Disambiguation link notification for September 18

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Wheelchair tennis at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gordon Reid. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WikiProject Eurovision: Important Announcement

WikiProject Eurovision
Important Announcement

Dear Project Member

Following a project community discussion, which was raised over the use of English translation columns on annual contest articles, and advice from the lead coordinator of The Guild of Copy Editors, who are extremely knowledgeable in regards to all editing practises and manual of style policies. A consensus decision has been reached to fully remove ALL English translations, as such content falls under the prohibition on original research, even if it seems helpful to the reader. This is because we have now to assume that every reader has access to automated translation tools that can always give them a sense of the meaning of the title in their native language; it is not Wikipedia's job to provide those tools for the reader. Which therefore means we are no longer to include an English translation column, nor are we to provide translation by any other means on contest articles.

Such information is currently in the process of being removed, and a new table formatting and layout style is being rolled out across all articles. Please view the new guidance on table layout at Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Format and Guides#Article layout. An example of the new table layout style can also be access via the collapsed section within this message. Thank you.

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Reads in part- 'Red links generally are not included in See also sections, nor are they linked to through templates such as 'Main or Further, since these navigation aids are intended to help readers find existing articles'. Please do not put main article links into tennis articles if the main article doesn't exist....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 23:25, 24 November 2019 (UTC):

WilliamJE Thanks for the clarification, I wasn't aware of the guidance you linked to so thanks for educating me on this. My intent for creating the main link in this case was that main links already existed for the other zones on the 1985 page, and so I was simply attempting to correct a perceived oversight. However since red links shouldn't be included in main article templates I will refrain from adding new links until the pages have been created; however I don't believe there's much I can do about the already pre-existing main article templates on the other pages with red links. Sims2aholic8 (Michael) (talk) 10:24, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

An article you recently created, 1988 Davis Cup World Group Relegation Play-offs, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Interstellarity (talk) 21:10, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:1988 Davis Cup World Group Relegation Play-offs, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:41, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi, Sims2aholic8! I saw you added two footnotes in this edit, but did not include the contents of the footnotes. Were they perhaps copied from another page? = paul2520 (talk) 15:52, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Sims2aholic8. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "1988 Davis Cup World Group Relegation Play-offs".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 06:20, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:1967 in Indonesian sport requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Eurovision: Come Together GA?

Hey! Long time no talk! I saw that you expanded Eurovision: Come Together quite a bit and have nominated it for DYK. I think it may also be a great WP:Good Article candidate. Happy to help out if needed! Grk1011 (talk) 15:16, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

@Grk1011: Hey! Indeed so, feels like a lifetime ago! (Especially given current circumstances! haha). It was actually on my mind as something that I should put for GA, hadn't got round to it but definitely will now! And thanks, any help would be really appreciated! :)
On a related note, I had recently had a thought about trying to get the ESC main page to GA, or even back to featured article status. Was going to maybe put something on the Eurovision WikiProject talk page to see if anyone would be up for helping out, so if you're willing to help out that'd be amazing! Sims2aholic8 (Michael) (talk) 15:27, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
That would be great to get the main page up to at least GA. I had a ton of time the last few months, but things are slowly getting back to normal. I can definitely help out in some way. Grk1011 (talk) 16:19, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
@Grk1011: That would be great, things are getting back to normal for me too somewhat but I figure that anything we can do when we have the time would be cool. No time limit on this obviously, though I know personally I would love to have something great in place by Rotterdam next year! So I was planning on creating a draft space at Draft:Eurovision Song Contest and we can hash things out there, have a completely clean slate to work from, take what's good from the current page, do a bit of a restructure and make the whole thing a lot more cohesive. How does all that sound? Sims2aholic8 (Michael) (talk) 16:40, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
That works. It would still make sense to post on the WikiProject talk page to see if there are more that are willing to help! Grk1011 (talk) 17:22, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
