Hi. When you recently edited Shahid Siddiqui, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ajit Singh (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I'm not sure which edit of mine you are referring to but as I had mentioned over at [[1]] a few days back, the quality of my edits have sufferred after the Yuvipanda assessment bar mysteriously dissappeared on all the computers and browsers from which I edit. Can you help fix it? Thanks Sesamevoila (talk) 04:55, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

The article has been assessed as Start-Class, which is recorded on the article's talk page. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you are more than welcome to continue submitting work to Articles for Creation.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

I have also answered your question at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Any way to accelerate the Articles for Creation Review Process?. Happy editing! Keilana|Parlez ici 17:22, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks very much User:Keilana, the other two articles I created were done directly but colleagues I had initiated into editing had their articles speedily deleted and I thought I would try out this method before recommending it to them. The severe backlog at Articles for Creation makes it a virtually useless alternative, I must say.
Agreed, I should probably help out there more! Keilana|Parlez ici 18:36, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

CVUA

Hi! I am Electriccatfish2 and will be your CVUA instructor. Before we begin, please tell me the following:

  • What you would like to learn.
  • What are your goals?
  • What tools would you like to use.
  • Do you have Twinkle installed?
  • If you want to use STiki, do you have permission to use it?

Thanks, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 11:46, 4 July 2012 (UTC).

Hi, Electriccatfish2, thanks for taking me on board. To answer your queries:
  • What you would like to learn:

I'd like to learn how to use the available tools to revert vandalism because this is an increasing nuisance on pages to do with my part of the world, as awareness about Wikipedia, and the ease with which it can be vandalised increases

  • What are your goals?

I have so far been creating and editing articles, and generally engaging in wikignome activities. I would like to deepen my engagement with wikipedia and reverting vandalism seems to be a useful goal to work towards. The CVUA also happens to be the first academy I have come across on wikipedia; I don't know if there are any others.

  • What tools would you like to use.

I have seen twinkle and stiki as tools of choice when rummaging through talk pages which is why I put them both in my application. I am open to work with any tool so long as it's not too complicated and gets the job done.

  • Do you have Twinkle installed?

No

  • If you want to use STiki, do you have permission to use it?

No...didn't know I required permission to use it. P.S. I just checked up on the STiki pages..apparently I need a thousand edits to be able to use that tool. I hope the other toolls don't have such requirements since I have only about 300+ edits in the article namespace

Hope that answers your queries, Cheers, Sesamevoila (talk) 12:42, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi! First of all, we are the only specialized academy here. Admin coaching was cancelled a few years ago. There is the Teahouse and Adopt-a-User, though. Also, don't worry, I can request STiki to be enabled on your account. However, please enable Twinkle by checking off the box "Enable Twinkle", which can be found in the "My Preferences" link at the top of your screen. Cheers, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 20:19, 4 July 2012 (UTC).

Please leave a talkback message when you are done. Thanks, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 16:39, 8 July 2012 (UTC).
I did leave a message after I was done...I guess the confusion is because there are two sections with the subject CVUA. Btw, I had to revert vandalism at Hina Rabbani Khar..am not sure if I did it right Sesamevoila (talk) 17:14, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes you did it correctly, but next time, you should also warn the vandal, but we'll get up to that later. Please now read WP:NOTVAND. Thanks, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 18:23, 8 July 2012 (UTC).
I noticed the vandalism was done from an IP address in Saudi Arabia...is there any point in serving a warning to an IP address? On a related note, does one need to warn when vandalism has been done and removed by the same editor Eg. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pranab_Mukherjee&diff=500618843&oldid=500618766 where chutia means F**K*R

Yes, you warn no matter who does the vandalism, be it an IP or an account. If they re-do it, it's usually a test edit, and you can welcome them will a welcome-test, or a welcome-anon-test. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 10:40, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Finished with WP:NOTVAND Sesamevoila (talk) 04:50, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
Great! I'll come back later and post a quiz on it. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 19:26, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

CVUA Quiz 1

1. What is vandalism?

Vandalism is the deliberate dis-figuration of a page/enclyclopaedic article by adding, removing or changing content ultimately compromising the integrity of the encyclopedia. checkY

