talk-page-territory, perhaps I should be using the English-English too..unless this section is like the American Embassy of your Talk Page English Terriorty? Hmmm.. I'll have to think about that one...heh...
And oh, yes...I'm a big sci-fi fan..! Star Trek, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, even Eureka...love that show, very funny..! The new Dr. Who, too... And...speaking of English-English, I used to be a big Python fan...are ye interested in purchasing a Norwegian Blue..? Lovely plumage...;) Nice to meet you, my friend! Stuff

Did you see my note re: Ms. Starr? Also, quite a while back, I tagged Acoustic rock for being an unreferenced stub that oozes original research. It's been sitting dormant for a bit. Which isn't too harmful except it is being inserted... incorrectly... as a genre... into the genre field of several song/album/artist infoboxes... which is a poor use as A)it's uncited OR and B)it isn't even a genre it's simply a style of Rock music. Perhaps you could look in and see what I mean. I was going to consult Wiki-music policy pro PEJL about it... but he is probably not familiar with the library gang so he may not take the request too seriously. In my opinion... since it's been sitting as an orphaned piece of crap for so long... it should be rm'd. Nothing so drastic as an AfD or a Speedy D... but it could probably be re-directed to folk rock without too much hassle. It essentially dupes some of the essence of that genre article anyways. I can't re-direct anything(being a lowly scum anon and all :D ) What do you think? 156.34.220.123 00:22, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

One thing about re-directs.... you shouldn't redirect to a re-direct :D . You re-directed the page to Folk Rock(capital R) and Folk Rock(Capital R) is a re-direct to Folk rock(lowercase r) Only the first letter in a genre is capitalised. The correct re-direct be to "capital F" Folk "lowercase r" rock. Folk rock. Sorry for the hassle. I can't correct it myself. 156.34.142.110 13:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Pearland High School

Hey Scarian!

You reverted the additions I made on August 31st, 2007, of this year to both the Valedictorians-Salutatorians of Pearland High School and its notable alumni players. It appears you are a Brit, and doubt you have ever been to Pearland High School, much less survived it as I have. But if you want sources for the Valedictorians-Salutatorians of Pearland High School, there are multiple sources to consult: Each Gusher yearbook of each year, AND a plaque that has been hanging in the main office of Pearland High School for at least 30 years. The sources for my notable alumni are the National Football League offices in New York, New York, USA, or if you can't afford the plane fare, www.nfl.com.

I am very annoyed by someone who knows nothing of Pearland High School altering my additions of FACT to the page claiming it is "vandalism." It is nothing of the sort.

How do I know so much about Pearland High School? I am its 1989 Valedictorian; I know worlds more about it than you. How dare you remove facts and claim they are "vandalism?"

Cease and desist altering my additions of FACT to Pearland High School.

As for the name, "The University of Texas" -- that is the official name, including the "The" -- source, www.utexas.edu --- "University of Texas" without the noun determiner "The" is not used, and does not exist. Again, the english language in The United States of America uses the noun determiner "The" in front of *some* proper names, and the noun determiner "The" *is* used in this case; british english is not being used in this article.

As the rules state, "Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism."

Pearland High School

Well hello there, welcome to Wikipedia! I am very glad that you've decided to edit here :-)
You are correct I did, indeed, revert your edits to Pearland High School. I shall address individual points in your message. "Vandalism" - One popular past time for anon's is to go through school alumni's and changed the names there, often putting their own, or a friend's name to be 'cool'. I apologise for assuming it was vandalism straight away. But I was well within my rights as an editor to assume that it was vandalism seeing how common your error's are/were. I shall explain later on how they are errors.
"I see you are a Brit" - Please do not remove refer to me as a "Brit", you're making some sort of statement based on my nationality that could be considered as segregation. I believe it is also a reference to me not knowing about the High School. Please read WP:COI. No editor and/or contributor is better than any other editor/contributor.

