Talk pages

[edit]

Just a couple of things to make using them go smoother for you.

First, if you are going to start a discussion, please use the "new section" tag and provide a section title. It helps others know what the topic is at a glance.

Second, sign you posts. It's very easy, all you have to do is add 4 tildes - ~~~~ - at the end of your post.

Fair use images

[edit]

Thanks for the nice image uploads, esp. mr monster and ditko. however, the sizes and resolutions were a little on the high side. i reduced the images to make sure they didnt go astray of fair use guidelines. Its a gray area exactly where the line is drawn, so if you think the images could be somewhere between yours and mine, i wont alter them again, but as i havent actually tested the limits, you might want to ask formally somewhere what the limits are. again, thanks for the nice work.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 08:44, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Fantasy film, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Krull, Fire and Ice and Tarzan the Ape Man (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Template:Black Canary

[edit]

Blunt warning: Stop trying to get your way before you have consensus. The template was move in 2011 and your duplication did not get traction. Comic back now and indulging in WP:IDHT with regards to WP:BRD is beyond disruptive.

Work through the discussion to show consensus first, don't just try to re0instate your fan service template.

ANEW

[edit]

I've reviewed the report filed against you at WP:ANEW. At this point you've breached WP:3RR over what appears to be a long-running dispute (resurrected by you recently) over Template:Black Canary. If you self-revert your last change to the template and promise to leave it alone, you may avoid a block. After you self-revert, you can continue to discuss the issue of whether it should or shouldn't be redirected on the talk page or use other dispute resolution mechanisms to resolve the issue.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:33, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I understand but feel as though this will only end the same way it ended the last time with J Greb merely dominating by continually bullying his own opinion on other and listening to no reason. I have kept a long running dialogue in the talk page which has led to nothing but squabbling and rudeness. My first revision was not an undo as stated in the WP:3RR but an answer to the talk pages list of changes that could be made to the Black Canary template. Yet no matter what I try in this or the Catwoman or Birds of Prey templates J Greb only bickers or accuses me of fan service an action they are very much using themselves. I will gladly concede but it doesn't seem like it will help, all I can get from J Greb is THEIR way or no ones. I'm not sure what the next step should be but help would be appreciated. : -Shallowgravy (talk) 19:24, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The first step is for you to self-revert, as I stated above. After you've done that we can explore your options. Your first edit was a revert as it is defined at WP:3RR (you undid another editor's action from 2011 - essentially, you resumed the edit-war).--Bbb23 (talk) 19:42, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, I have undid my previous revision, now what steps are there to take to move this forward if I can't revert back. It seems at a bit of a block with no more actions on my part as J Greb won't make any concession on their side and it merely eliminates the Black Canary template altogether. I have made countless edits and changes to try and make it as different and relevant on its own right from the Birds of Prey template that was made to replace it, they are by no means the same, yet I'm running out of options on how to deal with this person rationally. -- Shallowgravy (talk) 19:50, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for self-reverting. It looks to me like the discussions about the template have only been between you and J Greb. If that's accurate, then you have a couple of choices. You can continue the discussion on the template talk page. If you and J Greb can't agree (likely), then you can try WP:RFC, WP:DRN, or WP:3O. An alternative route is to go to WP:RFD. I've never used that noticeboard, so I'm not sure if it addresses this kind of situation or whether the first route is the better way to go. You can take a look at the noticeboard instructions and see if you can make sense out of them. :-) The one thing you can't do is resume the battle in the article.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:09, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since I noted this general topic with {{Catwoman}} can you please show a consensus on the template talk page before ramming to changes through?

Hello, I have no skills with templates and I'm wondering if you could check this edit. The versions of the template since that one have the "How to manage this template's visibility ..." instructions visible in the articles that include the template. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Missingman.gif

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Missingman.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:04, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Notice

The article Kanga (comics) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Notice

The article Alternative versions of Black Canary has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Black Canary the brave and the bold.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Black Canary the brave and the bold.png.

Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