2. What is a personal attack?

A personal attack is an attack on a contributor. This includes attacks on vandals since this can result in a vicious cycle. The definition and full range of options in responding to a personal attack can be found at Wikipedia:No personal attacks checkY

3. What is a test edit?

A test edit is one in which the user experiments on a live article by editing it and then reverting his edit. Such users can be warned using user warning templates, or through talk page messages. Test page edits are different from deliberate vandalism. checkY

4. What is a disruptive edit?

A disruptive edit would refer to a series of edits on a page by a user resulting in a similar series of edits by other user(s) either reverting such edits or further inflaming passions on the topic resulting in Wikipedia:Edit_warring. There are mechanisms to deal with disruptive edits mainly to do with dispute resolution. checkY

5. Please give a link to a Wikipedia page where you can patrol for vandalism.

Special:RecentChanges checkY

6. What should be done after vandalism is reverted?

Check the user's history, and if the user is a serial vandaliser, report the user immediately at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. If the user has not a serial vandaliser, and may even have done in good faith(as I have) , one can leave an appropriate warning message on the user's talk page, and continue monitoring the user for continued similar behaviour following which the first action given above can be set in motion. checkY

7. What administrative action is done to repeat vandals?

Repeat vandals who continue to vandalise even after repeated warnings can be reported to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism who will take necessary action including blocking of User Ids. checkY

8. When are you allowed to break the 3RR?

In the context of vandalism, you are allowed to revert edits on a page more than 3 times in a 24 hour period if you are reverting obvious vandalism. checkY BLP's, too.

9. What is a troll? How does a troll differ from a vandal?

A troll is an editor who intentionally vandalises pages, with the specific intention of provoking a reaction from other editors. Unlike a troll, a vandal does not have any such specific agenda. So, while all trolls who vandalise pages are vandals, not all vandals are trolls. A detailed discussion on the differences can be found here: Wikipedia:Vandals versus Trolls However, irrespective of whether they are trolls or vandals, such users can only be accurately identified after a study of their prior edits since many cases of what appears to be vandalism is often done by inexperienced editors acting, often, in good faith . checkY

10. What is spamming? What happens to repeat spammers?

Spamming is the adding of external links, not to improve an article, but with other intentions such as publicity, or the promotion of a product or other interests. Repeat spammers are warned through a series of warning templates and can ultimately be reported to administrators and blocked. More info at Wikipedia:Spam 1/2 Credit Backlisted.

Please place a talkback template when you have completed this quiz. Good luck! Electriccatfish2 (talk) 21:10, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Your Score: 95% Excellent! Electriccatfish2 (talk) 11:05, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks very much:-) What next, if I may ask. Also, I didn't understand the significance of the tool template at No.9 as also the bit about 1/2 Credit Backlisted at No.10. Sesamevoila (talk) 12:25, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
First of all, it was supposed to be a checkY, not a tool. Also, spammers have their websites backlisted, which means that the website can't be added again to another page here. Also, Q8 is very important as my first student got it wrong and it ended up being a question at his RFA that he got wrong, which ultimately tanked it. Next, please read WP: Cleaning up Vandalism, WP: WARN, and WP: GAIV. Best, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 21:57, 16 July 2012 (UTC).

CVUA Quiz 2

Hi! Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you. I forgot to ask you to also read WP: BLOCK. After you are done, please complete this quiz. Good luck!

  • Scenario 1 An IP adds "Hahahahahahahaha" to Video game.

1. Which type of and level warning should be issued to this user?

If this is the first such instance of vandalism from this IP address, then a level 1 warning template should be put on the talk page of the IP address. Else a Level 2. Template:SharedIPAdvice should also be put on the talk page since it's from an IP address.
checkY

2. If you were reverting this edit manually, what should your edit summary be?

Reverted vandalism or 'rv/v'
checkY

3. If this user were to stop vandalizing, would it be appropriate to report them to AIV?

No. checkY

4. Can an IP be blocked indefinitely?

Can be, but should not be, except in the rarest of cases
checkY

5. Should "cool-down" blocks be issued?

Only if the user is both angry as well as disruptive. In normal cases, it's shown to have the opposite effect
☒N Cool-down blocks should never be issued.

