Hello

Hello Stephen,

I just want make sure why you deleted my first article about For10cents.com. I made some research about articles concerning other penny auctions site, and I found that (eg. Swoopo, Auctionar etc.).

Please advice,

Slawek Zawadzki (gurney halleck) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gurneyhalleck (talkcontribs) 11:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

There was nothing in the article to indicate that it was notable. Have a read of the notability guidelines for companies and organisations. If you still believe the article should be written, please let me know. Stephen! Coming... 11:51, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of my article

I'm writing this message because I believe that my deleted article is not an advertising one, I simply found my name mentioned within an article about "Venice Biennale" as I was one of the Egyptian artists who won the "Leone D'Oro" prize of the biennale in the year 1995. (Akram El Magdoub - Hamdi Attia - Medhat Shafik - Khaled Shokry). I found a lot of artist biographies included within the article, and it was obvious that it is the kind of service that "Wikipedia" provides. So I thought to put some information about these artists who had won that valuable prize, starting by myself, otherwise it would be un-useful information just mentioning "only the names".

Thanks for your time. Akram elmagdoub (talk) 17:22, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

My apologies - the article was written as a series of achievements, and when these are written by the individual concerned, these are often self-promotional. I would still advise against writing an article about yourself though, as detailed in the link I posted on your talk page. However, I can't see there being an issue with you writing about the other artists, providing they are notable (see guidance on notability).
I would thoroughly recommend getting involved with Wikipedia:WikiProject Arts, as there are bound to be editors who can assist you with writing these articles. You never know, someone might even write an article about you! Stephen! Coming... 09:22, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Sjb72. You have new messages at Kudpung's talk page.

Chris Webby

Stephen,

I am writing to you as I'm having a little trouble creating a wiki page for Chris Webby. It has been made and deleted several times including from yourself. I apologize if this isn't the right way to contact you, but I dont know what else to do, this site is super confusing and rather formal/technical.

You listed him as not eligible to be notable but the according to the guildelines, we meet several...

A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, hip hop crew, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if meeting any one of the following criteria:

Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes school newspapers, personal blogs, etc.).

XXL Magazine XXL.com MTV 2 MTVU 2dopeboyz.com Played on several radio stations

Has had a hit on a national music chart in at least one large or medium-sized country.[1]

Currently listed at number 8 hip hop album on itunes, as well as 68 overal album. He peaked at number 3 iTunes album and number 1 hip hop album.

Farleynyc (talk) 21:05, 7 December 2011 (UTC)farleynyc

The reason for the deletion was there was no notability indicated on the article (the version I deleted). I am not sure if I deleted the same one you worked on. From looking at your contributions - including deleted - the only edit you have made is the one on my talk page, as I guess you might have had a different account name back then. The Chris Webby article I deleted stated that he was about to release his first single. If he has charted now, then it should be notable enough to avoid speedy deletion. However, it might not be enough to pass AFD should it be nominated, so I suggest you choose one of the following approaches:
1) I'll restore the article version I deleted, and move it to User:Farleynyc/Chris Webby where you can work on it till you have placed sufficient references on it to show notability. It can then be moved to Wikipedia. Please note though that it may not be enough to pass the notability guidelines, and it could still be deleted.
2) Make your case at Deletion Review, showing why he is notable. You will get a decision fairly quickly, and if it is restored, you can update it accordingly. If the concensus that he isn't notable enough yet, then you won't have wasted any more effort.
Let me know what you want to do, and I will help where I can. Stephen! Coming... 10:36, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Help Please

Hi StephenBuxton, I am in need of some help. It appears that an admin named Toddst has not acted in good faith, and has publicly said that he thinks I'm a sock. I can assure you that I am not. I have seen the history of this admin and it looks like s/he accused you of bad admin work a couple of weeks ago without evidence. Could you kindly ask this admin to provide evidence from here on in when accusing others? I would like to know why and what evidence suggests that I am a sock. Thanks. 24.52.237.81 (talk) 15:32, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

My apologies for not responding sooner; busy weekend and no secure internet access.
It would appear that whether or not you are a sock you have been blocked. And from looking at the limited edits you have made, I can see why. To avoid further accusations of being a sock once your block has expired, just go about Wikipedia doing decent edits. Edits consisting entirely of complaints and of canvassing other admins is not going to win you friends. Stephen! Coming... 22:15, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I am Aaron and i just was wondering why you deleted my bands page. Just like every band out there we have fans and if they wanted to read up on our facts i wanted to let them have there choice. But your fast deletion of my page is only making it harder for my and my band mates to move forward. Please stop. I do take this offensively due to you deleting it twice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaronapocolypse (talkcontribs) 00:43, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

