Dragon Ball

You can talk to admin User:Deskana, he is part of the project but be warned he isn't exactly reliable. - 16:16, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your post on User talk:Deskana

Hello. I have a few things to say to you:

  1. Administrators have no special authority on this website. This is somewhat out of step with other websites, but that's the way it is here. I'm a member of WP:WPDB just like everyone else. I'm with the project to help advise people on matters of policy and help with administrator related tasks.
  2. When Dark Dragon Flame said I'm not "reliable", I think he meant that I don't really know too much about Dragon Ball. As I said above, I'm with the project to help out with admin matters.
  3. The consensus seems to currently be to keep things the way they are, rather than to change them like you want. If you would like a more outside view, you could try a request for comment, which are quite good at getting outside views.

I hope this clears a few things up for you :-) --Deskana (fry that thing!) 10:45, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the name thing

Ok let me get this out of the way this is not the Dragon Ball wiki site. This means that its Dragon Ball pages may be a little different. That is no reason to change the names. The dragon Ball Wiki is supposed to be very in depth and have lots of stuff that would normally be deleted here. Not many people coming to the regular wikipedia are going to know the romanizations like Pu-erh or Yamucha. All of the romanizations redirect to the charecter's respective page. The romanizations are not very common and are not used much (only in Steve Diamao mostly). I am just saying that this is the first time in along time anyone has really complained about the names. Sometimes new users may call Shenlong Shenron but thats about it. DBZROCKS 12:10, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Majinvegeta - Re:Have we met?

Yes we have met, I'm MajinSuperVegeta on the Dragon Ball Wiki. Nice to see you again "I'm anonymus" (Burdock). --Majinvegeta 18:38, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neko Majin

Well the thing is do to it not having an official USA english version like Dragon Ball does then it would have to go under the official japanese title. And Toriyama has the english version of the japanese name already printed on the mangas just go by that. So for the title go by Neko Majin. Now as for the character names. You can use what it is translated to. Which I believe is Cat Genie, which is the race that the main characters are. So for the title use Neko Majin but for the characters use translations but remember to put the japanese romaji. Heat P 19:21, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well I think it should be the official title for the article becasue it is the official title for the manga and believe me if and/or when it is brought to the states officially it will keep it's title name so yes keep Neko Majin as the title. Only use Cat people or Cat Djinn as the translation for it in the article's description. A lot of manga and anime that have not been officially brought to the states uses the japanese name and ususally when brought to the states it keeps it. Heat P 07:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey bring it up on WP:DBZ first. Don't want to cause an uproar creating a new article about that issue. Heat P 03:35, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well since Neko Majin is part of the Dragon Ball universe in a strange way lol... WP:DBZ will probably look at it and well we got some people like Nemu that loves to rip articles away and merge them or delete them. Sandland and others have their own universes so it is not a WP:DBZ issue but Neko Majin is. Heat P 03:43, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ya Nemu is really like that. just look over some of the discussion he is in. But ya hold off on it and bring up it later. I myself got a couple of other projects I'm working on too. Vegeta and now Future Trunks's articles. Heat P 03:58, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes I have a feeling he just wants to shorten to many articles and I mean a lot. But ya i wont deny that he many want whats good for the encyclopedia but sometimes what someone wants is not always the best thing. And I can tell you he would likely merge Neko Majin list to the main article or suggest deletion. Heat P 04:04, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome. Do what you need to do. Holla back. Later Heat P 04:11, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Its okay about before you had wikipedia's best interest at heart, no need to apologize. DBZROCKS 21:39, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image revert

Someone reverted the image on the Goku article to the crappy one that you and I don't like. Then I reverted it back to the image that I uploaded. And I looked at the crappy image, and the thing doesn't even have a fair use policy, and is tagged for it. --Majinvegeta 14:28, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anime and manga characters with superhuman physical abilities

After looking at your topic on the Talk:Naruto page and your recent edits to the Bleach character pages, I think we have a problematic decision that needs to be made. Namely, whether the superhuman speed and strength cats should go on individual shinigami character pages or if we should slap them onto Category:Shinigami in Bleach instead.

