Wikigate[edit]

  • It's not that we shouldn't have a discussion of "Wikigate" here; it's that I think it should be in Wikipedia space, not Main article space. I think there's already some sort of discussion linked off the Marty Meehan talk page, or at least they could direct you to it. So, no offense taken by the AFD, I hope. It's just that we should be cautious about using wikipedia to popularize a word, rather than to report it. Also, there have already been several wiki "scandals", and there will no doubt be many more. So, if the phrase is popularized, it will soon be wholly ambiguous. Derex 22:23, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • No offense taken by the AFD. Having read more about current wikipedia conventions, my original post was a classic newcomer mistake and ripe for AFD, so thanks for catching it. Now that I have done some more research I do think "wikigate" will be looked back upon as an important concept, but given the other editor's opinions maybe it is too new right now. --Smarbin 03:04, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
