Note at the bottom[edit]

Question: Shouldn't the 'note' at the bottom:

* To use this message, place {{subst:User:Shearonink/ref}} on User:talk pages when needed.

also be left out of the transcluded message using <noinclude>...</noinclude> tags? Just wondering... --IJBall (contribstalk) 02:06, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for mentioning that. You might be right, I wanted you to know the reason I put a note at the bottom is that I thought it would be nice for people who received this notice to be able to share it forward, so many of them are new editors and I thought they'd like to be able to just lift the code without having to know exactly what to do. Thanks for responding Shearonink! As to your concern, I think there may be a better way to do the same: include a 'comment code' note in the code as to how to use this template (e.g. "<!-- To use this message, place {{subst:User:Shearonink/ref}} on User:talk pages when needed. -->"), in the same way that, say, {{uw-vandalism1}} includes a 'comment code' note (e.g. "<!-- Template:uw-vandalism1 -->") in the final posted version. Anyway, just an idea... --IJBall (contribstalk) 06:05, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I know about the hidden comment code but my intent is to enable inexperienced user/editors to be able to pass the info along if they wished. But I will think about maybe altering that bit at the bottom. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 06:30, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
