Some stroopwafels for you!

[edit]
Loving all your good work on South Asian history! It's a sorely neglected area and I'm very grateful to see someone with knowledge of the subject taking it up. — Moriwen (talk) 14:09, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Moriwen! Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 14:20, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

Hello

I have slowly started returning to Wikipedia and looking back at m past edits. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry if I ever before was overall aggressive, or rude, or just being a jerk. I, like anyone else, have my own biases and sometimes get overly heated on matters. I hope I never was that bad with you, but I feel as if I was at least, putting it generously for myself, irrational with you. So sorry if I ever was.

Wish you the best :) CanadianSingh1469 (talk) 21:13, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CanadianSingh1469: No worries, we all make mistakes, I've definitely made my fair share of them. Good luck in your future editing endeavours. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 21:23, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. You too :) CanadianSingh1469 (talk) 04:40, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @Noorullah21, let's see what happens next with the SPI. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 00:47, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Battle for Mangal

[edit]

Do not delete content, including sources, from an article while it is undergoing the AfD process. Let the facts speak for themselves. Such deletions could be viewed as vandalism, gaming the system, or other unseemly conduct, which is prohibited. That is probably not what you had in mind, but such actions could be construed as trying to make the article appear to fit your delete !vote instead of actions meant to improve it. Incidentally, how did the earlier AfD for that same article wind up being the first thing you edited here after creating your talk page? Doczilla Ohhhhhh, no! 06:22, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Check out this user

[edit]

Check out this user, User:Normstahlie made just a day ago and began editing on the Mahmud of Ghazni page after I removed poorly sourced content. Seems like a certain someone we might know, thoughts? They even edited pages immediately like the Ghurid invasion of Bengal.

[1] [2] [3] Noorullah (talk) 15:07, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Noorullah21, truth be told, I really don't know much at all about Afghan history or the subject matter at hand (Ghazni) so I don't think I'd be able to weigh in here. From what I know about who I think you're referring to, his primary goal is to aggrandize the Sikhs and highlight their victories against Afghans, and I've also seen him aggrandize the British in Anglo-Afghan conflicts, but he also seems to harbour a similar amount of disdain for non-Sikh Indian groups (Rajputs, Marathas) so I don't think HB would make an edit like this-[4]. But in all honesty, I really don't have much knowledge on medieval era Indian/Afghan warfare. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 15:23, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair, just seeing your input on it. Noorullah (talk) 15:32, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to assume bad faith when dealing with other editors, as you did at Vaisakhi, you may be blocked from editing. Assume that they are here to improve rather than harm Wikipedia. Comments such as, "Rv nonsense egregious pov pushing", do not follow these guidelines. @SunnyG580, I misread your version of the article and thought it said that Vaisakhi began in 1699. My apologies. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 19:38, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for deletion

[edit]

Hi @Southasianhistorian8, can you check if these articles are ok for wikipedia or else nominate them for deletion Battle of Jammu (1808) (no sources), Battle of Guler (1696) (3 sources that too unreliable), First Battle of Anandpur (1704) (single source is used), First siege of Anandpur (no notablity, title too is invented) and Hill States–Sikh wars and Conquest of Mandalgarh (no reliable history source used). I hope this would help regards. NorthSiderRock (talk) 12:53, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've noticed the removal of your response to me. You've made baseless claims that I've used AI models *chuckle*. Considering I've made 10+ articles and been on here for 2.5 years, this is utterly hilarious and I am more than happy for you to bring Admins in and we can sort all these issues out.

Furthermore, you used heavy bias i.e. against the World Sikh Organisation through you're edits, which also led to you remove the content from the article of Anti-Sikh Sentiment in Canada which was really ridiculous.

You claim, I made things up with my sources ? Weirdly, it has only been yourself who has had an issue with my edits since my time on Wikipedia. Wiki articles I've created with hundreds of thousands of views but "I make up things with my sources". Even one of them which was nominated for deletion, was overwhelmingly voted in favour to keep. I suggest you take that outrageous comment back.

I am not saying what articles you can't or cannot edit, it's the specific association with Sikh articles and constant negative editing and un-justifiable editing which is of huge concern.

The issue and conflict is, you constantly made edits on Hinduism in Canada particularly to the section, "Attacks on Hindu community" in a favourable light.

We can put the issue the rest, if not lets sort through the admins and I'll present my evidence. Jattlife121 (talk) 13:12, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Komagata Maru incident of 1914 is a poignant example of racial discrimination and xenophobia in early 20th-century Canada.
The Canadian government’s refusal to allow the ship’s passengers to land was a manifestation of the broader racial prejudices of the time.
acknowledging the grave injustices faced by the passengers and marking an official recognition of this dark chapter in Canadian history
During the mid-20th century, Sikhs in Canada faced pervasive racism and discrimination, reflecting the broader challenges of immigrant communities in a society that was often unwelcoming to visible minorities. Despite their contributions to the country,
This event was deeply intertwined with the broader context of anti-Sikh sentiment in Canada, where Sikhs, along with other South Asian immigrants, were subjected to racism, exclusionary immigration policies, and social marginalization.
These students have faced online harassment and discrimination, exacerbating their vulnerability and marginalization in Canadian society.
These instances underscore the persistent challenges Sikhs face in Canada, from historical prejudices to modern-day discrimination
Who are you kidding? This is very obviously AI generated language. I'd be willing to bet good money that most others would agree. Happy to have admins examine this.
In the section "1985 Air India Flight 182 aftermath", you falsely included claims of Sikh businesses being boycotted, and temples being targets of vandalism and arson-[5] even though the source you provided made no such claim.
Here, you falsely claimed that Transport Canada made offensive lyrics about Sikhs, even though the source you provided had zero mentions of the word "Sikh".
Your original version of the article claimed that "More recently, anti-Sikh sentiment has surfaced on social media, particularly targeting international students from India." even though the sources you provided made no specific mentions or labels of anti Sikh sentiment.
The original version of the article you made was poorly sourced, AI generated to a large extent, literally made incidents up, and inundated points that were not supported by sources. And instead of engaging with points on the talk page, you decided to harass me on my t/p and make personal attacks against me. If you have any reservations regarding my conduct, feel free to go to admins, if you have issues with my edits on the article, bring it up on the t/p there.