First of all, I only deleted one of your articles - it was a different administrator who deleted the other one. The reason it was deleted was because there was nothing on the page to indicate your band was notable. Have a read of WP:BAND. If you can demonstrate that the band meets the notability requirements, I will restore your page. Alternatively, you can ask for an independent review at Deletion Review. However, I would ask you to reconsider writing about your own band, because of conflict of interest issues. Stephen! Coming... 10:26, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

You deleted my Article Kashmir Pharmaceutical ltd

Hi Stephen.

you know I am here because you deleted one of my page, Kashmir Pharmaceutical Ltd. Actually page was incomplete and I was intending to remove all such items which qualify it for speedy deletion. My motive behind creating this page was to bring ideas how this company is planning to bring employment to unemployed youth of Kashmir valley which is one of the worest hit of violence since past 20 years. Though that information was not yet updated, my intentions are quite fair. Hope you can remove the deletion tag so that I can modify the page according to the Wikipedia guidlines.

Thank you.

Sincerely Yours Rukhsar Ahmad Ganiee User: RukhsarG — Preceding unsigned comment added by RukhsarG (talkcontribs) 09:47, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

There were two reasons that it was deleted. The first was that there was nothing on the page to indicate that the company is notable. It isn't enough to say that it will be notable in the near future, as these articles are not permitted until the subject becomes notable. The other reason was that it read as an advertisement, another type of article that is not permitted.
If you can demonstrate that the company is notable, and you will make it a more neutral article, then I will consider restoring it. Alternatively, you can ask someone else to review it at deletion review. Stephen! Coming... 10:35, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

I spent hours writing it and you deleted it! Do you not respect or recognize professional gold prospectors?? How is a self made millionare suppose to publish himself on wiki? You deleted my article, and I WANT IT BACK!!! Just because I dont have bunch of links and notables in my article you ASSUME im not real? What an Insult... I give you the chance to reconsider your actions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davegunn99 (talkcontribs) 06:59, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

I refer you to the answer I gave you earlier, which not only explains why it was deleted, but explains how you can get it back. This is nothing to do with whether or not I believe what you have written. Follow the instructions I gave you, and the article might be restored.
Two more things. First of all, it is not recommended to write articles about yourself. It isn't forbidden, but it can cause issues. Have a read of the conflict of interest policy for more details. Wikipedia is not a business directory; www.linkedin.com will be more use to you.
Secondly, and more importantly: Your last sentence I give you the chance to reconsider your actions is coming very close to making threats. Threats, be it legal or other, will result in you being blocked. I am prepared at this point to believe you are just using words in the heat of the moment without meaning them, so I will not be taking any action. However, if you continue in this manner, I am required to report your actions to the Wikimedia Foundation. Stephen! Coming... 11:41, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Ok!, That does it, I'm out of the bloody place. I'm forced to contribute the song else where. Thaweerat 15:46, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

That is entirely up to you.  You should be aware that the reason it was deleted was because there was nothing in the article to indicate that it was notable. If you can demonstrate that it meets the general notability guidelines I will happily restore it. An article consisting of a link to a you tube page is not notable. Stephen! Coming... 11:48, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Acknowledge, I'll study our guidelines before contributing some more. What I'd say is; our Wiki could do better. Despite that you're working so hard, you could have go easy on novices like us. I don't mind your deletion now. On others hand, can your system do disable the unqualified articles and rollback them to an private user page whose just contributed them. Consider it, this way we novices feel ease of usability-we'll consider wether to improve or delete the articles ourselves-, data transfers between wiki severs could be reduced, and you don't have to work so hard. It's win & win improvement, what is your thought? Thaweerat 15:46, 21 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Garlenife (talkcontribs)

