Nusantara Archipelago was speedily deleted as an copy of id:Nusantara. If you still think it's worth translating, you'll need to start from that source. Jamie 10:31, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

General Election Committee

Redundant categories

[edit]

Hi, Sepa. I'm going through and reverting a bunch of the changes you've just made to the categories of airliner accidents. The two categories you've been adding were already in those articles by virtue of the other categories; for example, on Korean Air Flight 007, it was already in Category:Airliner shootdowns. The immediate parent of that category is Category:Accidents and incidents in the aviation sector, one of the categories you added, and if you look further up the category tree from that one, you find Category:Aviation history. That's true with any other article that has an accident-related category. So adding those is no good — we want to make the categories more specific, not less. Hope this helps! —Cleared as filed. 15:19, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you're trying to do, but we never want redundant categories in an article; so if it's in a subcategory, it shouldn't be in one of the parents of that subcategory too. On the other hand, if you think the organization of the subcategories could use some work, we should definitely talk about how they can be fixed. But just adding everything to the parent category wrecks the existing category structure. Thanks! —Cleared as filed. 15:40, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, category sorting is something we should be trying to do in every category; if there's an article that belongs in a subcategory but it's in a parent category instead, it should be removed from the parent category and placed in the subcategory instead. That keeps parent categories from getting unmanageably large. And it's true that overlapping subcategories are usually a good thing, so if an accident was caused by both weather and pilot error, there's no reason to not put it in both of those categories. Thanks again for your help! —Cleared as filed. 15:58, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kakawin Hariwangsa

[edit]

Yes I am looking into it. Are you also interested in Old-Javanese literature? Well I'll write to you later. Meursault2004 11:17, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re. Indonesian

[edit]

Hi Sepa

I spent four years in Indonesia and my wife is from Semarang, so I get a fair bit of practice. One problem though is how quickly the language changes, so that if you are away for a few years there are suddenly lots of new words you don't know. I've got the Indonesian board on my watchlist - I'll probably do a bit more before long. I was attracted to the Pangandaran article because I've been there, though I suppose it is much more commercialized now. Rhion 16:54, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kakawin

[edit]

Well I must say I am happy to find out there is someone else here on Wikipedia who is interested in Old-Javanese literature :-) Thank you for your interest.

I think it is a good idea to make a new category on kakawin. We already have at least three of them: Kakawin Ramayana, Kakawin Bharatayuddha, and Kakawin Hariwangsa.

I'll expand your article on kakawin. Please let me know where do you come from? Are you an Australian? I am wondering this because you cite the work of Helen Creese :-)

At this moment I am a bit busy and in addition to that I am following all the games of the FIFA WC 2006 so I am having a kind of wikibreak ... But don't worry I will look into the kakawin. Well see you later! Meursault2004 10:08, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well actually it's not a wikibreak I am having but some sort of field research. So afterwards I can write articles about this event :-)
So you know Dr. Tom Hunter? I have regular contact with him. Did you know that he is at this moment working on the Kakawin Sumanasantaka together with Dr. S. Supomo? Well perhaps we can write an article about this kakawin.
Well although I do speak Javanese, Indonesian, and Dutch besides English, my English is not perfect. So you'll have to proofread my contributions!
BTW I have also written Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. This article can also be included in the Kakawin category. Meursault2004 12:14, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kylie, nice to make your acquaintance. Kylie is a girl’s name right? Just as in Kylie Minogue? You already know my name :-) At least you can find it on my user page.

Well Dr. Tom Hunter is at this moment living in Denpasar with his Balinese wife. His wife (I keep forgetting her name, but I think it’s Aryati or something like that) is at this moment completing her PhD thesis. But sometimes he is also to be found in Yogyakarta helping foreign students (especially American ones). Now he is also helping victims of the quake in Yogyakarta and surroundings.

Yes I have just read Kartini, I just noticed that it is a translation of the Indonesian article! It has been nicely translated. Perhaps I can add some facts later.

I think you corrections on Bhinneka Tunggal Ika are good. Thank you! Well the week just started again, so I think I won’t be able to watch the football matches now as I have to work ... although I must say that I have watched all games up until now. BTW at this moment I am in the Netherlands. Cheers also! Meursault2004 10:19, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alas it's a pity! I missed Australia-Japan! I just read it was a very exciting game! Well I was at work ... Meursault2004 17:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kylie, at this moment I am finishing my PhD thesis in the Netherlands. In the meantime I am working at the customer service of a big automotive company for a living. I hope to have finished my thesis by the end of this year. So I can return to Indonesia  On the other hand I have been living in the Netherlands for 20 years now. Although I must say that in the past 6-7 years I was also often to be found in Indonesia.

My PhD thesis is a text edition of a Middle-Javanese text. The text in question is Tantri. It is a Javanese version of the most celebrated Indian Pañcatantra.