But if you want sources for the Valedictorians-Salutatorians of Pearland High School, there are multiple sources to consult: Each Gusher yearbook of each year, AND a plaque that has been hanging in the main office of Pearland High School for at least 30 years.

Erm... Please read WP:CITE on how to cite and what is and is 'not appropriate for a citation. You see, your argument fails through on verifiability which is a key core of Wikipedia. If I can't verify something, then how do I know that what you're speaking is true? And you are quite correct, I can't get over there to check out your little yearbooks. Please read WP:VERIFY which is about why verifiability is important.

I am very annoyed by someone who knows nothing of Pearland High School altering my additions of FACT to the page claiming it is "vandalism." It is nothing of the sort.

Please calm down and read WP:CIVILITY.

How do I know so much about Pearland High School? I am its 1989 Valedictorian; I know worlds more about it than you. How dare you remove facts and claim they are "vandalism?"

You were the 1989 Valedictorian? Wow your parents must've been so proud. Well done.

As for the name...

Erm... there was no mention of any name change that I wrote about. Pronouns, which you referred to as "proper names", are not location specific... Even American English has its own pronouns, friend :-) -

And finally, the icing on the cake:

Notable alumni — Provide a bulleted list of notable alumni with a short description to explain why they are famous. Alumni without their own Wiki articles should always have third-party references.

- That quote was taken from the WikiProject Schools page. I am well read in how to edit and contribute to schools and colleges. I am also well read in Wikipedia's MoS. Any notable alumni that do not have their own article and/or a third party reference may be removed at any time.

Thank you for messaging me. If you require any assistance please do not hesitate to contact me. And, in the future, please do not take things so personally on Wikipedia. It is just an encyclopaedia - Oh, look! The "Brit" version of encyclopedia. Thanks. ScarianTalk 08:03, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

The Answer

I see you've done some clean up on The Answer article. I made a start on it at the weekend but there's more than enough work to go round there! I'm going to have another look at it later today maybe tomorrow - busy day / week at work ahead. Thanks. Kelpin 08:15, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Reply

Please know that I did not take the issues to his talk page because I felt you did not do a good job, I did it because it seemed he had not followed your advice, and I felt that perhaps a more thorough explanation could be helpful. That being said, I will be honest and advise you to check your sarcasm at the door when dealing with issues like this, because while I appreciate (and partake of) sarcasm, it really can be misinterpreted in a text-only forum such as this, and can also be considered WP:BITE-y. Things like "parents must be proud", and "Oh, look! The "Brit" version of encyclopedia.", while I understand the reasons, (to diffuse hostility), I think that ultimately, they may not come across quite the way you wished them to. But please don't take my comments negatively, I'm only giving you my opinion, as it seemed this particular user was not really open to humor or sarcasm, and was very defensive already, so it seemed that perhaps another reminder may be helpful, which is why I posted mine. I sincerely hope that the editor reads, and takes to heart, the things both you and I have said, as they are all valid points, so we shall see. ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 09:17, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Heh, sorry I don't know Swedish, but you can find a list of those who speak it on a native level here. Hope that helps! (And p.s. yes, in America, the Valedictorian is the person who was the top of their entire class in school.) ArielGold 09:55, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Please stop this. Spamming the user pages of people who carry the sv-N tag is not a good idea.-- era (Talk | History) 10:28, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
I do not think asking two users on that list for their assistance, could be considered "spamming", could it? Besides yourself, he only asked one other person, Bbx, from what I see. I suggested he ask for assistance from one of the users from that category, and I don't really think he intended to request help from every single user. ArielGold 10:33, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Maybe it was just in the presentation. If you can tell me why and what, I can take a look, but isn't there a dedicated forum for asking for this kind of help anyway?-- era (Talk | History) 10:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, and I apologize, as it was me who suggested that category. I've explained the issue on your userpage, and I look forward to your assistance, so I don't make the same mistake in the future! ArielGold 10:43, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Scarian, Era was kind enough to point me to the following page, so you should be able to get your help here: Wikipedia:Translation. Hope that helps! ArielGold 12:25, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Jonah Lomu Rugby