What you are referring to is userfying an article. I don't do it for every article I delete, but I do if someone requests the article be restored as they have more material to add. This is to give them time to work on the article without it being deleted. The reason I don't do it with every article is because I don't delete the articles that show the slightest credible assertion of notability. Yes, they can still be deleted, but the deletion process for WP:PROD and WP:AFD lasts several days and gives plenty of opportunity for additional work.
A template that might be of interest to you is {{Template:New page}}. If you are fully aware of the notability guidelines, placing this at the top of a new article should give you some time. However, articles that break WP:BLP or WP:copyvio rules will be deleted straight away.
Hope this helps. Stephen! Coming... 20:30, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
One final thing - you don't need to cut and paste the old thread from the middle of the talk page to the bottom. I monitor all activity on this talk page, and I know immediately exactly what edits have been done. Cutting and pasting threads could cause problems if not done properly; much safer to add your comments to your thread as you originally did and leave it in place. If you're worried about it being archived prematurely, don't be; threads that have not been touched for a set period of time are archived - by adding to the thread, the timer resets Stephen! Ilovethebeach.com

Dear StephenBuxton

I would like to thank you for supporting a page I made called ilovethebeach.com I was wondering if you may please help me get it installed again?

Paulmcanders (talk) 03:33, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

What you need to do is show notabilty, address the concerns that were raised at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ilovethebeach.com, and show that it meets the requirements of WP:WEB. If you can do that, then the article is likely to survive.
I'll see about restoring and moving the article to a user area a bit later today, so you can work on building the article up without fear of deletion (although it could be deleted immediately if it breaks the rules on WP:BLP, WP:SPAM and WP:COPYVIO). When it is ready, we can see about moving it to main space. Stephen! Coming... 08:01, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
I've had a look at the deleted article, there are quite a few versions. If I am to restore a version, do you have any preference to which one? Also, one of the reasons that the article was deleted (following the AFD) was it was considered spam. I can see why that was the case, as it isn't easy to write an article about a product (be it a website, goods, company, etc) without it sounding like an advert. You might also want to have a read of WP:PROMO and WP:Puffery. Stephen! Coming... 12:57, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks a lot man you are the best!!! To answer your question I am not afiliated with site. I am just looking to spread a neutral stance on this subject. Now in my progress i have found this link : http://www.ilovethebeach.com/reviews.htm

As you can see it has very high ratings which proves it is 1# in it's field. We can find a lot of notability here.

Another thing I was talking to godo about was the fact the the site made a video with Victoria Beckham topless. Here is the news article :

http://exclusivo.terra.com.br/interna/0,,OI1312608-EI1118,00.html

It is in portuguese so you will have to translate it.

Paulmcanders (talk) 18:28, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

I've checked out the links, and the ones concerning Victoria Beckham don't actually mention the website at all. As for the links to the videos, I think you'll have trouble including those. I've seen these sorts of links being removed before, and copyright is often cited, as these video share sites often have videos on there without the permission of the copyright holder. I'm not 100% certain if that is the reason; as I said earlier, my understanding of copyright law is limited to "stuff copied onto Wikipedia is deleted immediately".
What you need to find are 3rd party reviews from notable sources, or discussion about the website in the media.
I'll carry on giving the help that I can, but please be aware that I do a lot of my Wikipedia editing whilst at work, and you'll appreciate that there are restrictions as to what sort of websites I can view during those hours LOL! Questions you ask will be answered... but not necessarily straight away.
I'm sure if you ask Gogo, they'll be more than willing to give guidance. However, might I suggest enlisting help from Wikipedia:WikiProject Pornography - there are probably a lot of editors there who can help you with the article, and give you their honest opinion as to whether or not it will be notable enough for the Wiki. Also, there may be articles that you can help them with - win/win situation! Stephen! Coming... 18:12, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

MSU Interview

Dear StephenBuxton,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Just got round to reading this having been rather busy since you posted it to my talk page. Thanks for pointing me out it, it made for an interesting read. Even knowing that I still think it's speedable as an attack page because of the way it's written but if I had known that, or found it out, I'd probably have created a stub myself afterwards. Dpmuk (talk) 07:05, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

I don't hold it against anyone who said it should be deleted as an attack page, as it does look like a DUCK - to do anything else would be unfair. However, as an exercise, it is a useful reminder that people should check everything, including the spelling of the article title (Malcom Hardee instead of Malcolm Hardee). The best answer is to replace with a redirect to correct article and tag it as a plausible redirect through spelling error. Stephen! Coming... 08:03, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
That will teach me not to go back and look at the original question you asked. It now being a week later I didn't picked up on the name difference. Yep in that case redirect rather than stub. Must be honest that when I answered the questions I assumed they were entirely hypothetical and wouldn't be on real people, companies etc so didn't even check google (like I normally would). Bad assumption on my part that. Dpmuk (talk) 08:11, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