See, unlike the Naruto ninja where for non-taijutsu specialists the physical abilities are arguable, ALL shinigami possess significantly boosted physical abilities to start out with simply by their ghostly nature. Additionally, any shinigami worth mentioning, and probably most of the random background characters as well, can use shunpo to one extent or another, which lets them move at mach speeds for a short (or for some people not-so-short) distance. Even Zaraki Kenpachi, who can't use shunpo, is able to outpace a bullet train simply by running. Superhuman strength is similarly widespread. Because of this, it starts becoming insignificant unless the given character's specialty is that trait.

So then, should we put the categories onto Category:Shinigami in Bleach and not the character pages? Just onto the character pages of those characters who have the named trait to a larger extent then normal? Both?

I don't know personally, although when I tagged them all by ability a month or two ago I just put each character's signature abilities. --tjstrf talk 00:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that's a good idea either though, which is why I mentioned the alternative ideas above in my post.
Oh, and to answer your question earlier about the manipulates X type categories, they all got turned into lists like List of fictional characters who can manipulate time. --tjstrf talk 00:07, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's nearly right, but the proper location would actually be Category:Shinigami in Bleach since there are a couple guys in the larger category (Keigo Asano, for instance) that don't have any powers. I would say not to remove the individual character pages from the categories either though, since right now they are only tagging the ones who specialize in that. For instance, Yoruichi Shihouin is the best shunpo user in the series and Ichigo Kurosaki's personal ability is super-speed, so I think they should stay. --tjstrf talk 00:15, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. ~I'm anonymous
Yoruichi might be faster, it's not like they have footraces or anything. But he's the only one whose ability is super-human speed, rather than just being really fast by use of a generic skill that everyone has. --tjstrf talk 01:05, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kind of, sort of, but not really. All spirits can walk on air, and various people have had temporary flight granted by magic artifacts, but the only guy with anything like proper flight is Tōshirō Hitsugaya, and his is a really minor ability compared to his ice and water control. --tjstrf talk 17:16, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He has it as his specific, unique, personal zanpakutō ability. Everyone else just has super speed as a side-note due to enhanced physical abilities and flash steps, Ichigo has it due to enhanced physical abilities, flash steps, and the specific trait of super speed. --tjstrf talk 17:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you're mostly right about that, but I don't see what you're getting at. The point is that he has super speed as a separate ability than most shinigami do, and that even by shinigami standards his speed is super. --tjstrf talk 17:53, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, actually you're incorrect on a minor but significant point. He attained it not from his normal zanpakuto but rather from his bankai. So if you've been following the dubbed version, it's a trait introduced at a future point in the series. --tjstrf talk 17:55, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually he would have, after he died. And in fact that's how it happens, since he loses his borrowed powers (under which he did not have the unique trait of superhuman speed), dies, becomes a true shinigami, and then, quite a bit later, gains his superhuman speed unique trait. (Before that he was just really tough and had energy blasts.)

Basically it comes down to this: Goku (DBZ) has superhuman speed because he has superhuman everything. Ichigo Kurosaki is his universe's version of The Flash. --tjstrf talk 18:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bankai is a state that most characters worth mentioning can use, yes, but its actual effects are unique by person. Only Ichigo's gives a speed boost. Toshiro Hitsugaya's is ice manipulation and wings. Renji Abarai's is... a giant bone dinosaur snake thing. etc. etc. etc. for each guy.
If you want to bring it up for wider input on Talk:Ichigo Kurosaki or Talk:Bleach (manga) (or WT:BLEACH) you can. I'm just giving my opinion. --tjstrf talk 18:33, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with tjstrf on this. His speed is beyond that of the standard, and this fact is made a point of on several occasions. His inclusion in the parent cat would be appropriate. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 19:38, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The speed category would be the parent. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 19:56, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that's bascially the gist of it. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 20:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GetBackers Character Articles

I rather perplexed that you have added the template which, to put it rather melodramatically, denouces the evils of trivia sections in many of the articles on various characters in the GetBackers manga/anime. Why this group of articles in particular? Curiously it wasn't added to other character articles with longer trivia sections. It doesn't seem very helpful.