Some kid wrote a blurb about how he's undoubtedly the greatest player of all time, that's fine, but why is that on wikipedia??? I don't believe a word of it as I have been playing that game with a few friends for years and know every trick in the game, no way some 17 year old could be unbeaten for 8 years. please remove it from the section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.71.180.1 (talk) 15:50, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Done. I have removed the vandalism. Have you considered creating an account, friend? ScarianTalk 15:52, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Create an account??? Why would he want to go and do something like that :D . Accounts aren't req'd to edit Wikipedia y'know :D . 156.34.142.110 15:58, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Barclays

Only and idiot would change BACK that Barclays is 4th largest by assets but 28th by Market Capitalization! You're editing from within 1 Churchill Place and are pretty quick to jump up and change things. May I suggest you GET BACK TO WORK and stop internet gazing??!! And check your facts before reverting to spurious figures that slipped through the net MONTHS ago ;) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.140.250.54 (talk) 16:13, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

What? I don't work for Barclay's if that's what you're implying? I only reverted the edit when I saw the massive jump from 28th to 4th! I was like: "Wow, Barclay's has gone huge overnight". :-) ScarianTalk 16:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
You may not work for Barclays but the IP does. I've checked and Barclays are not in the top 10 by Market Cap. Market Cap and value of assets have no correlation. Valuation of assets is all down to accounting policies, while Market Cap depends on the market's expectations of profitability and growth. Kelpin 16:43, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Stressed at work - came on for 5 mins light relief. I have a degree in Accounting and Finance and I'm a Chartered Accountant by profession so this is one subject I know a little about. Kelpin 16:56, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Cleaned up some vandalism on the Barclays page - seemingly by disgruntled current employees looking at the IP addresses! I've now done 3 reverts on this page in under 24 hours so I will have to leave well alone for a day if you can keep an eye on it. Thanks. (Going home now). Kelpin 19:01, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Message

Dear Ms./Mr. Scarian,

I did not see any means of leaving you a message, so please excuse me for leaving it here. Recently I removed some racist/prejudiced statements from the Talk page of the Pip (Southpark Episode) article.

These prejudiced statements were an embarrassment to Wikipedia, and in no way helped with understanding the article.

I am witting for two reasons: Firstly, I originally assumed that (since the revert happened so quickly) that you had not actually read my changes, and that you were trusting your software that what I was doing was vandalism. If this is the case, then please be more conservative with reverts in the future.

Although I originally assumed that your restoring the racist/prejudiced statements was unintentional, after finding your user page having so many references to Britain, I am concerned that you may have restored the racist/prejudiced statements intentionally, since the statements were initially made in the name of Britain (and by a user who also claimed to be British). If this is the case, then please confine your opinions of other races/cultures to articles of which race and culture are the primary focus.

Once again, I apologize for leaving you a message here and for not having a screen name. I am new at this Wikipedia thing, and am making every effort to not let my ignorance of Wikipedia standards hinder the functionality of Wikipedia as a whole. Unfortunately, I will be unable to receive responses to this post, so once you have read it, take from it what you will delete it. Thank-you for your time.

Sincerely,

A British man who happens to live in California at the moment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.197.190.17 (talkcontribs)

Erm... In response to your comment, friend, I removed your edits because of the above [It's not so good to edit and remove others' comments from article discussion pages], also. It is frowned upon to remove and/or edit others' comments... but no harm done hopefully. I hope you settle into Wikipedia nicely :-) ScarianTalk 17:17, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for putting this message in the wrong place. I didn't know that users had a talk page also. My response is on my talk page (the one for my IP number) I don't know how to make a link to it (sorry)72.197.190.17 17:42, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Editing Makhno

Ok, I understand the message, however will you let me put "citations needed" in the many places where the authors make statements based on their ideology without any backing in facts? Please send me a message.

