FIXED (i think): File source problem with File:SusanNHerman 2011.jpg[edit]

I think I have fixed the problem, but not absolutely sure as I am new and had a hard time finding the information. I hope you'll let me know if I am still missing something. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rsd315 (talkcontribs) 18:27, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

copywrite[edit]

hi

I don't get a chance to find time to get on this site; I have added a note on myself or user page.

i would like to say that any image i have ever loaded to this site or load in the future I physically took the photograph myself and thus own the copy write. Although actually a qualified Java programmer i am a bit embarrassed not only about my poor spelling sometimes , but also that I sometimes fail to use this system correctly and thus I don't state the status of the copy write to an image.

Without having to wade through a load of “how to” can you not just message to me what I am supposed to do , to indicate I have the copy write to an image & am prepared to release it to the world.

 cheers

2011 ASG Image[edit]

Yeah, it got orphaned because Baboquivari1 and a couple of anons insisted their image belongs on the article. It's terrible and I tried reverting but I didn't want to be driven into 3RR and a request for protection was turned down. –BuickCenturyDriver 07:08, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not to be nit picky but...[edit]

I was about to decline the CSD F5 on File:DYK of flash-lamp 7-15-2009.png because it is not even a fair use image. It does not contain the Wikipedia logo in the shot and should rather be FFD for non/no longer used / need image. As you are far more active than me at images, am I missing something? Kindly Calmer Waters 03:46, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It did have the Wikipedia-screenshot, and granted it didn't have the logo on it - but I used IAR and rather than wait another week or longer to put it though the images-for-deletion process to get to the same decision, just went ahead and deleted it. Probably should have noted the G6 rationale. Skier Dude (talk) 03:51, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, The clear cut cases are fairly straight forth; however, I have a ways to go to learn all the underlining copy-right details for the ones that take (at least for a newb like me :) more thought, like the ones with both fair and free use licenses on the same image, ones with rudimentry logos like just plain boxes, old images that may or may not be out of copy-right, among others. Thanks for the insight and help. Have a good evening Calmer Waters 04:01, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kathy Calvin photo[edit]

Why did you delete the photo? I had explained when I uploaded it that it is a personal photograph and I had rights to use it. Terence7 (talk) 05:05, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you wrote that the reason was "F4: Lack of licensing information" but that page states that the image had to be identified as such for 7 days before it could be deleted. You did not tag it and then allow 7 days but rather deleted it immediately. Terence7 (talk) 05:12, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of image from The Library Corporation (TLC)[edit]

Hi there. I'm curious why you removed the photo from TLC page. It is a non-copyrighted photo used with the company's permission. You did not provide an explanation for your decision and the page had already been approved by an administrator. Jessdfacts (talk) 11:02, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The image in question File:TLC Inwood Staff.jpg was deleted, as my edit summary stated, according to Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Files#F4, as it had neither a source nor a coppyright template. And, FYI, the image is still under discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Library Corporation (TLC), it has not been approved by an administrator. Skier Dude (talk) 03:33, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked everywhere and cannot find your edit summary, only the fact that you deleted the image. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. Where is it? As far as the image is concerned, it's more accurate to say that it was labeled inaccurately. I'm new to Wikipedia, so I would have preferred a message pointing out my mistake rather than having the image deleted without notification. This is something I could have fixed with proper guidance. Removal of image from The Library Corporation (TLC)[edit]

Hi there. I posted this message yesterday but may have put it in a place you did not see it. I'm curious why you removed the photo from TLC page. It is a non-copyrighted photo used with the company's permission. You did not provide an explanation for your decision and the page had already been approved by an administrator. Jessdfacts (talk) 15:51, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) As Skier Dude replied above, the image had neither a source link nor a proper copyright tag both of which are necessary requirement for images to be kept here. If the copyright holder wishes to give us their appropriate permission, please follow the procedure found at WP:CONSENT and the image may be restored and an WP:OTRS ticket attached to the image to show it has permission. Don't forget to give the original image name. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 03:53, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you mark these files for deletion?[edit]

Hello - I noticed that you marked three files I uploaded for deletion citing that they're fair use but not used in any articles. In fact, all 3 images, File:DMBLiveTrax18.JPG, File:LT16Riverbend.jpg, and File:LiveTrax14.jpg are used in articles corresponding to their name, as is clearly noted on the image pages (Live Trax Vol. 18, Live Trax Vol. 16, and Live Trax Vol. 14, respectively). What, exactly, is the problem? Darry2385 (talk) 04:58, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed on my watchlist that someone redirected all the Live Trax articles, thus rendering the images unnecessary, but then those edits were undone. Disregard my message, cheers! Darry2385 (talk) 05:02, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request Image Help for IRC Entry[edit]

Hi Skier Dude,

Please help....