Hannibal Lecter Article

I didn't realize that you worked on the Hannibal Lecter article as well. I'm the primary editor of it right now, I've done some serious edits to it the past few days. Thanks for helping out. And to answer your question about "Coola, Kooler, or Cooler": I must say that I have no idea. But I think it is Cooler, even though I, myself, have always called him Coola. --Majinvegeta 22:56, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I edited the Hannibal Lecter article because, whilst I was looking through your contributions, I came across it; figured it should be specified that he is a fictional character. That all. Ah, I was planning on moving Cooler (Dragon Ball) to Coola but I thought that I should confirm what name Daimao used. I guess I have to keep asking around. Thanks anyway Kayla. ~I'm anonymous
Your welcome. Tell me if you need help with anything. You know where to find me. ;) --Majinvegeta 23:54, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please Explain

Can you please explain your recent edit to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raditz? As you appear to be an editor in good standing I will WP:AGF, but it seems mightly suspicious to me. -- LukeSurl t c 23:59, 2 May 2007 (UTC) (Deleted by author)[reply]

I explained on your talk page. ~I'm anonymous

Thanks for providing the explaination, I just wanted to check that someone hadn't hacked your account and was trying to be subversive. LukeSurl t c 00:03, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As regards Word Up Magazine I would suggest adding the appropriate tag from this list to the top of the article, the simplist being ((db|This is the reason why I think this page should be speedily deleted}}.

I don't really know much about popups, I'm not really skilled in these matters I'm afraid

LukeSurl t c 00:15, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. I just fixed your attempt at nominating this for deletion again; you had created the AFD page directly onto today's log page, so I created a new page and got it listed so it transcludes properly. Just so you know! Cheers. Tony Fox (arf!) 19:08, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you go to the WP:AFD page, there's a list of steps to follow there; after you've placed the AFD template on the page in question, click on the red link and you can create the discussion page there. (There's a template for that, too, under step 2, I think, of the list on the main page.) Then you go to the day's log page (there's a link you can click), and add the third template at the bottom of the list. It's a bit more complicated for articles that have already been AFDd in the past; I think I did it a bit wrong, but hey, if it works, right? Cheers! Tony Fox (arf!) 22:12, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User Page User:SqlPac

Actually I just copied over a previous version of the Tupac article to my personal page that contained the dozens of hours worth of edits I've performed on it in the past couple of months. I don't need the pictures, etc., and in fact thank you for removing them. All I need is the text so I can continue to improve the article for my own pleasure, since the hours and hours worth of work I keep putting into the article keeps getting reverted without so much as an explanation. I also eliminated some other items that aren't necessary for my purposes, like the sound sample box, etc. Feel free to add my user page to any watchlist you like. How do I get an admin to lock it so that only I can edit it in the future? I've no interest in anyone else's edits on my user page. Thanks. SqlPac 00:09, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • In fact, since I really don't want anyone screwing up my work, I've moved my edited version of the article and will continue to work on it elsewhere. No pictures, infoboxes, or any of that other stuff necessary - just the text of the article with my copyedits, additions, and verifications of existing and new info. Thanks a million for the heads up. SqlPac 22:29, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yamcha-> Yamucha

About that requested change um well remember that thing I said about the romanizations being a little hardcore Dragon Ball Z? Its that and the fact that Yamucha is almost never used. Its Yamcha in the english anime manga and video games. (hope I didn't offend you with this) DBZROCKS 21:13, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As to why it is used differently between the two official versions I have no idea, but I do think Yamcha might make it easier for the casual user to understand. Since there is little difference between the two when pronounced we should go with the version that is more used and clearer, in this case Yamcha. While I do see you point about the pun I don't this as urgent as some of the other pages that need renaming. - 23:20, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes, I did create a account back a few months but I usually edit with my IP, I haven't been there in the last month since I have been working with a lot of pages to raise them to GA and FA in here, but I can be of service if needed. - 23:30, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's Dark Dragon Flame, but I believe the only contributions the account has are it's creation, I created it on February when a user there contacted me however it conflicted with the creation of the DMC task force and I didn't use it, I went back in March and edited there with my IP in between GACs and FACs and I continue to work there from time to time but nothing big yet. -- 00:01, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Archive

