Article sourcing

[edit]

Re this: we need to have reliable sources to prove notability; otherwise, we are publishing original research. These are core policies on Wikipedia--please familiarize yourself with them. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 02:09, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Night Before Christmas (1941 film) User:Koavf has used merge as a curious way around WP:Prod. On scores of articles. WP:Preserve. This has got to be taken to a higher level. 7&6=thirteen () 13:19, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
These are (1) content disputes that (2) should be addressed on the talk page and (3) should be the subject of a deletion nomination (if that is where you intend to go), and (4) not a unilateral merger. 7&6=thirteen () 16:48, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
7&6=thirteen, As I have said many times, I don't think they should be deleted. Why do you keep on willfully mischaracterizing me? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 08:19, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As I have mentioned to you several times, we cannot have unsourced articles. Why do you keep on reinserting this unverifiable information into Wikipedia? Why do you refuse to post to WT:ANIMATION or abide by the users there advocating redirection? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:05, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Have you looked at any of the policy pages I have recommended? Why do you think that we can have unsourced, unverifiable articles on Wikipedia? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:16, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Look, you have to stop just reverting. Please see the above pages and also WP:3RR. We cannot have unsourced articles: I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative "I heard it somewhere" pseudo information is to be tagged with a "needs a cite" tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons. – Jimbo Wales, 16 May 2006 [1] Please also see WP:ATD-R: "If the change is disputed, an attempt should be made to reach a consensus before restoring the redirect." I am begging you to please actually try to collaborate and I have shown you where to do it (WT:ANIMATION) and you insist on not discussing, being willfully ignorant, and refusing to abide by the most basic policies here. You have to stop this. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 03:00, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Linguist111my talk page 23:24, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did at List of I Am Weasel episodes. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you think that the page should be deleted, please read Wikipedia:How to delete a page. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

ArbCom 2019 election voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for persistently making disruptive edits. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ad Orientem (talk) 00:35, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Your editing history is highly disruptive, including edit warring, repeatedly adding poorly or completely unsourced material, and personal attacks on other editors. All of which despite repeated efforts to reach out to you and even warnings as evidenced by your talk page. As far as I can tell you have not responded once. This is a collaborative project and that will not do. If this pattern of behavior resumes after your current block expires, the next one is likely to be indefinite. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:40, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I'm very sorry for editing The Midnight Snack and Tom & Jerry Kids, I'm never do it again.

Decline reason:

I'm sorry, but I cannot unblock you. You've quite missed the point. It is not what you edited but your edit warring, repeatedly adding poorly or completely unsourced material, and personal attacks on other editors. Please see our policy on edit warring. In the event of a content dispute, editors are required to stop reverting, discuss, and seek consensus among editors on the relevant talk page. If discussions reach an impasse, editors can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution.

Points to ponder:

Edit warring is wrong even if one is right.
WP:CIVIL is one of the Five Pillars.
"All content must be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking."

To be unblocked, you must affirm an understanding of all of this, and what not to do, and what to do when in a content dispute. Please tell us, in your own words, what it all means. Thanks, -- Deepfriedokra 02:07, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SonicClub, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

File permission problem with File:Rocket J. Squirrel.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Rocket J. Squirrel.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:07, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