London is a nice place to be. But everything is very expensive there! Unless you have of course a decent job then it’s even nicer to be there! Anyway I am just kidding. So you are 32 y.o. I will be 31 later this years.

I also try to watch all matches esp. in weekends. So I also wouldn't miss Australia-Brazil. I hope for you Australia would win the match. Brazil has won enough ... Meursault2004 09:42, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Indonesia

[edit]

Hey there, I'm a fellow Indonesian. I was thinking probably we could make a well-establish WikiProject Indonesia, apart from the regional notice board. It saddens me that even the Indonesia article is not a featured article. What do you think about that? Oh, have you checked the new Portal:Indonesia? Looking forward to your reply. Take care and cheers -- Imoeng 11:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

{{helpme}} please!

I have moved a page, and would like to transfer the history of the old page across to the new page, Thanks.

Hello Sepa, Could you please tell us the name of the page?--§hanel 18:05, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. The original page is Saint Aidan, and the new page is Maedoc. Thanks.
I've merged the histories of the two articles. In the future, if you want to move a page, just click on the "move tab." This will move both the contents of the page and the history. Cheers!--§hanel 18:12, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Saints

[edit]

Thanks for your work. As you may have noticed, I too hurriedly took advantage of information available to me during my present visit to Ireland to complete the Ireland part of Roman Catholic calendar of saints and to provide on the added saints the very few words of explanation at my immediate disposal. Too hurriedly: I have not enough time. Too hurriedly: if I had first examined similar articles on saints, I would have known what categories to add. But then I might not have been able to insert all the information I have here. I leave Ireland in less than 48 hours and will not be back on my own base for two weeks. So what you can do now is certainly appreciated by me, and doubtless by others. By the way, I have no intention of adding other saints. Lima 19:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Indonesia Collaboration

[edit]

Hey there, I just want to ask for your suggestion. As we all know, there are just few "good" Indonesian articles, which means lots of effort is needed to improve them. What do you reckon about this collaboration plan? Please put any suggestion and respond on the WikiProject's talk page. Cheers, take care -- Imoeng 11:58, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a FYI when you tag something for copyvio make sure you blank the page and put {{copyvio|url=url}} on the page rather than just {{copyvio}}. That makes it easier for the rest of us here. Whispering(talk/c) 16:41, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration

[edit]

The new collaboration page has been created. For now, it is a "collaboration of the week" with standard rules and stuff, which later we can decide for any changes. But now, lets start nominating articles (one article for each person!) and voting. Please take a look at the page. Cheers -- Imoeng 11:22, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help Request

[edit]

Hello, you used the {{helpme}} tag. How may I help you? When you've asked your question, please put the tag back so we know to check back. Alternatively, you can join the Wikipedia Bootcamp IRC channel to get real-time help. (Use the web-based client to get instant access.) Luna Santin 11:10, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah... depending on the article in question, you may be able to Google select passages, and see if they turn up. In the event they do, you can place {{db-copyvio|url goes here}} at the top of the article. Barring that, you can always see if you can revert, remove, or improve the copyvio. You can find some more information on this at Wikipedia:Copyrights, which should include links to a few other helpful pages. You're also welcome to let me know if you need any further advice, of course. :) Luna Santin 11:16, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha. If worst comes to worst, you can always post to the village pump or another appropriate page to ask for input from other users. Categorization is important stuff, I do a lot of talking at CfD. :) Happy editing. Luna Santin 11:26, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds reasonable. Could also drop off {{nothanks}} at the user's talk page, possibly explaining the difference between citing sources and plagiarism -- depending on how involved you'd like to get. Luna Santin 11:38, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've found another article, Kertarajasa, which discusses the same person as the Raden Wijaya article you wrote. Can you merge your article with that and decide which title should be used.Wai Hong 00:44, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Indonesia Newsletter

[edit]
WikiProject Indonesia has grown incredibly! Two months ago, when the project was created, there were only two members, but now, we have got over 20 members, and hopefully it will keep increasing. Because of this large number, now WikiProject Indonesia has it's own newsletter, which will be delivered every week on Monday morning, around 22:00 (UTC). If you have any idea and suggestions, please do not hesitate to contribute to the next newsletters. We also need to find a better banner for the newsletter, so just post it on project's talk page. With your help, we can reach the even the impossible goal!
"Bersatu kita teguh, bercerai kita runtuh"
What's new?
Several ways to increase the interactions between editors have been proposed. For now, the best solution would be the IRC Channel just for WikiProject Indonesia. Please go to #wikipedia-id if you have had experiences with IRC Channels. Or read the instructions at Wikipedia:IRC.

