Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Dear Sphongophorus: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes. Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advise, please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into you signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!

I've noticed that you created a page on Entomobryidae. Do you know about wikipedia's sister project wikispecies? You might like to get involved :-) Grandwazir 16:20, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is this in addition to having this information in the main Wiki pages or is there a shift to move everything to wikispecies? Sphongophorus 16:39, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Would you mind giving me some help as to how to link up my pages with others (i.e. the Entomobryidae needs to be linked to the page on Collembola). Once I know how to do this, I will feel more comfortable adding additonal pages on families I have information on. Sphongophorus 21:53, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To link pages you can just type {{article name}} and it will create a link to that article. You might also want to place these in various catagories as well. There is already an advanced template system on wikispecies to handle species trees but I don't think there is one on wikipedia yet. Grandwazir 14:35, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your wiki markup is correct for your picture by the way, just actual image doesn't exist on wikipedia yet. You can upload a file here. Grandwazir 16:24, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if articles from wikispecies are merged back into wikipedia or not, sorry. As far as I know the two projects are seperate. Grandwazir 17:47, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why dont you consider adding a link to the wikispecies article? All the help you need is here, this link will clarify all your doubts :) : vineeth 18:29, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Springtails

[edit]

I know your last contribution here was almost two years ago, but in case you still visit Wikipedia, could you look at the recent debate about springtail taxonomy? Thanks, Yerpo (talk) 08:05, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
