To develop your article for this assignment, please set up a dedicated user subpage for it and save the link on your main userpage. You would do this by creating a name consisting of a backslash followed by the proposed article title (or "Draft" or any text). It should be coded like this: [[/Article title]]. Click on that link to create the new subpage, which will be created at User:Student username/Article title. You can then add some text, save it, and then continue.

Michael Tsarion

[edit]

Nice choice! Since it's a new entry, I think it should provide biographical data as well as discussing his specific theories. A section on Atlantis would be nice, but there are many other things he has addressed, among them the occult, extraterrestrial life, British Israelism, and even the 2012 phenomenon. All of these have tie-ins to interpretations of archaeological evidence and narratives about the past. Be sure to review the information in Wikipedia regarding writing about specific individuals. Tsarion has a big web presence that includes a large number of videos on http://youtube.com. It's critical to provide a balanced perspective based on factual information. You may be challenged on his significance, so provide information that would support his inclusion in Wikipedia. Models would include entries on other authors in the New Age genre. Be sure to provide sources for the information you include. Hoopes (talk) 17:50, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have noted the he has been challenged on his significance (which is probably true) on two different occasions, both leading to deletion. Although I don't expect (as historically indicated) to create a page with lasting implications, I would sure like to try. I guess the logical question would be to ask; How do I do that? From my viewing of other fringe figures, it hinges on how the information is presented and not necessarily to the information presented. Additionally, the majority of the sources will inevitably be collected from the web. How would I present these as credible? I will need assistance in that department. If you can find comments in Wikipedia about why there have been previous challenges to his significance, you can query the individual administrators on their reasons for deletion. I had the same experience with Blossom Goodchild (see my talk page), an Australia psychic who I thought merited an entry. I wrote what I thought was a good one but it was challenged once and then subsequently deleted. You can read some about that incident here http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message630877/pg1 It was kind of funny, since I think there are still people out there who think the deletion was evidence of a coverup conspiracy (!). I recommend that your read what Wikipedia has to say about signficance of people. If you want to write an entry and just leave it on your user page for grading, that would be okay. Afterwards, you can try to put it in the main Wikipedia and see what happens. Hoopes (talk) 01:34, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Be sure to read the Wikpedia guidelines on notability. Try to construct your entry in such a way that Tsarion's notability would be evident. Hoopes (talk) 02:07, 29 October 2010 (UTC) You can find the Wikipedia discussion about the notability of my Blossom Goodchild entry here: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Blossom_Goodchild. I gave up fighting after the second deletion. It's too bad, since I think people will want to remember her prediction for October 14, 2008 when October 14, 2012 rolls around. I was annoyed to see that the entry for the Balloon boy hoax of October 15, 2009 stuck, since I thought the Blossom Goodchild incident was even more significant. (Basically, mid-October is a time that's especially ripe for UFO sightings and related incidents. It happened again this year in New York City on October 13. Turns out they were balloons.) I've posted this to John's talk page also. You can't create the article as it has been protected against creation. If you think you can show notability so that the reasons given for deletion are no longer valid, you may be able to recreate it. Dougweller (talk) 09:36, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