MokiMobility page

You deleted a MokiMobility page and I believe that it may have simply been a case of edits necessary to improve the quality of the article and move it beyond the A7. Can you please help me understand what needs to be changed/added to meet the requirements? I modelled it after similar articles like AirWatch but apparently I missed something. Thanks for your help. --Bradem1976 (talk) 18:55, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

The difference between AirWatch and MokiMobility was that the former showed notability - it had won a whole series of awards and was able to demonstrate the notability through references. Being award-winning isn't the only way a company can show notability - have a read of WP:COMPANY to see the notability guidelines. If you can show me that MokiMobility meets the requirements, I'll restore the page for you to build upon. Alternatively, you can make your case at Deletion Review. Stephen! MokiMobility page deletion

I understand the reasons for deleting the MokiMobility page. I'm not affiliated with the company but am somewhat familiar with them. I would like to help improve that page and get it up to standards so it can be included. How may I go about doing that? Snay2 (talk) 19:12, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

First off, may I please remind you that there is a policy on civility, and being rude is likely to result in being blocked?
As for the deletion of the article; there was nothing in the article to indicate that the company was notable. Not in the article. nor on the website. Have a read of the notability guidelines for companies and organisations. If you believe that the company is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia, then please let me know (including third party references from notable sources) and I will gladly restore the article for further updates.
Alternatively, if you'd rather someone else review my decision for speedy deletion, then you need to go to Deletion Review. Again, make sure that you include evidence for the article's notability, or the article will not be restored. Stephen! Coming... 12:31, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Declined speedy?

Hi! I noticed that you'd declined the speedy for Paul Palmer (author). I wanted to state my case a little. First off, nobody can find exactly what award Palmer has won. A search brings up absolutely nothing and the only thing I can find about him is a Daily Mail article. There's also some copyvio issues as he'd posted the same thing on his Amazon profile word for word, but that's not exactly what I tagged it for since I was so sure that he'd be deleted via the speedy I'd nominated him for. As for his journalism career, I found one article that he wrote for the Daily Mail, but nothing on there to show that he'd won any awards or that he'd even had that big of a career with them. There's just nothing out there and I thought it'd be a waste of time for it to sit on AfD for another week.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 13:55, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

As I explained on the AFD, a credible assertion of notability is sufficient to be declined a speedy deletion. Just because there is nothing visible on the internet doesn't make the claim any the less credible. Also, he has published work in a national newspaper; again, a claim for notability. Two people saying "delete" in an AFD is not a sufficient reason to switch to a speedy deletion. Have a read of the rules and criteria for WP:CSD for why the criteria is so narrow, and another read of WP:CSD#A7 to see why this article does not meet it. Stephen! Deletion

Hello Steven why has this article been deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kairoscm (talkcontribs) 12:55, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

I assume you mean Weatherseal? Two reasons: one was that there was nothing in the article to indicate that it was a notable company (see WP:COMPANY). Secondly, the entire article was written as an advert, right down to including the company's address and telephone number (see WP:ADVERT). If you disagree with my reasoning for deletion, then by all means state your case, either to me or to Deletion Review. In either case, you will need to provide reasons to demonstrate notability and assurances that you aren't writing an advert. Stephen! Coming... 13:05, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Optoma

Hi. I'm trying to create an informative page about the projector company, Optoma. It was deleted as self-promotion. Can you help me create an informative, non-promotional page just detailing the history of the company and what they provide?

Anne — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnneRinger (talkcontribs) 22:50, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

First of all, the page has been protected (see WP:SALT) which prevents it from being created again. I would suggest that before you try and create the article, check to see if the company is notable. See WP:COMPANY for the notability requirements for companies. If the company does not meet the requirements, then no amount of neutrality in the text will prevent it from being deleted again.
If it is notable, then I would suggest creating the page in your own user area (see WP:USERFY). Write the article, drop me a note and I will cast my eye over it to check it meets the requirements. If it does, I'll happily see about getting it moved. If it isn't, I will advise you on what you need to do.
An alternative route to take is to present your case to deletion review; make sure you can demonstrate notability though.
One final thing though - if you are in any way connected with the company, I would suggest that you do NOT create this article - have a read of the conflict of interest policy for the reasons why. Stephen! Coming... 07:09, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Decline of CSD A7 on Rich Arons and Jen Gould

