Need your Help[edit]

I need support in editing the page for Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh from Pakistani-Wikipedians. The page concludes Pakistans link to 9/11 using information from Indian press and much information in that page is without proper references. The page says that ISI gives money to Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and Sheikh then wired the money to Atta. I have checked some of the references on that page and information in the references is different from what is mentioned in it. I will appreciate any help because I have very less free time these days... Faisal 16:59, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't merge. The Television and radio stations in Pakistan must have sepearate pages. Pakistan with five regional languages and 165 million people will have hundreds of radio and television stations. The online radio stations are also becaming easier and cheaper to maintain, soon people will adding these channels also. The mass media is exploding and one page will not be enough. We must have seperate pages:

List of Television Stations of Pakistan
List of Radio Stations of Pakistan

Image Tagging for Image:Indus.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Indus.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Help?[edit]

Will you consider commenting on some AfD nominations and merge-delete propositions that I believe are an attempt to drive off a good editor? (OK, she's my wife. But she's exhausted by this fight; her articles are written in good faith and this editor is making a mockery of WP.)

India -> India + Pakistan + Bangladesh[edit]

I and User:Rama's Arrow were discussing [1] linkage of pages to India when refer to pre-1947 India (undivided India). Please have a look at discussion, and comment. You can also invite user interested in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Following is statement to start:

India after 1947 consists of three countries, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. When we use word India, in articles, refereeing to whole India, links are such that they bring us to present day India (Republic of India), reducing size of pre-1947 India considerably. Is it possible that when we refer to pre-1947 India we use a term which encompasses whole India not just present day India? Please comment.

Following are suggestions:

Connecticut template[edit]

I created redirects to Connecticut today for Southwestern Connecticut, Inland Connecticut, Coastal Connecticut, to de-redlink them. I don't mind writing up the articles but I'm confused on something--I'm from CT originally, I can do up something nice for Coastal--easy enough for that. But to me, growing up in Bridgeport and Stratford, "inland" was simply anything not directly on LI sound. Do we really need that as a category/region? It's kind of an oxymoron for a coastal state. As for southwestern, I can write that up as well, as it really should be seperate from the "Gold Coast".

Thoughts on getting rid of "Inland Connecticut" as a category from the template and simply leaving it as a redirect back to Connecticut? If no one objects in a few days I'll just remove it. I posted this on Template_talk:Connecticut as well. rootology (T) 08:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Info on Islamophobic group[edit]

Hello,

What follows are the thoughts, expressed in their own words, and in the 'protest signs', of the obscure, very small, but very vocal 'activist group' known as "Protest Warrior".

"What's becoming clear is how the religion of Islam is addicted to war and mayhem. Not a radical minority, not a rogue sect, but its very essence is about submission and sacrifice and proving your worth by worshipping death in this life to gain a paradise of orgies and drunkenness. Their entire history is of warfare, and any accomplishments of their so-called Golden Age has been proven to be merely parasitic off the cultures they've conquered and reduced to dhimmi servitude. That every country under sharia is corrupt, belligerent, desolate and barbaric obviously gives them no pause, except to constantly drive them into further psychotic rage as they refuse to ever accept any responsibility for their conditions. They are akin to the powers in Orwell's 1984; there must always be an enemy. It's no surprise that women are treated like property in these countries as that's the only way Muslim men can feed their egos, to dominate others rather than ever actually produce something."

Kfir Alfia and Alan Lipton, founders of "Protest Warrior"

Their 'protest signs'...

Signs

I thought you might be interested in this group's sentiments. They are currently very actively editing their own article on Wiki and there is a lot of 'group think'. Perhaps you might want to become involved in the editing and discussion process on that page. If you do, please don't vandalize, and try to remain civil. Should you not want to involve youself, please forgive my intrusion.

Copy/paste move[edit]

Howdy, I came across the page Haditha massacre, which you created by copy/pasting information from the Haditha killings article. Unfortunately this is not the recommended way to perform such a move. Copy/pasting has the side-effect of breaking the terms of the GFDL, the license which Wikipedia is available under, as it removes author credit from the history of the article. I've reverted the move for now but if you still wish it to go ahead, please see Wikipedia:How to move a page. If you've any questions, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. re: Shady Glen deletion[edit]

Why was Shady Glen deleted? And without any debate or discussion??? -Sohailstyle 17:42, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I didn't see anything that met WP:CORP, and therefore it lacked a notability assertion (A7 speedy deletion). Local restaurants are usually written up at one point or another in its local newspaper; is there any evidence this restaurant is notable outside of Manchester? Cheers, Fang Aili talk 17:46, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Notability assertion? There was no claim that it was a hugely popular restaurant or known widely outside Manchester. You said that restaurants are usually written about in their LOCAL newspaper, the reference I put was from the Hartford Courant, the state's main newspaper and not from the Journal Inquirer, which is the regional newspaper. I don't really understand why it was deleted, I simple created it to give it space on Wikipedia as a reference for future surfers. Perhaps, if there wss something not accordance with the Wikipedia Guidelines, then it would have been more proper to have a discussion as wer having now, thanks. 17:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok, well let's go over WP:CORP. The primary criterion is "A topic is notable if it has been the subject of non-trivial coverage by two or more published works." I do realize that WP:CORP is a guideline and not a rule, but I just didn't see a notability assertion in the article. Articles should answer the question, "why does this matter?" --Fang Aili talk 18:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I restored it. This is a pretty grey area. I noticed that a famous local restaurant in my town has an article too (Kopp's), and there's no indication it has any notability outside of Milwaukee. Anyways, I don't feel like arguing about this, and it is a pretty well-written article. :) Cheers, Fang Aili talk 18:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beauties and PR

If you were lucky enough to watch that episode on Nadia Khan's show on Geo TV where Sonia Ahmed and Mahleej Sarkari were invited, you'd know that the Miss Pakistan World pageant is really the hype. At least, when it comes to controversies, the organiser know where to bring the PR campaign. Their serious POV edits which have been proven to be made by the organisers and associates of the pageant are under debate at the article's deletion debate.

Follow-up on the last issue

In the last issue, we discussed about the sectarian issues that Pakistani articles were prone to. For an update, an advocate of the Shi'a faith and its prominent inclusion into the articles, LahoreKid has been banned for an indefinite period. In the process, a citation review project page was created for providing editors with a third-opinion on vague references.

For a in-depth coverage, read the talks here. Some news issues will be addressed shortly and new activities like contests and quizzes would be announced shortly as well.

Talking of sects...

I don't want to sound like a separatist, if I say that for the past few weeks the highest number of edits on anything related to Pakistan have been on articles that concerned Baluchistan. From major editions to the article on Quetta to the 1935 Balochistan earthquake tragedy.

In other news: It is now important for editors to look into the logistics section for gaining or providing support for various things in the article such as graphics or copy-editing. So, if you need copy-editing of an article, or your article lacks a picture, please consult at this page.

  • Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page.

Hello Sohailstyle,

I've just received a message regarding Image:DP logo.gif, an image you uploaded in 2006, as it has no fair use rationale. You may want to address the issue if you don't want it to be deleted. Thanks and regards, Korg (talk) 16:14, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a fair use rationale,[2] but please amend it if need be. Thanks, Korg (talk) 16:42, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:HUM TV.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:HUM TV.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:52, 18 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 02:52, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Anwar Naseem, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Dr. Anwar Naseem. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:53, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Zayed Future Energy Prize has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable award, and written with so much promotion there's little salvageable anyway.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