Blogging, & other stuff

I'm glad that I inspired you to blogging -- especially since I haven't updated my blog in at least a couple of weeks. (When I get out of the habit, it's hard to get back into it.) As for your concern about this entry, "a couple" literally meant two, drank over two hours, so I was not a danger to myself or anyone else -- I hope. -- llywrch 02:42, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

One for your watchlist

If it isn't too big already (my former account watchlist had over 4000 pages in it!!!!) could you add Carol Kaye to your watchlist. Ms. Kaye is one of the most respected session bass players of the modern Rock world. However there is a small section in her article about disputed session credits. It's small and insignificant... but it has a reference so it has some validity. That being said, the page seems to be monitored by an editor who does not like any negative blemishes appearing in the article and has... on several occasions.... blanked the entire section. I've restored it. Could you peep in every now and then to see that it isn't vandalised again. 156.34.142.110 13:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Help

Any ideas what's gone wrong with this article or how to fix it [1] - if you look at the refs at the bottom numbers 26 - 35 are all sort of horribly merged. If not can you suggest someone who might know? Thanks. Kelpin 18:33, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[2] - just needed to be closed :-) Take care! ScarianTalk 18:54, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that - I'm still learning how to use the ref thing for citations (though it wasn't me that posted the original mistake this time!). Kelpin 18:57, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Sometimes I wish Wikipedia was a forum - I was so tempted to post on the injustice of yesterday's decision where one of the culprits walks away scot free - whereas Ron Dennis who reported the crime, and played no part in it is the one who gets punished! Oh well - at least no one can say the article is poorly referenced. Have a good evening. Kelpin 19:00, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Minor edits

Hi, just to let you know that edits such as this aren't minor. See Wikipedia:Minor edit for more info! It may sound like I'm being petty, but it is considered very bad etiquette to misuse that checkbox! Cheers,--Rambutan (talk) 19:08, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Well I think it loads fine... it's 37kb and I usually archive mine at 45 (it still loads fine at 45). ScarianTalk 19:03, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
I did say long rather than large - it's tiresome to scroll down to the end, when a bot can automatically do it, or you could manually do it once a month. I'd recommend what I do, MiszaBot III - follow those instructions just linked to to do it. Cheers,--Rambutan (talk) 19:05, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry, friend, but that is what contents pages are for... they're there so you don't have to scroll down. ScarianTalk 19:38, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Why are you having this really stupid argument?--Rambutan (talk) 20:40, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

It's Friday night Scarian

Wiki will do just fine tonight. Take a break and go out and do something... "Non" wiki-ish :D . You've had a busy day and you've earned the rest :D . As for me... a huge hazelnut coffee... and a borrowed Martin OM will clear my head of all wikiwebs this eve. And if Wikipedia get vandalised while we're ignoring it... so what eh! :D . Have a nice day! AHOY! Libs. 156.34.225.235 22:38, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Little Walter page

Scarian, What do you have against Little Walter? Why do you keep removing verifiable, referenced information and quotes from his bio? The things you keep removing because you think they qualify as POV happen to accepted by virtually all experts on the subject as important and relevant contextual information, which you'd know if you looked at the references. If you have a personal problem with Little Walter, leave his entry to experts on the subject, because the changes you insist on making reek of vandalism to me.

If you really need to excersize your POV editing skills, why don't you check out the Muddy Waters article, or better yet, some subject you have more than a casual knowledgeable about?

