why Spurergs (talk) 06:00, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because the Wikipedia article for Marine reptiles is not the place for you to introduce yourself. This is an encyclopedia, not a social media website. miranda :3 06:05, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can't stop anybody from doing anything, and your short time here hasn't been very considerate of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Maybe consider reading up on them before making any more edits to the site. miranda :3 06:42, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Spurergs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because i don't know why it is being deleted this guy just hates me for whatever reason should be fired --Spurergs (talk) 06:36, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Spurergs, assuming that what you wrote on your user page is true, you are clearly having a rough time, and I have every sympathy for you. Not only are you having an unhappy time in real life, but when you try to escape from your problems into Wikipedia, you get a negative reception, which must be very discouraging. However, you can get a better experience of being a Wikipedia editor by working at doing things which will be seen by other editors as positive. For example, don't do the kind of thing that you did at Maple Hill, Bruce County, Ontario, which will be seen as just vandalism. Don't do things like accusing others of hating you; I don't suppose anyone here hates you. (In fact anyone who is so over sensitive as to hate someone on the basis of the very small amount that you have done is unlikely to last long on Wikipedia, because we get far bigger and worse things all the time.) Instead, try to find small improvements you can make to articles, and when people post messages to you, try to respond in a friendly way. Unfortunately, in a project where anyone can contribute, there will at times be people who are less friendly than they could be, sometimes because they are just not nice people, sometimes because they are perfectly decent people but happen to misjudge a situation; either way, try to remember that it's just someone on the internet who doesn't actually know you, and whatever they say is not worth taking personally.
Your user page was nominated for speedy deletion quite a while ago, but the nomination has still neither been accepted or declined. I can't know for certain, but I think that is likely to be because every administrator who has reviewed it has been unwilling to decline the nomination because the page doesn't comply with Wikipedia's user page guidelines, but also unwilling to accept the nomination because if what you said there is true then they have sympathy for you, and don't want to add yet more unpleasantness for you. That was what I thought when I saw it, and so I left it for quite a while. However, having thought about it further, I think it will actually better to delete the page, and let you make a new start, putting the kind of thing you wrote there behind you, and concentrating on having a positive experience here. I hope that you will manage to fit in to the way Wikipedia works, and have a successful time as an editor. JBW (talk) 16:42, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Jex Blackmore, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Rhain (he/him) 09:38, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
