Permalinks[edit]

Nice work! I was thinking about adding examples from our websites. The permalink thing is a real problem. I guess we even have tried to solve it with Wikidata and honestly I am not sure how to do that using Wikidata. I would always use the Permanent link button on the project, but I guess most people don't even see that. So for example, to share the entry on Rembrandt, you can add the title of the entry behind the full url of the project -- in our case here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rembrandt, but you can also use the Permanent link for it, which (today) is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rembrandt&oldid=739356384. This is obviously a different entry for the Dutch version, which is here: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rembrandt_van_Rijn, and so on. So if you wanted to share those entries on Facebook for example, those are urls to use. Often a website will have share buttons but you can't see the url. So you first have to share it to copy the resulting link, which is more than weird. I guess there is a whole school of thinking about permalinks, but of course if we want to link out to some collection item, then ideally we want the form "website" + "/" + "inventory number". External identifiers[edit]

Lots of websites are linking out to Wikipedia for artists, so when you click on a page about an artist, their bio might include a link out to Wikipedia. That's great, but it would be even better if they included other external identifiers, such as the Getty ULAN id. This makes matching through Wikidata much easier for us and also expands the number of potential Wikimedia projects (such as other language wikis or Commons) where we have info on that specific artist. The same is true when it comes to artworks. So if they have collaborations with local heritage organisations who also reasearch their holdings, than it would be nice (for all of the same reasons as for artists) to have that identifier (e.g. RKDimages).