1. Which type of and level warning should be issued to this user?

Level 2 Vandalism template
checkY

2. This user vandalizes again. You issue them a level 3 warning and than they vandalize your talk page. What should you do now?

Issue a level 4 warning and if the vandalism persists, then intitiate AIV.
checkY

3. Can this account be blocked indefinitely?

Accounts are indefinitely blocked only if there is extensive disruption. A block is not a punishment and is used to facilitate discussion and resolution of problems. In this particluar case, prima facie, there is no need for an indefinite block
☒N This account is evidently a vandalism-only account and can therefore be blocked indef.

4. This user adds in claims that Hunter Pence is gay. Are you allowed to break the 3RR rule by reverting the edits?

Yes, since this a Biography of a Living person
checkY

4. What is a BLP violation?

A violation of Wikipedia policies on Biography of Living persons which essentially say that "Material about living persons must be written with the greatest care and attention to the principles of verifiability, neutrality, and avoidance of original research".
checkY

Thanks for all the help, Electric Catfish, you make a great instructorcheckY. I would give you a lightning bolt barnstar, if only I knew how:-) I have reverted about 60 odd instances of vandalism using Stiki or Twinkle. One thing I've noticed is that Stiki does not add the pages I have reverted to my watchlist automatically...is there any way of enabling that? Sesamevoila (talk) 18:44, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes. There is a button that says "Never Watchlist" that is ticked by default when entering STiki. To add pages to your watchlist, simply untick it. Best, Electric Catfish 18:48, 1 August 2012 (UTC).

Hi, yes I do think you have made a mistake. I have put ref. There is missed a part that this scientist is a son of Serbian Nikola Boskovic and Italian Paola. Use google translate for this and a lot of other newspapers and world's encyclopedias http://www.pressonline.rs/sr/vesti/globus/story/236950/Dubrovnik+opet+republika.html "Jedan od najznačajnijih Srba rođenih u Dubrovniku jeste astronom i matematičar Ruđer Bošković. I thought I'd go the whole hog and test whatever tools are available since the developers have gone to quite a bit of trouble to create them. After trying out Huggle, Igloo and AWB, it looks to me like they involve quite a bit of having to stand on one's head to figure out not just the nuts and bolts, but also the bells and whistles:-(

Sesamevoila (talk) 19:44, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

I never use them. Most of them don't work on Mac anyway (like most 3rd party apps for Wikipedia). AWB (also not for Mac) however is great for doing routine repetitive tasks. These tools should be used with great care when doing counter-vandalism - man y of the complaints for wrong reverts are due to their use because many patrollers do not appear to check each revert manually or check the article history. None of these tools should really be used for new page patrolling which of course, if done properly, needs a 100% human touch and a lot of clue. The best tool for NPP is Special:NewPagesFeed. It's still very much under development but you may like to try it out if you haven't done so already and let us have your feedback. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:50, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: GD Goenka La' Petite, Gurgaon

Hello Sesamevoila, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of GD Goenka La' Petite, Gurgaon, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 doesn't apply to schools, and the article isn't unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 22:22, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Figured the best way to help was to show by example and clean the page off unsourced content and put up citation needed tags. Thought you could have a look at Sibichen K Mathew now. Am also not sure if the photo passes copyright but not too clear on how to go about checking that Sesamevoila (talk) 08:22, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
The photo is on Commons. It is clearly a copyvio because it was lifted from a FaceBook page. problem is, images, especially on Commons, is an area I don't specialise in, so I don't know how to tag it for deletion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:39, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

thank you for the work done on my page,it is such hard working ppl like you that Wikipedia needs.best of luck Harishrawat11 (talk) 11:31, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Please don't put unsourced content on the page. You are again starting to peacock the page..it is not a CV where every trivial piece of info needs to be put up. Also, the photo is copyrighted and will have to be removed/replaced. Sesamevoila (talk) 11:43, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Last month you tagged this article for close paraphrasing copyright concerns, but I didn't see that any particular source or section was indicated. Since it is a fairly large article with a large number of sources, could you be more particular about what you think was copied from where, or at least what made you suspicious about the article? Anything you can recall would be greatly appreciated. VernoWhitney (talk) 17:55, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

