MSU Interview

[edit]

Dear Sky Harbor,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview for Admins

[edit]

Dear Sky Harbor,

Hello my name is Steven Stark, I am a student at Michigan State University working on an exploration of the Wikipedia adminship process. I want to start by thanking you for agreeing to answer a few questions about your experiences being a Wikipedia administrator. These questions should take no more than 30 minutes to answer.

Just a reminder that these interviews are anonymous, and while we are using your user name to keep track of responses, your name will not be used in any of our reports. If you have questions at any time, please feel free to let me know.

Please do not post any of the questions, your responses or any of our correspondence on-wiki at this time. This is to protect the integrity of the interview process. If you would like to post this material online, please wait until June 1, 2012 to do so. You can email me at: starkst3@msu.edu

Thanks so much!

Hi, Steven. Sure, I can agree with answering your questions. However, please be advised that I am leaving for Ireland tomorrow at noon CET (Central European Time), and I won't be back in Warsaw until Tuesday. I'll try to answer the questions as best as I can, but I may not be able to send them until Tuesday at the latest: I'll try to send them in though over the St. Patrick's Day weekend.
You can send me an e-mail via the Emailuser function, or you may send them over at jamesjoshualim@yahoo.com. Thanks. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 00:35, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Borongan Airport

[edit]

Please note that BPR is not the IATA code of Borongan Airport. Indeed, you can check on the IATA official Web site and/or on FlightStats for instance. -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 08:18, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was on an airline timetable (as it is, not all airports in the Philippines are in either database). I think that should speak for itself. --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:28, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. I work for a GDS, providing (among other things) IT services for over 100 airlines, and inter-acting with all the airline-related systems (e.g., on-line and off-line travel agencies, airline systems, TMC, airline's own travel offices) of the world. We receive and process daily official flight schedules for all the airlines of the world, including of course airlines from Philippines. It is just to tell you that I can safely state whether a given airport code is IATA/ICAO or not. Nevertheless, thanks for all your valuable contributions! -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 13:20, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:TVP Northern Luzon new logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TVP Northern Luzon new logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:14, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Cultural Properties of the Philippines in Metro Manila, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Central United Methodist Church (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
