Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Sgonz163, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Hi! Your question wasn't a dumb question at all! Can you email me at shalor@wikiedu.org with a screenshot or description of what you are seeing? I have a good idea of what you're experiencing and have a PDF for you if so. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 00:55, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

[edit]

Hi! I'm going to do some editing for tone and flow, primarily as sort of an example of Wikipedia's writing style. Here are some notes I have:

  • Some of the content takes a conversational, casual tone. The writing isn't bad and wouldn't be out of place elsewhere, but on Wikipedia it's not formal enough. I've done some editing to the education and lead (some of which I moved into a section about her personal life) to show an example of tone.
  • The artworks section comes across as more of a personal interpretation than a neutral summary. We can only summarize what has been explicitly stated in the source material and anything that could be seen as subjective needs to be attributed in a way that makes it clear that it's not Wikipedia making the interpretation.
  • This needs in-line citations to back up the claims.
  • The publications section is confusing. Are these books that she wrote? Contributed to? Or was she mentioned in them? Looking at the NAAR page on Agard, it looks like she contributed to some, but was featured in others. I would only include the ones where she specifically wrote something or contributed somehow. For the ones where she was written about, I would use those as sources.

I hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:19, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
