Speedy Deletion of Kumar Gaurav (Entrepreneur)

Hi i am not related to this person at any cause, neither i am paid to do so but what was the reason for the deletion of the page as i am a regular contributor — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sn6054884 (talkcontribs) 10:58, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

  • Blocked your and many of your sock accounts, obviously you're here to promote your clients while violating our terms of service, maybe one of my talk page stalkers will be able to go through the many advertorials from the sock farm, especially now that I can copy paste this message in my edit summary! —SpacemanSpiff 11:26, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

Sourcing problems

Hi, I am having problems explaining sourcing to Nittavinoda at Rajendra Chola I and Ripapart at Veerapandiya Kattabomman. Neither appear to be accepting that I am applying long-standing community consensus, in the first case regarding Raj era sources and in the second regarding the weight we attach to movie depictions. Perhaps I am wrong but I doubt it. - Sitush (talk) 12:19, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Spaceman, User Sitush is just thrusting his opinion about colonial era references. The article in question is related to Chola dynasty/monarchs. Most of the articles on Cholas are riding on Sastri's work which are based solely on inscriptions and also a colonial era work. Moreover I have not quoted any inscription rather have only included the interpretation of historians. No where have I said something like 'Tirumagal pola' or prasasti. As regard to the consensus, For example, User regentspark has accepted the evidence for article Velir based on inscription [1] if it was being inferred by a historian like Sastri. Sitush has also been fighting with me in the Velir article and has now started stalking my edits and I have to say he seems bent on bullying me. Nittavinoda (talk) 12:29, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
  • While Sastri would be an acceptable source, this edit isn't based on Nilakanta Sastri, it's based on a dated translation (primary source). You've got to use secondary sources that don't need your interpretation. —SpacemanSpiff 12:33, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi Spaceman, I believe you're mistaken. This is a secondary source. It is the work of historian V. Rangacharya. (with Notes and References). It is not a translation. For example it you would not find something like who, while his heart rejoiced that like the goddess of fortune, the goddess of great earth had also become his great wife- during his long life when he talks about Rajaraja's inscriptions or prasasti. Thanks Nittavinoda (talk) 12:45, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
That's nothing more than a 1915 translation of inscriptions and obviously a very dated book, so preference should be given to modern sources, see WP:HISTRS. —SpacemanSpiff 12:55, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
I am adding secondary and more recent sources that corroborate the statements. Thanks Nittavinoda (talk) 14:23, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
You are, using a recent secondary source that is basically quoting the 1915 source. And you're citing the wrong pages etc. However, I've opened a discussion thread at the article talk page because I don't think the inscriptional quotes are needed anyway. - Sitush (talk) 14:33, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

Another propoganda

Hey, can you please have a look at the edits of Realphi. Thanks in advance. Capankajsmilyo (talk) 03:08, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Pankaj, unless you tell me what the problems are, I can't figure anything out. As for this particular user, a few other admins have blocked/warned before, so it's best if you bring it up with them as they know the history of the account, unlike me. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 10:18, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

Possible sock of Sandhya2012

Hello SpacemanSpiff, can you please take a look at Alokmarina. The user was registered a week after you blocked Sandhya2012, editing in the same area and creating the same kind of article. His first edit was to create Karanjeet Saluja which look exactly same as Sandhya2012's article Thodi Thodi Si Manmaaniyan e.g. same use of external links and language. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 08:28, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

  • @GSS-1987:Definitely belonging to the same group, the old account claimed that one of the other accounts I blocked was not a sock but a "colleague". I'll block this, but you may want to file a discussion at WP:COIN so that all problematic edits are identified. —SpacemanSpiff 11:31, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
Perfect, I alraedy nominated a few of their article for deletion and for sure will look forward to file a discussion at WP:COIN. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 12:06, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

Blocked editor Aditya Mani Tripathi

Hello. Three CU-confirmed socks of theirs (see Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Aditya Mani Tripathi ) have been blocked so far, so may I suggest a far longer block than a week? - Tom | Thomas.W talk 19:08, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Think it's worth opening an SPI to find sleeper accounts? Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 15:14, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

  • I think every one of their targets is currently semi-protected (unless they've created some new articles for the journals or imprints) -- they mostly hang around the various OMICS group stuff and Beall's article. Also, a reason why (if I'm active on Wikipedia) I typically catch the socks within a day or two of creation. Anyway, if you think there may be more, then the right SPI would be Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Scholarscentral, the second group of socks related to Future Science Group is also listed under that -- Laura Donner or something like that if I remember correctly. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 16:14, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

  • I don't think it's a sock of LH/JP, he didn't have any interest in Assamese films, he was mostly looking to promote his family and ancestry by uploading and using those pictures here. Besides, I guess this party could get a few similar drum rollers. —SpacemanSpiff 11:26, 28 March 2018 (UTC)r

AfD help

Hi. Using the Curation tool, I nominated an article for deletion, but it didn't transclude properly. Could you please take a look and do what needs to be done to fix it? Thanks. Here's the link: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zoee. The earlier AfD had nothing to do with this subject, so I'm not sure how to handle it, since it isn't truly a second nom. Onel5969 TT me 19:11, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

  • @Onel5969:, I have no idea what's going on there and I'm not technically savvy enough to figure it out, my suggestion would be to check on this at VPT and undo your edit at Zoee and then use Twinkle to start a file an AfD, I've never used the page curation tool, so no idea what it does either. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 00:32, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) @Onel5969 and SpacemanSpiff: Its a 'feature'. It doesn't know how to handle Afds other than the first. One of many reasons that I don't use it. — JJMC89(T·C) 03:46, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
@JJMC89: I haven't yet tried most (if not all) of the Wikipedia enhancements/tools introduced over the past couple of years, so I'm lagging behind on this; thanks for the explanation, another reason why being behind the times causes me less pain! cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 04:01, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks to both of you. Now that I know that, I'll simply review the article using the curate tool, then if I feel it's warranted I'll use Twinkle to nominate. Onel5969 TT me 11:50, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

puppettry

Is there someone in particular that you suspect here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DGG (talkcontribs)

  • @DGG: I checked a few articles and on different ones a different account comes by to help after this account creates an article. On Samten Bhutia, it is Eleesat (whose editing pattern including the kind of copyvios) is very similar to this one, there's also Mrf.umeshwiki on Samir Upadhyay and the IP socking on at least two articles that I deleted yesterday where the IP socks were used to remove tags. I wasn't sure if it was sock or meat puppetry, so I asked the user there. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 00:29, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
ran ckuser, but it was of no assistance. DGG ( talk ) 00:19, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
Oh well, it's simple meat puppetry then, but the promo aspect shouldn't be ignored, I'll look into it if it continues. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 03:45, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
