Welcome

[edit]

Thanks for trying to keep that species list on Serviceberry in line with current research. We should add Flora of North America as a reference, with a link to the relevant page at efloras.org (pages like Wikipedia:Citing Sources or Wikipedia:Footnotes discuss how, or you can emulate the existing use of <ref> on the page). Also, there are some formatting issues with your changes (for example, "north temperate zoneNorthern Hemisphere" needs a space - and some other punctuation - between "zone" and "Northern"). I see that you are actively editing, so it might be easier if I let you finish before trying to copy-edit.

Here's the generic welcome message: Welcome!

Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Amelanchier laevis.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Amelanchier laevis.JPG. The copy called Image:Amelanchier laevis.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Amelanchier laevis.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Shell babelfish 20:02, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Amelanchier

[edit]

Hi Shadbush - nice work on the Amelanchier page; I am concerned however that the text you added bears a very close resemblance to the text at the University of Maine page on the genus, and may be in breach of their copyright. Can you confirm that you have permission to use this text (i.e., if you are the copyright holder), please? - Thanks, MPF 10:40, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If some Amelanchier species are really not recognized, then you need to do something about the articles that have been written about them, not simply remove the links from the genus article. I note that the articles you orphaned have references themselves, so the expectation is going to be that you have an explanation for why those references are wrong, perhaps a publication demonstrating synonymy or some such. If they are synonyms of something else for instance, make a redirect to the correct species, and only then may you remove from the genus article. Stan (talk) 19:32, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
