rewrite
[edit]Hi Skywolf, thanks for the heads up on the stub Planet X Television. I have attempted to rewrite the article. Could you check it? This could be a much longer article, as the show has been existence about 12 years and helped launch several names in extreme sports and in television (ex show hosts, etc). Also I just saw the project television page. Do you recommend writing the article again according to these guidelines? Am new to this, please advise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aliyah marr (talk • contribs) 05:15, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- For a good rewrite of the article, it would need more details about not only what they do, but how they operate. Also it's best to not only include good things, but also criticism. An article that shows both sides is considered to have a neutral Point of View. This doesn't mean that everything has a bad side, however it's a good idea to write the article as if you are just a bystander. Also links to external websites should be avoided if they can be. If you do need them in there, put a separate section at the end labeled External Links. And last but not least, rewriting an article is very hard work, especially on a topic that does not have much research value so I commend you for wishing to do this. If you need any examples about other companies or television networks, check out articles on the major ones and use them to base your research on. NBC for example contains info about the company's history, some of their international ventures, spin-offs and even failed shows. I wish you the best of luck! --Skywolf talk/contribs 21:16, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Crumbs!
[edit]Wow that was quick regarding the images on the Huddersfield article I was still in the middle of notifying User:MCB about the problem after putting it on the wiki helpdesk. The waterfront quarter image has been copied from another website. Take a look at my info posted to MCB on his talk page. A quick look at the uploaders contrib shows has also added further unsourced images Richard Harvey 20:29, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I will look into them, but ultimatly it is the user who posted them to prove on way or another. They have one week from the adding of the copyvio tag. --Skywolf talk/contribs 20:35, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- He's removing tags without saying sources etc, will give it a few days to see what happens. --Skywolf talk/contribs 20:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I've just finished working my way through User:Usman uks image contribs and tagged those with no sources with a {{no source|month=October|day=25|year=2006}} tag. However the following images appear with a source but do not seem to follow the requirements of the CC license of the site:- [:http://www.world66.com/about/copyright_policy]

I'm not sure if these would qualify for a delete tag without the relevant copyright info displayed ie author etc. Richard Harvey 22:01, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Just a quick heads up for you User:James Huddz has removed the copyvio tag you placed on the image that he uploaded from [:www.waterfrontquarter.co.uk]. Richard Harvey 19:37, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up --Skywolf talk/contribs 20:37, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Second heads up! The image was deleted, however User:James Huddz has now reloaded it. with a slightly different name. Image:Waterfront Huddersfield.jpg. I have tagged it, along with 2 others he has repeated, and put it up as a copyvio and noted the previous coyvio notice you did on the image page. Richard Harvey 11:28, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Help
[edit]Please can you remove the speedy delete thing from George Trevelyan (New Age spiritualist) which was added before I had a chance to create it's destination page? DuncanHill 01:33, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Once a speedy delete tag is added, in order to remove it you should contest it. There is currently a contest tag on the page and when an admin reviews it he or she will make the final decision. --Skywolf talk/contribs 01:40, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, it seems to have been resolved now, DuncanHill 01:46, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Followup re missing page on Deaf History
[edit]Hi Skywolf, I just read your reply on my talk page. Just to refresh your memory, I will paste the Q & A here:
- In the "See also" section of the article on Hearing impairment there is a link to an article on Deaf history. But instead of "Deaf History," all I found there was the article on "Deafness", which I had already seen at its URL (I believe it was redirected). How do I find out what's going on here? Cgingold 04:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- At the top left corner of the article, there is a note saying it was redirected. Appearently there may have been an article entitled Deaf history at one point in time, but may have been merged with deftness. --Skywolf talk/contribs 04:54, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
The thing is, there's nothing whatsoever about Deaf History in the article on Deafness. So I still don't know what happened -- and I still don't know where to go to get a definitive answer. Can you at least point me in the right direction? Cgingold 05:19, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you -- I'm afraid that answers my question. :( I was really hoping to find something about Deaf History -- I guess I will have to put in a request for an article. Please remind me, there's a place to do that, right?? Cgingold 06:07, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

David Eddings pages prods
[edit]hello, I noticed you've dropped Prods on all the Eddings pages, claiming all the information on their pages is replicated on the book page. Neither the book pages, nor the list of character pages maintain the level of plot-etail and character hsitory provided on the individual pages. Can you please clarify where you see the information replicated? Thank you. ThuranX 21:21, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Much of the information in the separate articles relating to the characters is speculative, and as such is not encyclopedic. There are pages containing lists of the characters and a short summary about them already created and NOT marked with prod. Please see Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not - feel free to remove the prods and object to the AfD if you feel that they are encyclopedic. --Skywolf talk/contribs 21:32, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- I haven't read all the articles, but which part of WP:NOT do you feel applies to these articles, and what would you do to resolve the amounts of information lost by the mass deletion? You're proposing the deletion of a problem you see, I'm asking what is that problem specifically, with examples, and what solutions are YOU offering? ThuranX 21:45, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ugh, never mind. I dug through a few more, and there IS a lot of crap in them. go for it, and hopefully editors will push for a list of major characters sumamry list page instead. ThuranX 21:54, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- The articles read like the book does, it also offers an analysis of the character's personalities. The loss of information: Yes, it's quite vast and seems to be inputted by many users, but just because many users put something up does not mean it fits. WP:NOT 2.9 describes why, about plot and fiction. The type of information offered is to the extent that it would belong on a David Edding's wiki or website. If every character in every work of fiction has it's own page here, Wikipedia would have hit 5 million articles already. There are several solutions here, 1) the articles can be dissected and merged into a standalone article detailing all characters, or into subsection of an article about the entire series. (Such a page already exists, which tells us the name and what their function in the story is.) 2) We can delete it all, which is what I propose since most of it seems to be in contrast to WP:NOT. It's not important to Wikipedia what someone thinks the character is about, or what we think they would be like, only what their role in the story was and why it's notable they have their own page. (ie: is the character known outside the novel in pop culture? like harry potter) --Skywolf talk/contribs 21:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
EverQuest
[edit]Greetings ;)
I found your user page at Special:Whatlinkshere/User:Scepia/EverQuest, and was wondering if you'd be willing to do some editing for another wiki. I started a family of wikis - called The KnowledgePit; it's intended to (eventually) be an encyclopedic reference for anything video game-related. MMORPGs get their own nodes (EQ KnowledgePit, [http://wow.knowledgepit.org/ WoW KnowledgePit, etc); at this time, the EQ node is the only one I've really done any work maturing. I've done a little work with the others, the node for console games more than the rest, but mostly it's the EQ one, which I've written a whole bunch of extension code for; the others are really just there as placeholders currently.
Anyway, this whole long thing is basically to ask if you'd be willing to do some editing on the EQ node, since you're a player ;) any time you'd be willing to contribute would be greatly appreciated. I threw together a little database hack so that if you sign up for one, the login info will work on all of the.m
Thanks ;)

Hi Skywolf,
I found :Image:8mm.jpg, which you uploaded some time before to en.wikipedia, on Wikimedia Commons. Permission says "The copyright holder, Brian Wolman". Are you the copyrightholder Brian Wolman?
I want to know it, so that I can choose the correct licence tag. {{No rights reserved}} shouldn't be used any longer on Commons, so I change the licence. I changed it to {{PD-user-en}}, but I can't be sure if you're the author.
Please tell me on my [:Commons:User talk:D-Kuru|user talk page on Commons]].
Thank you --D-Kuru (talk) 14:37, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
