Hello/Page moves

[edit]

Please note that there are several conventions regarding the naming of Wikipedia articles. The general principle regarding the names of Wikipedia pages is expressed thus:

Generally, article naming should give priority to what the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize, with a reasonable minimum of ambiguity, while at the same time making linking to those articles easy and second nature.

or, alternatively:

Names of Wikipedia articles should be optimized for readers over editors; and for a general audience over specialists.

Several specific guidelines regarding naming of pages (by topic, by title characteristic,...) are listed on this page: Wikipedia:Naming conventions, and in this category: Category:Wikipedia naming conventions.

Additionally, technical guidance regarding Wikipedia page names can be found in: Help:Page name. Related guidance, regarding what happens when two different names should refer to the same article, or when a single name refers to several meanings that each deserve their own article can be found in Wikipedia:Redirect and Wikipedia:Disambiguation. How and when to include a namespace qualifier in a page name is explained in Wikipedia:Namespace.

Guidance on changing page names can be found in: Help:Moving a page. When you're not sure whether renaming a page is appropriate or desirable, please consult Wikipedia:Requested moves. Thanks for collaborating! -- SzvestWiki Me Up ® 14:05, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirection of IEEE 802.11 to Wi-Fi Router?

[edit]

I think Wi-Fi is a brand name, and even though brands sometimes develops into words I can't see the reason to redirect IEEE 802.11 to Wi-Fi Router? It's not just a router, is it?. (Sorry if my english is incorrect. English isn't my mothertongue.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.114.65.81 (talkcontribs)

I've undone the page move - it was not an appropriate move, since the article quite clearly deals with the IEEE 802.11 family of specifications, and not just WiFI routers. Mindmatrix 18:01, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I guess I agree with that... By the way, the unsigned comment up there has decent English. --Shoveldude 02:40, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Shoveldude[reply]
