The article Violence, Dominance and Stereotypes in Masculinity has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Written like an essay. Adds nothing not already present in other articles.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 02:08, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, I received a notification about this. I have to agree with El cid, el campeador in that this is more of an essay than anything else. As far as the general topic itself goes, there are articles with similar topics such as toxic masculinity and Social dominance theory (specifically Social_dominance_theory#Biological_Sex_and_Dominance), to name a few. However something to be careful about with titles is that something like the one you used can make something seem like more of an essay and can actually come across like you're writing with a specific opinion or bias on the topic, even if this isn't the case. You also want to make sure that you avoid writing in a persuasive tone, as this can also make your work seem like it's trying to argue a specific viewpoint and can also make the content seem more like an essay. I think that you have good ideas here, but it needs work and it's not really something that would need its own article in its current format. I would recommend working on sourcing and fleshing out the section in the social dominance theory that deals with biological sex and social dominance, since that looks to be fairly close to your topic. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Violence, dominance and stereotypes in masculinity is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Violence, dominance and stereotypes in masculinity until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. The Mighty Glen (talk) 06:50, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