I had run bits of the page through this tool https://www.plagtracker.com/upload/ and it had thrown up some duplicates then which is why I tagged the article. I tried the same thing again today but it's only throwing up stray sentences. There seems to have been quite a bit of work done on the article since then. I will remove the tag since I am unable to come up with any particular sources now.
P.S. I have a close paraphrasing issue with another article where the article creator has responded to my tag on the talk page saying the content is not copyrighted. The article is at Wil schroter. I am not too clear about the various Creative Commons licenses so would you mind taking a look?

Sesamevoila (talk) 19:32, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for taking another look at that article for me. Sometimes it's pretty clear but other times it's really hard for us to figure out what might be copied from where without help (and paraphrasing is even worse, since it's not exact).
Anyways, I don't mind looking at Wil schroter at all--copyright situations are most of what I help with around here. I looked over the terms of service and licensing policy of CrunchBase, and it looks pretty clear that all of their user-submitted content is reusable under a CC-BY license. Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright has a little table which covers the basics of compatible CC licenses. In this case we can use it, we just needed to appropriately attribute the source (which I've now done).
On second look this text has been around for a while on various sites before CrunchBase, so we need to go through a more formal process of verifying authorship and release. I'll go and start work on explaining the process to them. VernoWhitney (talk) 21:14, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

I removed the BLPProd tag from Kanika Kapoor. There was a reference, albeit unreliable, present. Per WP:BLPPROD, "To place a BLPPROD tag, the process requires that the article contain no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc.), which support any statements made about the person in the biography." (emphasis not mine) Bgwhite (talk) 05:41, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for taking care of that. I was under the impression that it had to be a reliable source and my antenna went up when the "official website" turned out to be a facebook page. Sesamevoila (talk) 06:05, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
It is a common misconception as the page keeps talking about reliable sources. Keep tagging away... Bgwhite (talk) 06:10, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
I find myself doubtful of where the PROD tag can be correctly used after this episode. The PROD tag I added was removed by the page creator from this article at Bhaktha Anjaneyar. Since it has a reference, I was wondering whether to let it be. Could you take a look? Sesamevoila (talk) 08:09, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Normally, I'd say to find some references to back anything up. If you can't find any, then do a WP:AfD. Can't delete anything if it is badly written, but can if there are no refs out there. If you think it is notable, I'd say make a stub out of it. Delete what is there and do a few sentences about it in your own words. If the other editor protests, describe why you made it a stub. If they keep protesting, then ask for help from an admin or others. The photo is a clear copyright violation as the photo shows up on the Temple's website. I've reported the photo as a copyright violation. Bgwhite (talk) 08:32, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Georgraphy of Berlin

How do you propose to do the split-off of the Berlin article? Kingjeff (talk) 18:27, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Oops, didn't realise you were splitting the page since there was no mention of it in the edit summary. I'll remove the CSD tag. Sesamevoila (talk) 18:51, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
No problem. I probably should have mentioned it before. But if you want an article to work on, it probably needs some cleanup since I basically copied and pasted it into the new article from the Berlin article. Kingjeff (talk) 19:11, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

A question about the edit of Youssef Allam Group Article

What exactly do u consider a promotional material in the article, so that i can consider it the next time i edit? -- Nouny88 (talk) 13:39, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Please read What wikipedia is not to understand why much of the material you have put in the article is considered promotional. As an encyclopedia, anything you put in should be backed up by independent verifiable sources, meaning newspapers, journals etc. All this information is available in the links in the messages on your talk page such as How to write a great article. Even after the editing, there is still a lot of promotional material on the page while encyclopedic material like annual turnover etc. are missing. Please see pages on other companies on wikipedia to identify the kind of information required. I see that the page has already been tagged for deletion-if you can add facts along with sources, then you can contest the deletion. Sesamevoila (talk) 13:56, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Dear Sesamevoila,

Could you please check Youssef Allam Group Article and tell me if it is okay this way or not?
Please update me with your comments.

Thank you for your concern.