Hi. I notice you have declined CSD A7 on these 2 persons - they were, along with 3 others, raised by an IP as not meeting notability guidelines. I should explain that prior to the application of the CSD tags I placed on these and the other articles, I consulted with an admin on this project via this Wikipedia's IRC channel, to ensure my theory (that none met GNG or were reliably sourced) was correct, and the administrator I consulted confirmed that A7 (Person) would be suitable for all of them. Could you please explain more clearly why you declined these and where their notability criteria would be found to merit their inclusion? Thank you.  BarkingFish  20:58, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Funnily enough, I was in the process of dropping a note on your talk page about the very topic! I guess you've seen it now. If what I wrote hasn't answered your questions, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification. Stephen! Coming... 21:08, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
It doesn't, entirely. You mention that some of these don't need to provide references, but they're BLP, which means they need to be referenced and reliably sourced, and at least one of those I tagged only had IMDb as a source (which is not reliable), and no references whatsoever. Maybe they are notable, but as BLPs they're in an appalling condition. 2 of those you declined will be going to AFD, the other 2 will be sent via BLP Prod. Thanks.  BarkingFish  21:16, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes, articles - particularly BLPs - need to be referenced by reliable sources. And whenever I decline an article of a living person for CSD, I always check to see whether or not it is a candidate for WP:BLPPROD. However, none of those were, as those that didn't contain references were created before March 18th 2010, and as such are not eligible for deletion in this manner. I did check through the article to see if there was any contentious material (i.e. negative BLP or attacks) and as there was none, I did not need to remove any parts of the article. Stephen! I'm part of a team that is researching ways to help Wikipedia editors find interesting content to contribute to Wikipedia. More specifically, we are investigating whether content from news sources can be used to enhance Wikipedia editing. We have created a tool, called wikiFeed, that allows you to specify Twitter and/or RSS feeds from news sources that are interesting to you. wikiFeed then helps you make connections between those feeds and Wikipedia articles. We believe that using this tool may be a lot of fun, and may help you come up with some ideas on how to contribute to Wikipedia in ways that interest you. Please participate! To do so, complete this survey and follow this link to our website. Once you're there, click the "create an account" link to get started.

Stop pages from being indexed

Hey, Stephen! To stop a page from being indexed by search engines, you just need to add the magic word "__NOINDEX__" to the page. This should stop the page from being indexed -- although, in this case, they've already been duplicated on various Wikipedia mirrors, etc.... ah well. :) Theopolisme :) 07:33, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Mindy White, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Copeland (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

No further action is required from you with regards to the move, but you can carry on editing the article and providing appropriate links to it. As far as Google searches are concerned, I'm not the best person to ask about that as I don't know how Google prioritises the order. I generally don't worry, as I have seen in the past that the Wiki articles pretty quickly end up near the top of the list within a short period. Stephen! Coming... 09:17, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I'll wait and see if it changes - I was worried that I didn't transfer it correctly so that it didn't appear in the top list. Also I think that I've done a mistake with her photo file -since it appears in the list also as if it's a wiki entry in itself. Perhaps I didn't transfer it correcty from the wikicommons, and that it the reason why it appears there? Is there a way to erase it? Thanks again.. Meitalklachuk (talk) 10:57, 21 August 2012 (UTC)meitalklachukMeitalklachuk (talk) 10:57, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

The reason it is appearing in the search results is because the name is in the file name. This is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. In fact, if someone is searching for Rachel Black and they click on the image file, they will find the link to the article file. So don't worry about it. Stephen! Deletion of wiki page Business School PAR

Hello

Today you have speedy deleted our page Business school PAR because it was an advert. I have edited and posted this article on Wikipedia a couple of times already, every time with the same result.

Please, be nice and answer what part specifically is disputable, for I see no reason for this decision.

Please argue point by point so I don't do the same mistake again.

Sincerey, Marina — Preceding unsigned comment added by Parovci (talkcontribs) 13:45, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

There were TWO reasons it was deleted. One was because it was written like an advert, and secondly it was copyright violation - huge chunks of copied text from the website. Both of those are sufficient reasons for speedy deletion.
By all means re-create the article, but you must not copy and paste the text from the website. Write it in your own words. I might suggest creating the article in your own area and then moving it across to article space. It is less likely to be speedy deleted there, although copyright violations will always be removed immediately. Stephen! Coming... 13:55, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of wiki page Business School PAR -explanation

Dear , Firstly let me thank you for your prompt answer, I truly appreciate it.