No the talk page was saying that archiving a page when its at or near 32 is to small of an archive and that around 96 is better. I personally archive at the end of a month or when my page gets really huge. DBZROCKS 12:21, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There really is no rule about when it can be archived, its up to the individual user. All being said it is good to have medium sized archives. DBZROCKS 22:32, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Goku with wings image

The image was reverted because the upload you did was over an existing image. Wikipedia prefers that new images be uploaded under a different name than existing images. -- bulletproof 3:16 02:49, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No but others might. I suggest discussing the image change in the article's talk page to avoid any discontent with a new image. -- bulletproof 3:16 02:54, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflicted)-I'll take my chances. I just thought that the image of Goku and King Kai with wings was hilarious so I uploaded it. It does give a very good depiction of Goku in Heaven, does it not? ~I'm anonymous
I don't understand. Hold on for what exactly? ~I'm anonymous
Oh nothing. I’m just in the middle of cleaning up an article right now and every time I check the preview page the bright orange message sign appears. It's kind of hard cleaning up an article and replying at the same time. Hehe. -- bulletproof 3:16 03:04, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see. But are you 100% sure there's a policy/guideline regarding what you said: "Wikipedia prefers that new images be uploaded under a different name than existing images". I couldn't find anything regarding this statement, at all. ~I'm anonymous
If the image depicts something different than the original image then the name of the new image should be consistent with what it depicts. ("Goku and King Kai" dead instead of just "Goku")-- bulletproof 3:16 03:21, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
...Sigh... Thank you. Hehe. Sure no problem here.-- bulletproof 3:16 03:23, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:

Oh, that is nothing just a blocked user User:Zarbon, he was also the same guy that had a war with User:Power level (Dragon Ball), under the name User:Recoome. He is just clearly attacking the members of the project as you can see he also vandalized SUIT's and MajinSuperVegeta's (AKA Majinvegeta) pages; I am used to seeing him create sockpuppets, he will be bloked soon. - 00:11, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He already had one (Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Zarbon) wich was left as unlikely because of IPs not matching (please note that Zarbon has presented multiple IPs before), however the subsecuent edit pattern made it clear that there was a connection between the two, but since Power level who was the one with real interest about the case left, we all kind of decided just to ignore it and continue with our lives.- 02:20, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BTW you may also be interested in seeing Zarbon's edit on Recoome's page on the Dragon Ball Wikia here mighty suspicious if you ask me.- 02:27, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they seem to have something going outside of Wikipedia see this edit [2] where PL let's Recoome know where to find him, now if the question is if PL is Zarbon that is really unlikely even though both of them have sockpuppetry pattens their editing behavior is too different. - 02:44, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know but he was persistent. I'm sorry I gave you the wrong link on that last edit this is what I wanted to let you know [3] this edit was made by PLs admited sockpuppet the day he came back. - 02:52, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Suggesting they are not the same person, I would lean towards Zarbon for the incivility of the edit. Are you suggesting some one hacked PLs account? Pl did act somewhat rebelious before retiring after being blocked following confrontations with other users. It would not surprise me if he still holds a grudge. - 03:05, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Believe me the admins knew it, Deskana gave him the chance to created an account as PL after this was discovered, his original username was User:Dragonball1986 he was dicovered using Someguy0380 as a sockpuppet and he got a second chance see the discuusions at the bottom of the page [4].- 03:14, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The bureocratic process would include filing a request here where it would be evaluated, but this being such a complicated case and since Deskana is well informed about the situation he is probably the best choice here.- 03:24, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's good being of service, cheers. - 03:37, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I kind of gave you a wrong piece of info it was User:Kabuto Yakushi not User:Someguy0380 the account indef blocked for being a sockpuppet of Dragonball1986, he later admited the use of Someguy0380 as a sockpuppet by himself. - 03:51, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