Three new barnstar design have been proposed! If you find a great editor with excellent contributions to Indonesia-related articles, give him/her a barnstar, or maybe two or three! See the barnstars at Wikiproject Indonesia Barnstars.

Articles improvements
The previous two weeks were maybe the best and tiring week for some of us. On the good side, we have got a new Good Article, which is Toraja. Congratulations for all editors who have involved in the expansion. Yet we have failed to get two Good Article status, which are Tourism in Indonesia and Indonesia. However with the spirit of 1945 we will always accomplish many things!

Starting this week (October 17), the collaboration durations have been extended, so now we can collaborate to improve a particular article for two weeks straight. Please leave any recommendations or suggestions on the collaboration talk page.

Many thanks to MartinBotII, a state-of-the-art Martinp23's bot for delivering the newsletter

Java collaboration

[edit]

Hi Sepa! Starting today, the Indonesia Collaboration is Java. Come along and help make this an article worthy of the world’s greatest island. There’s a suggested to-do list on the the talk page to which you can add, or just pick a task. All sorts of tasks are required, Images, Citations, Research, Copy Edit; you name it, it needs to be done – this important article needs your help!! Regards -- Imoeng 08:45, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Indonesia Newsletter

[edit]
Last week, two more members have joined the project, and really boost the progress of articles editing. Danny Yee and Lestari, welcome to the project, hopefully you will enjoy your stay. So, we officially have got 26 members!

More than 440 articles have been tagged with the WikiProject Indonesia template, well done to all editors who have contributed this far. Also, while copy-editing is a very useful thing to do, researching and expanding the article, or maybe one or two sections would be extremely useful, because it is the goal of the collaboration, expanding and getting a good article status.

What's new?
Several ways to increase the interactions between editors have been proposed. For now, the best solution would be the IRC Channel just for WikiProject Indonesia. Please go to #wikipedia-id if you have had experiences with IRC Channels. Or read the instructions at Wikipedia:IRC.

For people who choose not to receive this newsletter, please add your name to this list. Instead of receiving this newsletter, the bot will only send you the link to a particular newsletter.

Articles improvements
We have got another Good Article nomination! Congratulations to all editors, especially Indon, who have improved it significantly, maybe you can give six barnstars. So, with the nomination, we officially have had four good articles. Hopefully we can get plenty good articles in the future, or even featured articles.

The last collaboration was not a huge success, the Pulau Dewata is still a "start" article and has not improved much. However, seems like the collaboration spirit is back and Java has improved gradually, thanks to all editors.

Many thanks to MartinBotII, a state-of-the-art Martinp23's bot for delivering the newsletter

If you prefer to get a link to the next newsletters instead of receiving them, please add your name to this list.

Indonesia collaboration

[edit]

Hi Sepa! It's the last few days of the Garuda Indonesia collaboration. Please contribute!!!

Also, could you please vote for the next fortnight's collaboration? Please vote down the bottom of this page. The collab for the fortnight will be decided this Sunday 26th (or Monday at the latest). By the way, we could also chose Garuda Indonesia for another week.

So please visit and help choose the next article. Any questions/comments, please let me know. I'd love to hear from you particularly if you have any good suggestions! :-) --Merbabu 10:26, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Sepa! This fortnight we've chosen: >>>Majapahit Kingdom<<<. Please help in referencing, check my newly added headings, improve prose, diagrams, but most importantly is RESEARCH so we can actually grow the article. Any other suggestions for improvement, please leave on the article's talk page. Yes, please discuss on talk page!
Also, can you please post suggestions for the following fortnight's collaboration. Please leave your suggestions at the bottom of this page. Hopefully i will remember to remind you to vote in about a week (someone else remind me!).--Merbabu 14:24, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Sepa. For the next two weeks we have chosen >>>Indonesian War of Independence<<< for the Indonesia Collab. Also, please vote for the next fortnight. Maybe we should chose a stub article. So far, we have had already longish articles and they are therfore hard to expand. Here's a list of Indonesian underdeveloped articles: [1]. Please let me know if you have any suggestions (or if you do not want me to message you about the collabs). kind regards --Merbabu 12:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New collaboration...

Hello everybody. I’ve updated the current Indonesia collaboration to > > > Central Java < < <

This article’s not in a very good condition but such a significant part of Indonesia, the cultural heart of the Javanese. Please contribute! Thanks to all those contributed to the previous collaboration Sidoarjo mud flow particularly Indon.

The next collaboration...

For the next collaboration in a fortnight, I’d like to try something different. Let’s chose a stub rather than an already well-developed article. Here is a list of Indonesian stubs to choose (there’s two pages). Please check the article's importance rating – let's chose an important and significant article that will appeal to a broad range of people. Please do not choose an obscure and/or esoteric topic that is not very important. Please place your nomination here.

Any questions, please let me know. Kind regards --Merbabu 05:02, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
