"Suspicious"

[edit]

{{editprotected}} Add suspici for "suspicious", "suspicion" and to allow the typo "suspicius". mechamind90 21:58, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that user names with these words are above suspicion for being problematic. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:54, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then what is spic for? Whether or not suspicious is suspicious, it's not a hard-block worthy username. mechamind90 18:41, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  1. spic appears to be a racial slur, at least according to what Kurt Shaped Box said when (s)he added it to the black list.
  2. Some of these accounts were blocked - Abovesuspicion, Chocolate makes a suspicious shirt and PPG blocks any accounts she finds suspicious, even if not me. as sockpuppets; Jesuspicious as a user name violation, probably due to the "Jesus" in the name; Dontbesuspicious as a vandalism-only account. I also think that Mr.suspiciouspants (who had only made one edit, to Diarrhea) should also have been blocked.
  3. Highly.suspicious, Iamnotbeingsuspicious111 and Vocalsofsuspiciona have never edited, so they wouldn't have shown up on WP:UAA/BOT under this entry.
  4. I think that the few user names left don't represent a significant issue - chances are that any entry will occasionally have false positives (I once found a false positive for "troll"
The other question here, is whether or not the word "suspicious" is, in fact, suspicious. I believe that Abovesuspicion is the sort of name which clearly isn't; Mr.suspiciouspants suggests certain sorts of edits, which this user had made; PPG blocks any accounts she finds suspicious, even if not me. is a personal attack; and Jesuspicious is potentially insulting to Christians. For a LOW_CONFIDENCE,WAIT_TILL_EDIT entry, I think that 1 in 3 is high enough to justify it being reported. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 06:20, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So it sounds like Jesus would be overlooked as it intersects with suspicious? mechamind90 02:02, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
According to User:HBC NameWatcherBot#Technical info, "It will examine each new user one time by first removing any string from the name that are found in the white list"; the "sus" of Jesus is overlapping with the word "suspicious", meaning that it wouldn't have appeared on WP:UAA/BOT had this request been fulfilled. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:05, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would also like to point out that being listed at WP:UAA/BOT is no guarantee of being blocked. Of 47 names listed on Monday, only 25 were blocked; of these 25, 6 blocks were given reasons which have nothing to do with the user names. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:25, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Addition

[edit]

{{editprotected}} 'Cocktail' should be added to the whitelist because it matches the string 'cock' that is on the blacklist, but is not rude. - EdoDodo talk 16:46, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
