March 2017[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from changing genres, as you did to Michael Schenker, without providing a source or establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Thank you. - Mlpearc (open channel) 17:29, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Listen, "Mlpearc," I don't want to call you names... This is the second time that YOU are disrupting me. Each time you have absolutely no idea about the topic or person featured on the wikipedia page to which I made a minor change. The "source" is in the wikipedia article itself (as it lists the instrumental rock albums of Michael Schenker in the 'solo albums' section). Now stop disrupting my editing.

Best regards...

Intermezzo[edit]

@Mlpearc: I'd like to see some evidence of harrassment. This is harrassment - what you have here is a simple argument against musical genres. While you're probably right, you obviously haven't managed to get that through to the new user here, probably because you've been using too many automated templates.

@SquidandStag: While Michael Schenker is known for his solo instrumental work, the general consensus is we only limit genres in the infobox to a few obvious terms that most people will recognise, and in this instance, "hard rock / heavy metal" would seem to suffice. It probably isn't worth your time arguing about this as most people will see the dispute as trivial and not worthy of sorting out. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:11, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ritchie333: Fair enough. If I had to explain it, I would say that I did see some entries for bands and solo artists which included many different genres (to which they may have contributed sparsely) or where the genre is not defined well enough, so different genres are cited side by side to give an approximate description of the music. This is different. In this particular case, I thought it would be totally logical to include 'instrumental rock' as one of the genres because he has at least written and recorded 8 instrumental albums, some of them acoustic only, not counting other instrumental rock pieces on different albums with the Michael Schenker Group or Scorpions.SquidandStag (talk) 04:30, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