Secondly, I must most disappointed my article was speedily deleted as it has nothing copy pasted from the Par.hr/en website. I have consulted with their webmaster and they agree. Hence, I hope this second reason is resolved. Thirdly, I really cannot see how this article is seen as an advert, as non of it is marketing or promo material - it is factual. Should you see this in a different light, please point out the parts that you see as arguable?!

Many thanks in advance, Marina — Preceding unsigned comment added by Parovci (talkcontribs) 08:27, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

I'll have another look in a bit at the deleted page, and give you some specific feedback. But first, can I check - are you associated with the Business school in any way? If so, I would strongly urge you not to write an article about it - see policy on Conflict of Interest. Stephen! Coming... 09:03, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
Ok, it looks like the Copyrighted report was in error. However, the whole article does still read as an advert. Take this paragraph, for example:
The Business School PAR is located in the very centre of Rijeka. It can be found at the Školjić 9, 51000 Rijeka. Rijeka is the capital of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, a region which consists of an unusual link between the sea and mountains extending from the Mount Ucka to the Velebit Mountain. On the western side of Rijeka, lies the famous Opatija Riviera, the oldest and most popular Croatian tourist region. To the east is the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera known for spa and wellness tourism. City of Rijeka lies beneath Gorski Kotar - the most preserved part of the region - which ensures high quality drinking water and clear air. Rijeka has good connections, by bus and railway, as well as with four international airports.
Only the first sentence, that being the location, is relevant - the school is in Rijeka. NOTHING ELSE in the paragraph is of any relevance to the article, and so reads as though you are telling people why you should attend this school.
Other paragraphs don't help. Like this one:
Business Academy Rijeka (Poslovna Akademija Rijeka - P.A.R. ltd) was founded in year 2007. with the vision to become a leading degree provider for academic fields that are underdeveloped in the region of Western Balkans
Uses of words like "Vision" with companies and organisations automatically make people think of advertising copy. Couple this with the paragraph apparently advertising the beautiful region it is in, and it emphasises the whole advert nature of this article.
Have a read of WP:WORDS for an idea of the words to watch. Hope this helps! Stephen! Coming... 09:31, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey Stephen, thanks for the prompt reply, responding to your claims that the page is fully sourced. This page appears to have been specifically created to attack a disparag a public figure with unsubstantiated accounts from non reputable sources written in a foreign language by political opponents! Reasons are numerous in this case: All references are single source references with partisan agenda. references 1 and 7 are blogs. 7 is a republican forum with a partisan agenda. The rest of the references publish in french and the translations are at best unreliable using google translate. The websites referenced are personal outlets of political opponent not news organizations in the reputable sense.

The page fails both the tone and balance policies of the BLP policy: BLPs should be written responsibly, cautiously, and in a dispassionate tone, avoiding both understatement and overstatement. Articles should document in a non-partisan manner what reliable secondary sources have published about the subjects...

Seed Savers Network

Hello Stephen,

Your page deletion feels a bit extreme.

Admittedly the page I created was a bit sparse - but I think the organisation is worthy of a mention. Surely work here on Wikipedia should be trying to build a more comprehensive store of knowledge through collaboration, not removing pages as they are created??

The work of the Seed Savers Network is widely noted, they are turning up over 19000 hits on Google. A number of comparable, shorter lived organisations operating in other countries have pages on Wikipedia.

I quoted its publicly stated aims, which I would hardly imagine would be a copyright infringement? (maybe I should have put it inside a set of "" ?)

Can we not have the page back??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DOHill (talkcontribs) 00:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Not in the condition it was in when I deleted it. It was a direct copy from the About-Us page, which is in direct violation of the copyright policy. As it consisted of nothing but a copy, I cannot restore it. I would suggest that you start from scratch in a userfied area, and then move the article to mainspace when it is ready.
But before you start re-writing the article, are you associated with Seed Savers at all? If you are, then I would strongly advise you against writing the article, as there will be a conflict of interest.
If you disagree with my suggested action, and wish for an independant review of the deleted article, then feel free to take it to Deletion Review. Stephen! Coming... 07:22, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
