October 2016[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Nostradamus, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. clpo13(talk) 23:04, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Clpo13. Apologies regarding the removal of the comments made on the Nostradamus group. In the time I have been linked to the Wikipedia Nostradamus page, numerous deletions and corrections have been made by other authors. These have usually been on the grounds of the remarks being offensive and false. Likewise, the comments I removed tonight, (which had been there a while, without anyone bothering themselves to undo this) are totally untrue; deeply insulting and give a very bad impression of the work of the Yahoo Research group. One of the people cited in the deleted comments, has sadly since died and is therefore not in a position to defend themselves. The person believed to have posted the abuse, has received bans from Wikipedia for trolling; being abuse and making unfair accusations. I looked to remove 'all' the comments in the section, (which was believed to have been created in the first place by the fore-mentioned troll). I did so, as to try to be fair to everyone involved. The abusive comments that began the discussion in that section, mention 'me' by name and as they have no basis, are indeed slanderous! They are most certainly not 'legitimate' in the sense of accuracy. I shall, however, not remove these again and may well look instead to only use resources outside of Wikipedia in future and not get involved in any future discussions on this website! I see what you mean. I'm surprised the comments have stood so long, actually. Since discussion on that topic is still fairly recent, I'll redact the offending parts of the original post. clpo13(talk) 22:45, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that. I've removed the whole thing. I don't think there was anything salvageable from the original post and some of what was said was clearly defamatory. I apologize for not looking closer at your removal earlier. clpo13(talk) 22:52, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks Clpo13. Apologies that I got a bit sharp over this, it was just that I was upset it had remained on the site so long and the person who did this is a repeatable banned member of Wikipedia. But I'm delighted that you have removed this; so a very big thank you! Smithsurf (talk) 01:25, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
