Hi - didn't mean to sound harsh or anything (and I apologize if I did); I appreciate your note. It is always useful to abide by WP:NOR and WP:RS in contentious articles such as these. This is especially true since (in my opinion) Palestinian defamation is common on Wikipedia just due to the fact that editors comfortable with defamation outnumber those who aren't!! Anyway, I look forward to your edits. One more thing, make sure your edits belong in the appropriate article. For example, edits that have to do with politics and history of the peace process may be more suitable in political articles such as Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Al-Aqsa Intifada, Palestinian National Authority and the like. The Palestinian people article is meant to be a non-politicized article about the history and culture of a people without the political debate. Of course, this is easier typed than done. user talk with angela

Question

Hi Angela. Thanks again for all your help. I have now made some progress in working on the NCDD wiki. I was wondering, is there some way that I could arrange to have admin privileges? Also, i was wondering, is there some way to prevent changes to the wiki by other users, at least until I have managed to finish some of the initial work? Obviously, at some point it will be open to editing by many others, but I would like to hold off on group editing, , especially by general users, for the time being, until it is somewhat ready for editing. So i appreciate it.

By the way, how worried should I be about random users finding it? I have a feeling that at some point Google may pick it up, since it is on wikia. Are there any general wiki link pages which currently link to it? I ask only because like I said, I feel it's not quite ready for open editing just yet.

By the way, when you reply, you can reply here, but could you please leave a note on my talk page, to let me know you have replied? Also, in general, one of the best ways to reach me is by leaving a notemy talk page at wikipedia, letting me know to check the talk page somewhere else. Thanks for all your help. I appreciate it. --Sm8900 01:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

I've replied at w:c:ncdd:User talk:Sm8900. Angela talk 13:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Because that wiki is only about Wikimedia projects. The list was moved to w:c:wikis:List of Wikia wikis. Angela talk 17:53, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi Angela. just want to say thanks for setting up my admin rights. Appreciate it. Regarding the access for other users, you're right; these wikis should be accessible for other users. however, the concern which i expressed was based on one which arose in the original NCDD wiki. Back there, it was thought that the main text of important pages should be somewhat protected, with a sandbox area for uses by the general public. However, the ability of wikia to save previous revisions makes this somewhat unnecessary. So I appreciate it.
By the way, re the message by Slade above, I have a question. Sorry to sound a bit abstruse, or to add another layer to this. however, I'm a little amazed by all this. i had no idea there was another site called wikis, indexing all of these. I know one thing we have plenty of is catalogs. However, what would be the place to find a list of all domains related to wikia?
I have already found wikipedia, wikisource, wikibooks, wikiversity, etc, obviously, since those are linked to the main page of wikipedia. I also now there is wikis, wikia, and the wikia index, as well as nubio. Are there others? i hate to ask such a pesky question, but if I can find just one definitive index, that should settle it. I appreciate it. thanks. --Sm8900 21:05, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
btw, never mind, I'll look on Wikipedia. if there's any more inclusive source, I'd appreciate if you could let me know. however, no big deal. thanks. --Sm8900 21:55, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
There are many thousands of different wikis. For a list of the 2300 Wikia hosts, see List of Wikia. The Wikimedia projects are amongst the most well known, including Wikipedia, but they also host the projects listed at wikimedia.org. Some of the more popular wikis that are not part of Wikimedia or Wikia are listed at Wikipedia:List of wikis. Angela talk 00:06, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
that sounds good. appreciate it. See you. --Sm8900 16:51, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

At this moment, a massive conflict is breaking out at the following page, in an arbitration proceeding, at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Allegations of apartheid/Workshop, a subpage of Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Allegations_of_apartheid.

A group of editors has been developing an article entitled Alegations of Israeli apartheid."

In response, a group of more even-handed editors attempted to build a set of article detailing and highlighting alleged "apartheid" in other countries.

In response the editors of the Israel-apartheid article are now accusing the editors who worked on articles about all the other countries of POV, when it is the editors of the Israel article who are most guilty of a warped unfair POV focus on one country to the exclusion of others.

Currently, the ArbCom case has degenenerated to accusation and counter-accusation. This was inevitable, sicne ArbCom refuses to address cointent dispute, and only addresses user conduct, forcing even well-meaning, goodfaith editors to level accusations at each other.

Your help is vitally needed. Please go to this proceeding and insert your comments indicating support for those who seek to preserve balance at Wikipedia by applying this method of inquiry equally, by applying the "aparetheid" analigy to a variety of countries equally, instead of only to Israel.

If you wish, you may also demand that ArbCom or some other body address content disputes, so that this cycle of accusation and counter-accusation will not remaion the only real means of addressing disputes.

Thank you. --Steve, Sm8900 03:01, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

article talk text

Hi.. I'm striking out my whole response so that no one has to get too worried about it. conisder it struck from the record. feel free to all do whatever the heck you want. thanks. --Steve, Sm8900 (talk) 15:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

::sorry, we're not creating any article called "Semite." Please don;t come here with any sweeping pronouncements or huge oratory. i'm referring to both of you. CasuaklObserver, why are you telling us what the political (Zionist) forces did or did not do? You seem like a pretty positive, humble guy. I like your overall attitude. however, you really need to think about whether any article on a single intellectual concept should require such a broad, layered justification. this is an encylopedia, not a righter of historical wrongs.

Also, if the word anti-Semitism means being anti-Jewish, then that's the way things will stay around here. by your own admission, that is the most common and prevalent usage, rightly or wrongly.
Also, this collaboration is not a group process for circumventing the normal article creation process. so any creative ideas can be discussed here. however we have extremely low ability to adovcate for an article, or for any particular edit. we are willing to discuss, address or consider any issue you may care to raise. however, please don't think that addressing something here means that we will be able to provide a consensus which would address an issue if it's never been raised in normal forums or processes.
I do appreciate your hearing your overall positive approach, and look forward to exahnging further ideas. thanks. --Steve, Sm8900 (talk) 15:22, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello Sm8900,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
