FAC

  • Hey I can't do any real editing for a few days but I will take a look later. • Lingzhi(talk) 13:33, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
    • @Lingzhi: Do you still have time to do this? Any comments would be appreciated. -- Shudde talk 07:04, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Likewise. I will try to review the article in a day or two. Resolute 00:33, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
    • Eeep! Totally forgot which one it was... • Lingzhi(talk) 07:17, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
      • @Lingzhi: Not a problem, the article is on the Irish-born New Zealand rugby player Dave Gallaher. The FAC can be found here. -- Shudde talk 07:23, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
        • It's been years since I've edited templates, but do you want to display "Rugby Union Career" more than once for player/coaches? Why do conditionals lower in the code include variables that may satisfy earlier conditionals? I mean:
        • {{#if:{{{ru_currentposition |}}}| {{#if:{{{ru_position|}}}
        • {{#if:{{{ru_position|}}}| | {{#if:{{{ru_currentposition|}}}| | {{#if:{{{ru_coachclubs |}}}|
        • End of story, somewhere or other your conditionals or nesting isn't what you think it is... I think. • Lingzhi(talk) 08:13, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Check your email. • Lingzhi(talk) 08:22, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
    • Check email (if you haven't already), and PS I played with the template in my two sandboxes and it's definitely, definitely a problem with those conditionals. It would take me a long time to fix it properly (been years, as i said), but that is very definitely the problem. • Lingzhi(talk) 08:43, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
      • Thanks for all that. I'll look at the info in the email and see what I can find. -- Shudde talk 09:26, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Billy Geen

Hi Shudde, thank you very much for taking the trouble to review Billy Geen. Hopefully we can collaborate on other articles in the future. Cheers, FunkyCanute (talk) 08:27, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

@FunkyCanute: No trouble at all. Sometimes my reviews can come across a bit pedantic, but reviews always take so long I figure why not just give all the advice I can? I'm a real fan of your mission to get those biographies up to a high standard, and would definitely be keen to help out if you'd like. My offline sources are limited to mainly New Zealand-focused books (with a couple of exceptions) so that does limit what I can do. -- Shudde talk 08:32, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

comments aging

My comments on Gallaher FAC are going through puberty. • Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 03:16, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

@Lingzhi: Hey. Yeah sorry. I've been busy the last couple of days and only had time to address either Cliftonian's or yours the other day. I started addressing your comments an hour or so ago. But I want to have them all addressed in the next few hours. -- Shudde talk 03:32, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
  • I may be off-wiki for a couple days. I'll try to respond when I can. Did you trim the lead? It went into excessive detail. The earlier parts of the article didn't explain why the All Blacks won so much, and in the absence of info, I assumed they were super-human specimens. But later on the article began to mention innovations etc., which made me feel that aspect was a little underdeveloped. I haven't read since my last post. Busy now sorry will try to check again soon. • Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 01:51, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
    • @Lingzhi: I have trimmed the lead but it could do with a further cull so I'll continue with that until I'm happy. The All Blacks won for a number of reasons, but their main innovation, apart from the scrum formation, was the fact that they were simply well trained, well-drilled and fit. The same reasons that they had such a good record in Australia in 1903. I'm also not sure how much of what they did was completely new, rather it was simply new to those who had not seen it. Also worth remembering that they struggled in Wales where rugby was much stronger than in England (at the time anyway). I'm going to try and think of a good way to address what you've raised. -- Shudde talk 04:46, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Shudde, your review is waiting for you now that FunkyCanute has addressed the issues you raised. I see that it's been over 50 days since you last edited on Wikipedia; I hope all is well and that you return soon. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 19:11, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

@FunkyCanute and BlueMoonset: I'm very sorry about this. Things in real life have gotten in the way a bit and I completely forgot about the GA review. All I can do is apologise. I'll give the article another look in the next couple of days, and knowing FunkyCanute's track record I'm confident it'll all be up to scratch and we can finish the review. Sorry again. -- Shudde talk 01:29, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Shudde, the above post appears to be your most recent one to Wikipedia. Come the New Year, if you haven't returned to continue the review, we may need to try to find a new reviewer to take over (something that admittedly isn't that easy to do). I hope you return soon and can complete the review. Thank you very much. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:08, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
