Can you explain why a genitive case is used for women's names in Greek?? Does it translate as "Belonging to a certain family??" Thanks!! Shahrdad (talk) 17:54, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply-

I cannot explain why this is done in Greek. I only wanted to correct the impression that -ou is a feminine nominative termination. Many languages have similar naming conventions meaning "son of", eg McCarthy etc. I am not even sure that it is a systematic naming system.

Thank you! Shahrdad (talk) 14:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