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.253.211.244 (talk) 20:35, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Haha, I love messages like these. Okay so here's the deal: I was asked by an experienced user to conduct a POV removal on said article. I did so and I asked him to check to make sure it was all alright. He confirmed this. The article was POV laden as confirmed by an administrator. My edits reek of vandalism? I doubt that friend seeing as over 1000 of my edits in my brief period of time here have been spent removing vandalism.
As to your statement about accepted by experts and everyone else alike - [weasel words]. That is a view. An opinion. You cannot write: "He was a revolutionary harmonica player" - It's a point of view. Please read WP:POV.
As to your "verifiable sources" - one of them was a fansite. I wouldn't call that an indepedent, third party source, would you? Please read WP:Verify and WP:CITE.
Please do not tell me what I can and cannot edit. Anyone may edit any article. There are no restrictions, technically, that prevent people from doing so.
If you have any further questions or require any assistance please do not hesitate to contact me, friend. ScarianTalk 00:11, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Now this is funny

Wow! This guy does some half decent edits... but he has a Wiki-policy IQ of zero. Check out the completely retarded stuff he did that had to be reverted. With clear links to the policies he's obviously never read. And then he has the gal to whiny-baby to a project that has very few "truly" active members that have much better things to do then to listen to someone sookie :D . I've seen them all though... this loser is FAR from the worst that's comet through here in the last 2+ years. Ahoy! 156.34.217.216 03:44, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I left a nice comment there to show him the light... hehe... Hooah! [3] ScarianTalk 03:50, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
If he didn't have an "anti-anon" stance he would've just read the policy. My AGF is that he will become a good editor someday. Like I said... I've been here forever and, after over 40000 edits to this little project.... I've seen 'em all. Perhaps if I wasn't so perfect and had actually made a mistake somewhere along the way I'd be more forgiving. But since I've never been wrong... all I can do is AGF. Now isn't that a good load of manure :D Have a nice day and good luck with your edits! 156.34.217.216 03:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
I suppose it must get easier as time go's by to control your temper, too! Like when some jackass pulls you up about misusing the minor edit check box... People can be so picky sometimes! [4] - He's been blocked at least a dozen times for 3RR's and incivility. Just be glad that I.P.'s don't have minor check boxes! Hehe, cheers you too! ScarianTalk 04:11, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Oooo you got a shiny! Say... could you watch David Bowie and Billy Sheehan for me for a bit. Both are being trolled by a copyvio uploader called "Speirsr" who also edits under the 207.112.X range. I tagged their copyvio upload and sent lots of warnings. They are persistent. All help would be appreciated. Thanks. 156.34.218.58 02:53, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Just like a pack of wolves :D . Nothing bad can happen to Wiki when you're on duty. He has a new IP # BTW... he returned to the Sheehan article after your last rvv. I got it. Thanks for your help! 156.34.218.58 10:03, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

How's it going? I notice editing has slowed down on Hebridean Brewing Company, yet there's still a large "work in progress" box on top. All wiki articles are works in progress so there is no need for such a box. However, if you are working on an article for an extended period and don't want an edit conflict, then you can use one of these templates: Wikipedia:Template_messages/Maintenance#Articles_undergoing_major_edits. I hope that helps! Regards SilkTork *** SilkyTalk 17:04, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Good edits

[Wiki Merit badge given is now archived on a separate page]

PS. You mark the majority of your edits as minor, yet not all of them are. Are you set up to mark edits as minor by default? It's usually considered best when adding or removing content to not have the minor edit box checked. Your edits are sound, however because minor edits are not picked up by patrollers, some editors prefer most edits not to be marked as minor: Help:Minor_edit#Things_to_remember. It's probably something you hadn't noticed. Regards again. SilkTork *** SilkyTalk 17:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Excellent. I suppose the best way to do it across wiki would be almost like a correspondence style and just each make like Chess Subpage and we would post our moves on the opposing page ? Just a suggestion, I'm up for anything.

Barneca RfA thank you spam

Scarian, thank you for your support during my RfA. If the concerns that were brought up by other editors gave you second thoughts, rest assured that I'll keep all of the comments in mind in the coming months, and will try again later. In the mean time, if you see me doing something stupid, please let me know. See you around. --barneca (talk) 12:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Don't worry, putting yourself up for an RfA, I assume, must be a rather traumatic experience, in it's own way. You gave honest answer's and I like that a lot. There are some hardliner's who scout out the RfA candidates like private investigator's willing to dig up anything in order to discredit a candidate.
You seem like you'll work on some of the points raised by the other editor's and that's a really good thing :-) - If you need any help please do not hesitate to ask me (You are, most likely, more experienced than myself any way, heh). And their opinions wouldn't give me second thoughts anyway - I'd be happy to support you in the future. And, finally, Wikipedia can all make us a little pissed sometimes! Take care! The now-traditional RFA thank-spam

RFA Thanks!

