November 2015[edit]

Sorry I am not clear on why the page in question cannot be removed? I am willing to provide details to provide proof that I am the individual the page is referring to.

The rationale you provided for the nomination is not valid. Please see Wikipedia's deletion policy for more information. — Jkudlick tcs 18:11, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I just want to be clear: you're claiming to be Sean Lynch, who plays for Stenhousemuir F.C.? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 18:16, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I can confirm that I am claiming to be Sean Lynch who played for Stenhousemuir F.C. I no longer play for Stenhousemuir F.C. or professional sport.

Would the following be considered valid rationale? Where the subject of a BLP has requested deletion, the deletion policy says: "Discussions concerning biographical articles of relatively unknown, non-public figures, where the subject has requested deletion and there is no rough consensus, may be closed as delete." WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE.

We'll sort this out somehow. Just curious: why can't the article simply be updated that you no longer play professionally? You're quite certain that you want it deleted? I've tagged the article as needing an update and alerted the folks at WikiProject Football. best, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 18:58, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Would you be able to provide details regarding how I can provide valid rationale? The main reason I would like the page removed is that it would appear to be hampering my current search for a new career. I can provide additional details and proof if necessary.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've never dealt with this situation before. But no worries, others have. We'll sort this out. Thanks for your patience. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 19:13, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I appreciate your efforts.

Sure thing. Sorry about the mixup. I've raised this with our administrators. I want to do this in a way which also protects your privacy, and any personal info you may need to provide. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 19:21, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

(talk page stalker) I think you may need to contact the volunteer response team here click the link on the left re articles ('about you'). Eagleash (talk) 20:21, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. However, it would appear they are not able to delete a page through email.

Sean, you've tried emailing them and this is what they'd said? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 23:01, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shawn, yes that is correct. The reply that was provided was as follows: "Requests for deletion of an article are not processed by email, with the exception of articles which are grossly libelous or otherwise completely unsuitable."

Presumably you've asked them what it is you do need to do? Eagleash (talk) 08:20, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was initially advised to take the action I am currently doing so have now asked for clarification.. I want to emphasise that I really do appreciate all the help I am receiving with my issue from you guys. Thank you.

  • Okay. One thing to keep in mind, as has been pointed out at Wikipedia's Football project: even if you were to be successful in deleting this article, the Web would still have lots of content on you having played football. There's no way to make that history go away, regardless of the fate of this one page. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 15:41, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shawn, yes I totally understand that. My only priority is to to have this specific page removed.

Not sure what you were wanting to do here, but the result was the Articles for Deletion page itself got nominated for deletion! : Noyster (talk), 14:04, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Noyster, I am attempting to remove the the page. I followed the instruction provided I received from wikipedia experienced admin. Can you help inform me what I did wrong? I appreciate any help you can provide.

(talk page stalker) It looks as though you were trying to add the page to the articles for deletion but instead accidentally tagged the aricles for deletion page itself. If you have been advised to add the page to articles for deletion, the instructions are here. It's not as difficult as it seems at first sight. Click preview before saving anything (!) and if it all looks right then save the page. After adding the tag there should be a bold link to start the discussion off. On another point please sign your posts on talk pages by typing 4 tildes (~~~~) this will sign and date your messages automatically. If you want to draw the attention of another user type {{U|name of user}} in the post (usually at the start). Eagleash (talk) 20:03, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Except that Sean's first attempt to have the article deleted at Afd was refused and I don't know that renominating it for deletion again will have any more success. He's too notable for WP:BLPDELETE to apply. The response at WP:OTRS has not been encouraging in terms of Sean's desire to make this article disappear, either, far as I know. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 20:54, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Shawn in Montreal Aha, I didn't realise AfD had already failed. I can't say I'm surprised, not really what it's intended for. I have always been under the impression that if an individual had an issue with their own page, then the response team would be the way it was dealt with & that if someone was genuinely not happy, for whatever reason, they would receive sympathetic consideration. Eagleash (talk) 21:05, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, it really doesn't work that way, in my experience. If there was anything wrong with the article that would be another matter, but article subjects don't get a say on whether they have an article or not, if they are notable. As Sean is, per WP:NFOOTY. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 21:50, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I still awaiting a response from my email reply to the situation (3-days now). Would you guys have any other suggestions on how I could approach my issue?

  • Sorry, no. I'm all out. Without knowing the rather mysterious details (which is none of my business) I'm no longer optimistic that you can get this article removed, actually, per WP:OWN. I do hope this works out for you. best, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 14:47, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shawn, thanks for your help I really appreciate it. I will attempt to contact the experienced admins again via email.

Following on from the outcome of the administrator decision regarding the page, which I fully accept. I have provided links that would make the page more accurate and up to date.