I'm having a problem loading 3 images into the article I'm writing on a last century independent film distribution company (IRC) at User:Sinclairindex/Intercontinental Releasing Corporation.

I am certain the problem is me but less certain about what to do to correct the problem. All three images carry the message:

Orphaned non-free image File:IRC Logo ('86).png
Orphaned non-free image File:Call of the Wild–(1972)–Poster.jpg
Orphaned non-free image File:Chino Poster.jpg

1. The first image is the IRC Company Logo at 1. I thought I had the correct license info, tags, etc., but it seems not. While I uploaded from an original source, the logo appears on quite a few net sites but this one, while reduced is a much better one.. The company was dissolved in '96 and I believe the use would fall under "fair use" in that the image represents the subject is question-

FOR THE NEXT TWO IMAGES - I thought it important to show images from several different genre of films that this distributor carried. I selected two of their earlier successful releases (Chino and Call of the Wild) and uploaded images from posters that I had. I'm awaiting permission before loading a third one.

The two posers I am having trouble with are:

2. The Chino poster at; 2 and...

3. The Call of the Wild poster at:3

I thought that I was using licensing and information similar to other wikipedia images re: posters, logos, etc., but have obviously missed something. I know that you are busy but I would appreciate any help you could provide when you have a chance. I understand the orphan comment (or maybe I dont') but these images were placed in an article (?).

I would appreciate any help you could provide.

Stingrays logos[edit]

The logos were uploaded for use on the South Carolina Stingrays page. They were originally used on the page in a gallery format, which has been brought to my attention as being improper. There is no real way to fit them into the article in a fashion that is not cumbersome otherwise, so at this point I see no reason not to remove them.  Cjmclark (Contact) 15:04, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Orphaned non-free image[edit]

2 Orphaned non-free image File:PalestinianEconomicNewsletter 1996.jpg [edit]

Thanks for uploading File:PalestinianEconomicNewsletter 1996.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under aclaim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk)10:28 pm, 10 June 2011, last Friday (3 days ago) (UTC−5) Hello,

Orphaned non-free image File:100-Baht Banknote Series 14 Back.jpg[edit]

All Thai banknote and coin images were removed from all Thai baht Wikipedia articles in all languages except the one in Thai, including the article on Education in Thailand, for which the Series 14 back had served to illustrate the subject, as it depicted education for boys in Thai wats, and in modern schools with the national flag as a central motif. The images apparently were removed in deference to Censorship in Thailand, lest these cause "misunderstanding" of what is euphemistically called "the Royal Institution." I do not have a secondary source for why it was removed from the education article, but is likely had to to with the murder of Thai monks and destruction of government schools during the as yet ongoing South Thailand insurgency. I'll try to find a source relating to the insurgency and discontinuance of the series 14 notes, replaced by series 15 with the politically sensitive issue of the freeing of slaves by Rama v, but I don't know what to use for search terms. --Pawyilee (talk) 11:57, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried to change the text to have it more in line with what is needed on Wki, but the change does not seem to show in the file. Hi Skier Dude,

Many thanks for your help with the Orphan Image problems. Great explanation and something I was unaware of. I did know that the problem was me! I have moved the article and de-orphaned the posters at 4.

I was unable to get the IRC logo in the article box (located at: 5) to show. If it has not been permanently deleted, I would appreciate it if you would load in the box when you have a chance.

Thanks again for your help, Best regards Sinclairindex (talk) 15:35, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Software UI screenshots[edit]

You added a reduction request to this file, which was then reduced by a bot. The screenshot showed important features of the software, such as the node-based graph, examples for available nodes, the scene explorer, the slate information and available animation tools. All of this has become illegible now due to the image size reduction and would require separate legible screenshots for clarification. The fair use rationale seemed quite sufficient without a size reduction.

What's more, many other types of software use high resolution images to show the UI. Some of these have been online for 4 years without requiring size reductions. Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Mudbox, Adobe InDesign or Microsoft Excel. Chris TC01 (talk) 09:03, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