Thanks for your participation for my RFA bid and for your support.--JForget 23:42, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Nehrams2020 RfA Thanks

Thank you for your participation in my RfA, which closed successfully with unanimous support. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and vote and I can't wait to learn the new tools and further immerse myself into Wikipedia! Please don't hesitate to point out any errors I make so I can prevent them from occurring again. I'm always here to help, so if you ever need anything, just let me know. Also, thanks to Wizardman for nominating me and for guiding many other editors to become admins. Again, thank you and happy editing! --Nehrams2020 06:59, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Blockie

Haha! I was wondering if you'd notice that I did that one..! Didist thou also noteth thine Knighting ceremony under the auspices of the lovely Lady ArielGold, Sir Scarian? Thou art most deserving of the honor of WikiKnighthood and a Barony of suitable style and size...;) Dreadstar 07:17, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I am heading out and off of vandal patrol. Scuba Diving has been hit hard today by random editors with the same stuff and I have been pretty much final warning people who put the same stuff from different IPs as either they are working together or the same person using open proxies. Have fun! Spryde 15:09, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh heck no, I am just going to lunch and doing some actual work today :) Spryde 15:13, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

My RFA

Thank you for your support in my Request for Adminship, which passed with 50 supports, 1 neutral, and 1 oppose. My goal is to keep earning your trust every time I grab the "mop". (And I'm always open to constructive criticism and advice!) Again, thanks. --Fabrictramp 15:11, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Californication Episode Deletion

Hey. This seems to be where the edit took place: 05:36, 19 September 2007 58.111.124.182 (Talk) (6,543 bytes) (→International broadcasters) (undo) It might have been an accident, but I think we should repost it. IanLamberson 22:06, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

  • I removed the episode synopses from the main Californication article because most other TV shows on Wikipedia are not formated in that template. I do not know if you noticed but I moved the synopses to List of Californication episodes (which is linked in the infobox in the main article) and each entry on the List of Californication episodes has an individual entry were each episode can be described in detail. Normally the main article about the show has genearl details about the show, whole season recaps, and production details. — Steven Andrew Miller (talk) 22:56, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Lifted music

Hey Scarian. The lead has been done, and corrected a few things in the article as well. I'll re upload the logo once I know the article will be posted on wiki. Please let me know if it is still not neutral in your eyes. cheers for the help! Nurow

hi there. Made some changes, please let me know what you think. cheers.( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Nurow/Sandbox ) Nurow

Thanks for the input Scarian! Do you think the article is neutral enough now, or shall I strip more? Thanks. Nurow —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 12:22, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

One more thing...

Thanks for being calm and reasonable regarding the RfA comment; it makes a nice change when people discuss in that manner. One more thing, this edit from Pascal.Tesson on markles' RfA repeats what I told you, though using a different explanation. I hope it helps. :) Acalamari 23:53, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Bearian's RfA

Upgrading spam warning on User talk:212.54.184.150‎

I doubt you have a problem with this, but to avoid stepping on your toes, I'll leave you a note. I've upgraded your spam warning to this user; they've been doing it all day. I usually hesitate to screw around with other people's edits, so let me know if you think I stepped out of line here, and I won't do it again. --barneca (talk) 16:49, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

