Welcome to the 2024 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2024 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor you should be able to advance to at least the second round, improving your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close on 31 January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. Nomination of Deșteptarea (trade union) for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Deșteptarea (trade union) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deșteptarea (trade union) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

I would like to use thus opportunity to give Soman their long overdue nomination for Editor of the Week for their prolific article creation, especially on articles related to organized labor and left wing politics, as well as biographies. Ever since they joined Wikipedia Soman has written almost 5.000 articles. Soman's articles are always well referenced with reliable sources and are a pleasure to read. Many of Soman's article creations are featured on the "Did you know...." section of the Main Page, with over 700 of Soman's articles having been featured on DYK. They are always civil when interacting with others, especially when reviewing other DYK nominations.
