Ways to improve Herbert Strongeagle

[edit]

Hi, I'm Ajpolino. Squirrel2017, thanks for creating Herbert Strongeagle!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hello! Thank you for your contribution! The page would be improved by going through and changing some wording to make it less promotional and more encyclopedic (the article should answer the question "who is Herbert Strongeagle?" not "how great is Herbert Strongeagle?"). If you have questions feel free to ask me at my talk page or ask at WP:TEAHOUSE. Thanks!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Hi. Very little information is available on this individual and I have included what is available...the high points/important points are the only ones mentioned in resources, thus the tone of the article. I shall look about modifying the language to tone down his importance to the indigenous community as a trailblazer and incredible role model but consider it a shame that I have to do this to make it more acceptable to the Wikipedia community. Response: please see the discussion re: notability of Tom Longboat winners here as the same argument applies to Gerald Starr: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Herbert_Strongeagle#notability_of_Herbert_Strongeagle

None of the references cited in the draft are specifically about Starr, so he fails WP:GNG, specifically "significant coverage". If you feel otherwise, simply resubmit your draft. P.S. chapel obituary is not a WP:reliable source. Clarityfiend (talk) 18:54, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Understood but you are actually making my argument for me. The newspaper etc coverage is slim to none even for important indigenous figures.

Gwendolyn Lucy O'Soup Crane moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Gwendolyn Lucy O'Soup Crane, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 17:57, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for developing the new article on Gwendolyn Lucy O'Soup Crane. I recommend toning down or even removing the "Indigenous Peoples History" section per Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Doomsdayer520}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

{{Re|Doomsdayer520}} wikipedia is not neutral in its stance on notability and requirements for notability which exclude peoples based on the dominant group's documentation, or lack thereof. I am a librarian, if that helps establish any credentials (and no, librarians are not neutral either). There is very little digital/electronic information for the time period and people in question, plus very little published in print by the people in question because of their position (non-dominant) within society. Furthermore, none of what I said should be a shock because this information is found piecemeal, within wikipedia itself. I just pulled it all together to explain why so little information is available on this notable person's life.Squirrel2017 (talk) 16:14, 6 August 2019 (UTC) gonesquirrely[reply]

Assumption College School

[edit]

I removed the cleanup tag from Assumption College School. The main issue I see with the article now is that almost all of the article's content is under the History section. The addition of a new section could fix this.☣YutsiTalk/Edits 21:47, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