I've been hoping for more eyes on the Islam/US article. Appreciate the note. Cheers--Jonashart 19:21, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Got your note. Patience in these sorts of matters begins to wear thin. I've pre-edited some of my replies such that I don't violate rules and such. But it is hard. There is a group determined to have their opinion voiced...regardless of it's validity or truth. Do us the favor of keeping an eye on this one, eh? Appreciate it.--Jonashart 19:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh, so far so good. Haven't gotten myself into any trouble to date. Unlike many, I keep a fairly public profile. And being stupid could come back to bite me in the less virtual world.--Jonashart 19:38, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Two favours

If you're not too busy(you;re not doing too much around here yet are you :D Could you A) watch the Iron Maiden and Cradle of Filth pages for a user who hasn't got a grasp on WP:CON's partnership with WP:ENGVAR when it comes to "Non-Yankee" band grammar. And... this ones easy... B) Take a peak at Chris Duarte and tell me if it doesn't look like Non-notable advertising/self-promotion. He made himself a "see also" on the great John McLaughlin's page... simply because he's influenced by him. That's "grasping" in my eyes. His article just screams copyvio from an external websource... either his own or a fanpage blurb somewhere. These ones are easy pick-offs. Much grats from my end if you could keep an eyeball peeled on them. Thanks! 156.34.218.130 01:38, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Um... I don't like having to point out a typo but you made one that I thought you should be made aware of. You spelled support wrong over at Talk:Iron Maiden. Not sure how you made such a glowing error on such a simple word but somehow it came out spelled as oppose???? Not sure what happened there??? You may want to go back and correct it :D :D :D :D . 156.34.218.130 10:17, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh crap... Was I supposed to support or oppose? :-| I don't even know! I just tried following WikiAlf's decision!! ScarianTalk 11:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
HAHA! Following Alf's decision??? Thou must thinks for thyself :D . My post was just early morning trickery... if you truly oppose then that is your decision and that is fine. I was just being a smartass because if I were allowed to vote I would've voted support. Iron Maiden are a band... and it is a torture device(a very famous one at that thanks to Bill and Ted). And with that... following most Wiki tradition the band's name would get (band) tagged onto the end of it. Like Saxon vs Saxon (band) or Japan vs Japan (band). It isn't that way 100% on Wiki though so there is some precedence set that (band) doesn't always follow a disambig band name. Look at U2 for instance. Not having (band) after Iron Maiden makes the assumption that anyone coming to Wiki and searching for Iron Maiden will, most likely, be looking for the band. In my humble opinion and encyclopedia should never make assumptions about anything. If it were me... both Iron Maiden and U2(and all others) would have (band) after their name. But that's just me.... if you disagree then that is perfectly absolutely totally great... because that's what Wikipedia is all about. Sorry for the ruse.( although it did give me a good chuckle and I nearly passed an entire cup of hot coffee through my nose :D ) Have a nice day! 156.34.142.110 12:00, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Funny page

Hello, I saw your funny page, I thought you might appreciate a look at mine. It's located here. I also changed the "KOS" user link to the proper KnowledgeOfSelf one. Cheers. KOS | talk 04:34, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Haha! Cheers for pointing that out. Wikipedia vandalism and errors are funny in so many ways :-D - For the time being my little page doesn't compare to yours ;-) But I shall hunt down more funny Wikipedia things! Take care, friend. ScarianTalk 22:36, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Ho, ho, (I'm not calling you one I promise!), I've added my favorite funniness to my funny page now, it turns out I've beaten the Anti-Vandal-Bot on IRC, quite a few times. Really made my day when I found out! :P Happy editing. KOS | talk 04:04, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! :D

Thanks Scarian/Archive 3

Ratings comparison

Hi Scarian,

What I'm looking for is a list of games that showed at least 3 separate ratings for each of them. Thanks -- Mwalcoff 00:02, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry -- I know it would be tough to find; that's why I'm hoping someone remembers what I'm talking about. Thanks. -- Mwalcoff 00:15, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Is/Are

Hey Man. I don't think you're right, but I've taken it to the talk page at WP:ENGVAR if you want to jump in. Cheers, Cardinal Wurzel 11:54, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
