Shauntcsong1 (talk) 14:49, 23 December 2020 (UTC)== Welcome! == Hello, Shauntcsong1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.[reply]

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Shaun Taylor-Corbett, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hi! This is the actual person Shaun Taylor-Corbett and I'm trying to update my page in a way that represents me well. I'm not sure how to correspond with you in this format. Can you tell me how to best send you the content and picture that I want on the page? Thanks! Shauntcsong1 (talk) 14:49, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

December 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Ainlina. I noticed that you recently removed content from Shaun Taylor-Corbett without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Although you have added content, you have also removed quite a lot without explanation - it should be possible to keep the existing information while adding new information. Thanks, Ainlina(box)? 14:45, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hi Shaun,

I'm afraid that article subjects are strongly discouraged from editing articles about themselves; the conflict of interest guideline states that "If you have a personal connection to a topic or person, you are advised to refrain from editing those articles directly and to provide full disclosure of the connection if you comment about the article on talk pages or in other discussions. Requests for updates to an article about yourself or someone with whom you have a personal connection can be made on the article's talk page by following the instructions at WP:COIREQ." Editing an article in order to reflect how you wish to be perceived is seriously in conflict with the responsibility of Wikipedia editors to improve the encyclopedic quality of the content. For guidance on how to go about changing the article if you still wish to, please see WP:COIEDIT; basically, you should propose edits on the talk page or the conflict of interest noticeboard (probably the latter since the talk page doesn't look like it gets much traffic). I'm not very experienced in writing new content, so unfortunately don't feel confident to do this reviewing myself.

I would especially discourage removing true facts about yourself from the article, even if they don't reflect how you wish to be seen publicly.

You should only edit articles about yourself to remove defamation or serious errors, and should post on the biographies of living persons noticeboard to state that you have done so, however that doesn't seem to be the case here as far as I can tell (although I may be wrong).

Feel free to post on my talk page if you want any further advice - although I would advise you that messages on talk pages should be added to the bottom as a new section, rather than to the top, I have moved your first post to the bottom and you can add to that if you want. Thanks, Ainlina(box)? 15:10, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

PS, I just saw your message that your place of birth is wrong, it should be okay to change that, I think WP:SELFSOURCE and the uncontroversial nature of such basic facts makes it okay.
