  • Delete/merge/whatever You'll see that other editors are concerned about your article on Political economy of drugs and there's a debate about deleting it. You might want to think about saving a copy on your user page and then reworking the material together with the existing articles like Recreational drug use and Prohibition (drugs). Don't give up! Mereda, please help me to merge my articles, I would appreciate it. Also, I'm not quite sure how to find the actual debate...? Thanks for your support! Sixthsense1 18:14, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • You found the debate by yourself! It looks like there's no consensus for deletion now, but you might still find it handy to put a copy on your user page (or a subpage - see WP:Userpage for that) as you do more work with it. The merge guidance is at WP:Merge. I guess the hardest bit now is seeing where to change existing articles and their subsections. One way forward, if you want an idea to discard, might be to make clearer sections of "history" and interpretation/argument/paradigms in other articles. Be bold! Mereda 08:37, 8 November 2006 (UTC) I've also put the article into Category:Sociological theories. Maybe that might help too with more ideas for you about using structure, attribution and example in different ways. Enjoy. Mereda 13:49, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Mereda, Thanks so much for your help editing...I have posted to my user page a newer article, and I was wondering if you might help me to create sections, and subsections so that the article looks more like an encyclopedic effort than an essay before i try to repost it. I also don't quite understand a few things about editing other people's work. What I have posted may be considered a total rewrite of the Recreational Drug Use article...your comments have been so helpful, I'd appreciate any other help you can give. • Wow, a blank cheque to give bad advice! (1) Before sectioning anything, the content needs to be roughly OK against key principles WP:NPOV and WP:V. One way that sometimes helps is to look at a sentence or paragraph and mentally check that you could cite sources for precisely what it says, like WP:Citing sources. Have another good look at your opening paragraph here. (2) When you've nailed the first few sentences of an article, everything else follows! Tell the readers what you're going to tell them. (3) Have a look around and see if there's an active discussion anywhere between editors linked to the issues you're focusing on. (4) You don't need to be perfect. If in doubt, just do it!