--Nouny88 (talk) 09:00, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

As I mentioned in the above comment, notability has to be established. If you can get details regarding annual turnover, links even to items in Arabic newspapers which can be cited, the article might be deemed suitable enough to stay on the encyclopedia. I have removed irrelevant and empty sections Sesamevoila (talk) 09:16, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

We noticed though that when you edited M.R.Srinivasan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Planning Commission (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

P._Narahari article for deletion

What's wrong with that article? This personality is very well-known in Gwalior city. And people are writing about him all over the internet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shobhit Gosain (talkcontribs) 16:53, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

P._Narahari article for deletion

Ofcourse his work is notable. He is District Magistrate of Gwalior city, and for other cities in past. People wants to know about him a lot more. Many other news websites have written about him. I don't think this article should be considered for deletion. Shobhit Gosain —Preceding undated comment added 17:28, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

The points you mention are generally insufficient to merit a a person an entry in Wikipedia. Please read WP:BIO along with WP:ISNOT to get a better feel of possible subjects for inclusion in the Encyclopedia. Cheers Sesamevoila (talk) 06:43, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
But the article clearly statisfy these points WP:ANYBIO. You also search about this personality over the internet and help me clarify those insufficient points which you found? Shobhit Gosain (talk) 16:43, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
That point is debatable which is why I have only nominated the page for deletion so that the wider community may debate on whether this profile should be retained in its present form. Ideally, this profile should be a subsection in the Gwalior page rather than a page by itself . Sesamevoila (talk) 04:42, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
I also thought the same that it should be a subsection in the Gwalior page, but then this personality has served not just for Gwalior, but many other cities too. Please remove it from deletion, rather you can put its nomination for improvement with more references. Even I will update more about this personality. Shobhit Gosain (talk) 07:14, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
Please have a look at the article. I have added more references and notable categories. Shobhit Gosain (talk) 15:51, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

P._Narahari article for deletion

Deleting his article will be really unhelpful for the people of city for whom he serve. Please remove that "considered for deletion" tag, users can edit that article. This personality is a very useful for the people. Shobhit Gosain (talk) 17:39, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Di you accidentally post the wrong CSD template here? The pig exists, and the article cannot be seen as a test page. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 10:48, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

When I accessed the page, this is all there was in it [[2]]. Hence, the test page template, which i have now removed since it's considerably changed in the meantime. Thanks for the headsup Sesamevoila (talk) 10:57, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Fair comment; so it's the author's fault for not removing the speedy template when he improved the article. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 14:11, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing to my attention what my brothers and I where doing we had no idea that it was affecting wikipedia and brought up a sock puppet investigation. We didn't know that having an account on the same computer would effect things like this. We wish you good health and a good day.

P. Narahari for deletion

When will you reply? Shobhit Gosain (talk) 14:56, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Reply to what? You seem to have some misconceptions of wikipedia which will only be cleared if you read the links I provided earlier. In the first instance, you have taken liberties with the subject's bio eg. writing that he won an award for Jan Mitra when it is evident that it is the program and not the individual that has been awarded. As I understand from http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/Digital+discipline/1/93210.html and http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-01-23/india/36504913_1_biometric-attendance-system-e-governance-babus, this program is the brainchild of another individual who was the earlier collector. Unless these biases are removed this bio will only remain a hagiography without any credibility.
There has been very little response to the AfD and there is very little traffic to the page, both of which, to my mind, are indicators to a lack of notability.Sesamevoila (talk) 18:10, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes that program was the brainchild of the former collector, but P. Narahari also made many contributions and more strict rules so that Jan Mitra program can be more helpful for the public, therefore the award was jointly given to both the collectors. Apart from that award P. Narahari also received many awards and appreciation for the betterment of the society, http://hamariladli.in/profiledm.aspx and http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/MadhyaPradesh/Got-a-complaint-Poke-Gwalior-collector-on-Facebook/Article1-945195.aspx.
Article was just 1 week old, I think it will take at least a month to get traffic. His bio is very helpful for the people he served and for the people he will serve in the future. Shobhit Gosain (talk) 06:26, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello Sesamevoila. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:33, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Sesamevoila,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
